SPOILER: The following contains canon lore and locations for Fruma, avoid if you wish to uncover Fruma yourself.

A simple thought experiment rapidly evolved into an alternate history scenario - what if Fruma invaded the rest of the world? Certainly sounds interesting, but if this were to happen in the present day, the player probably could single handedly counter any Fruman invasion. Besides, there was no motive for Fruma to invade the world in 1000 AP. But what if there was a motive?

This scenario, which I am calling the Wartorn World, takes place from 900 to 910 AP. I decided to set this scenario in the past because the world was in the midst of a great change at that time - Bob recently defeated Bak'al and Wynn was recovering from organized Corruption raids, Gavel established contact with Wynn as the oceans became traversable, Corkus was just established and still knew of Fruma from the scraps of memories of the older generation.

In this scenario, Her Majesty - concerned with the war between the Dern Beast and Orphion, as well as the recent victories of Bob over Bak'al - would decide the only way to ensure Darkness and Light would abandon the physical realm was to outright conquer it for Herself.

The Wartorn World - An Alternate History Scenario

900 AP - The Fruman government, after hearing of Bob’s success against Bak'al and Annihalation, decide the best course of action is to invade Wynn and the rest of the world. The recruitment programme is scratched, and instead Fruma sends its armies to the borders.

    • The Fruman government came to the belief that Wynn only survived thus far because of Bob, and believed he will either become more powerful than Fruma can deal with, or die and Wynn falls to Darkness. Either outcome was deemed unacceptable.
    • A propaganda campaign began, portraying the upcoming war as one to protect the Fruman homeland from the monsters besieging Wynn and the world beyond. The propaganda emphasizes only Fruma and her soldiers can stop these monsters, and any who would side against Fruma are allies of Darkness and must be killed.
902 AP - Military forces are assembled, with most recruits coming from the Highlands and Industrial district. Combat training is relaxed to accommodate the sheer number of recruits, creating armies of ordinary soldiers. They are taught how to fight Corruption, as well as creatures of the Light and of Darkness.

905 AP - Fruma’s invasion of Wynn begins.

    • The Ragni Campaign
      • From Fort Torann, Fruman forces traverse through the Ragni outskirts and arrive at the gates of Ragni. Ragni, which suffered a years-long campaign against Bakal, would be less defensible due to how many people died protecting the city. The surprise attack from Fruman forces on the undefended side of Ragni’s castle led to the quick capitulation of Ragni to Fruma.

      • Fruma begins rebuilding Ragni’s walls and turns the city into a fortress. The local population is either conscripted into the Fruman army, or flee eastward.

      • Bob would be away from Ragni during this lightning offensive, and would be unable to aid in the defense of the city against Fruma. When news of Ragni’s fall reached Bob, he would depart immediately for his homeland, determined to take back the city singlehandedly. Bob, the hero who saved Wynn from Bak'al and Annihalation, pushed the Fruman garrison in Ragni all the way back to the city’s castle. However, the sheer number of well-equipped soldiers bearing gunpowder weapons was too much, and Bob would be captured by the Fruman garrison. He would be sent back to Fruma, where his fate remains unknown.

906 AP - Fruma’s invasion of Wynn continues

    • The Nivla Campaign

      • Once Ragni was secured, smaller armies were sent out to secure the nearby settlements. Alekin village, only just beginning to recover from Bakal’s march towards Ragni 20 years prior, surrendered to Fruma without a fight, as did Katoa Ranch.

      • When the Fruman soldiers reached further into the Ragni hinterlands, they found a species they knew nothing about - Villagers from the settlement of Maltic. Fruma had never encountered another sapient species, and sent a representative to Maltic. From the villagers, the Fruman soldiers learned of the Decay in Gavel - and that the villagers too are victims of the Darkness and Light. Thus, Maltic surrendered to Fruma, and Villagers were permitted to join the army, though they would face discrimination in the predominantly human military.

      • The intel gathered from the Nivla Campaign would lead to Fruman military leaders drawing up plans to invade Gavel, in order to put a stop to the Decay.

    • The Elkurn Campaign

      • Occuring at the same time as the Alekin Campaign, Fruman soldiers marched southeast of Ragni to secure the Ragni hinterlands. However, unlike in the Alekin Campaign, no such settlements were found. Thus, the armies decided to regroup and go to Elkurn, the only remaining objective of their campaign.

      • Elkurn, a town of researchers, could not hope to stand against Fruma’s armies. Thus, a wave of refugees fled the town heading to the recently rebuilt Detlas. By the time the Fruman armies arrived, the town was almost completely depopulated, and became a logistics camp for Fruma’s further incursions into the Wynn plains.

    • The Nemract Campaign

      • The goal of this campaign was to secure the port town of Nemract, and completely control the western bank of the Ragni river. A series of mistakes took place during the campaign, as Fruman officers mistook Ancient Nemract to be the modern port town of Nemract. Whilst in Ancient Nemract, the Fruman armies discovered Charon, who led the initial invasion of the Corrupted against Ancient Nemract almost 1000 years ago. Charon challenged the Fruman forces to a battle in his domain, of which Fruma won with few casualties. With Charon defeated and most of the undead in Ancient Nemract killed, Ancient Nemract was effectively purged of the undead and of the influences of Light and Darkness.

      • While the Fruman armies were in Ancient Nemract, the people of Nemract fled in two different directions - some opted to travel south to Detlas, taking difficult trails to avoid the Fruman army’s attention, while others traveled by sea, going to Gavel and any other lands that would take them.

      • One group of seabound refugees were carried by rough seas away from their path and towards the previously unknown island of Corkus. The Corkian Council, whose founders escaped Fruma less than 60 years prior, were terrified of the expansionist Fruma. It was decided by the Council to commandeer all private sailing vessels and create a navy to repel any Fruman attempt at crossing the ocean. Corkus would also begin building new warships for the navy, all under the impression Fruma desired to punish Corkus for the escape of its founders.

      • Refugees would begin arriving in Llevigar as well. The government in Cinfras would soon hear of the stories of Fruma invading the Wynn province. With the lack of Wynnic soldiers heading to Gavel due to the war, the Cinfras government would begin considering their options.

907 AP - The First Fruman Setback

    • Fruma worked to consolidate their gains west of the Ragni river, which splits the Wynn plains in half. Supply routes were established and guarded, and fortifications were established on the riverbank. Fruma began confiscating any remaining ships in Nemract for use in a potential assault on Gavel. Two goals were created to achieve for the year: the capture of Troms, and surrounding Detlas.

    • The First Troms Campaign

      • The only other polity that could pose a serious threat to the Fruman military was the Kingdom of Troms, whose ancient walls held off attacks from the Corruption for centuries. Separated from the rest of the Wynn province by an impassable mountain range, the only way for Fruma to even enter the region was through The Passage - a well guarded tunnel connecting Pigman Valley to Troms, allowing for travel between Ragni and Troms. The leaders of the campaign deemed the Great Bridge too big a risk due to reports of an entity made of fire inhabiting the structure, preventing all from crossing. Including attrition from the Tromsian jungle, it was decided to risk a direct assault on Troms through The Passage.

      • The initial assault by the Fruman armies seemed successful, as they cleared the first few meters of The Passage of Tromsian guards. However, the armies could not defend themselves in such a narrow corridor, and the Tromsian military eventually surrounded the much larger Fruman forces in The Passage. Decimated, the Fruman armies were forced to retreat, barely escaping the Tromsian encirclement with their lives.

      • The failure of this campaign would lead to the executions of the campaign’s leaders, and deemed all Tromsian civilians kill-on-sight for refuting the Fruman advance.

    • The Bremynn Campaign

      • This campaign took place at the same time as the Troms campaign, and was the first Fruman military incursion into Wynn east of the Ragni river. The civilians of Bremminglar were sent to Detlas for protection, while all men able to fight stayed in the town. Detlas in turn sent Bremminglar a contingent of Detlas militia to aid in their defence. Proud of their heritage and identity, Bremminglar refused to yield to the Fruman armies. Thus, the town was put to siege by Fruma, hoping to starve the town into submission. However, after many nights where Bremminglar’s warriors sneaked into the Fruman camp and sabotaged equipment, it was finally decided by the Fruman campaign leaders to directly assault Bremminglar.

      • Because of the dry shrub surrounding Bremminglar, the Fruman campaign leaders decided to set the town on fire. Thus, they threw burning material into the town, sparking fires. The townspeople tried their best to put out the flames, but the nonstop volley ensured that some flames grew out of control. With Bremminglar in flames, the town’s warriors retreated into the Bremynn mountains.

      • A war of attrition would take place as Fruman soldiers searched every cave or cavity in the mountains for Bremminglar’s defenders. The fight in the mountains was deemed too draining on manpower and the Fruman armies retreated back to the savanna. Instead, on top the burnt remains of Bremminglar a new Fruman military camp was built, serving as defence against the Bremminglar warriors in the mountains and another logistical hub for the encirclement of Detlas.

    • The Nesaak Campaign

      • The armies of Fruma moved into the Nesaak tundra with relative ease, the only major threats to their operations being wolf packs and polar bears. Nesaak, whose barricades and walls were better at fending off the local wildlife than an organized army, agreed to surrender to the Fruman armies.

      • When questioned about the climate, the people of Nesaak told the army about Theorick, a powerful ice mage who cursed the region to eternal winter out of his own stubbornness and vengeance. Though the tales do not reflect the real Theorick, this is further proof to both the soldiers and Fruman high command that people with magical abilities were inherently dangerous. This provided visible evidence that Fruma’s anti-magic propaganda was true, much to the benefit of the Fruman government. The campaign leaders promised the people of Nesaak that they would do whatever it took to reverse Theorick’s curse on the land, much to the relief of the citizens.

      • A previously unknown passage is discovered by Fruman scouts leading to a valley which contained the town of Lusoco and an imposing tower known as the Tower of Ascension. Due to the relative isolation and lack of importance, only a small garrison of Fruman soldiers were sent to negotiate Lusoco’s surrender and gather any relevant intelligence.

    • The Portal Containment Initiative

      • The Portal of Corruption long served as a permanent reminder of Wynn’s war against Corruption. The stories tell of a mining expedition which accidentally opened the portal, dooming the province to 900 years of warfare. In order to fully surround Detlas and achieve a major campaign goal, the Portal of Corruption had to be contained.

      • Fruman armies from Nesaak and Elkurn converged at the outskirts of the Portal, fending off roaming demons and other corrupted entities. Once further supplies from Ragni arrived, the armies pushed to fully surround the Portal by stationing troops on the cliffs overlooking the Portal’s entrance. While the current Fruman military could not close the Portal, the best they could do was contain it. Thus, fortifications were set up surrounding the Portal. With Fruman gunpowder weaponry and the experience of the army’s Wynnic recruits, the Portal of Corruption was essentially neutralized as all corrupted entities in the area were killed.

      • A research station would also be established as part of the fortifications, where data from the Portal would be sent back to Sovereign Soosu of the relatively new Industrial District, in an attempt to create a device that can permanently neutralize the Portal, or even close it.

      • The Portal Containment Initiative would require a large standing army to ensure the containment was held, but at the same time it provided an enormous benefit to morale and legitimacy to the Fruman invasion.

908 AP - The First Wynnic Counterattack

    • Fruma’s lightning offensive across the Wynn plains stalled during both the first Troms campaign and Portal Containment Initiative, giving Detlas and Almuj precious time to enact a counteroffensive. Detlas, which suffered defeat in the defense of Bremminglar and had to accommodate waves of refugees from western Wynn, was unable to respond in time to effectively halt the Fruman advance until now.

    • The Savanna Campaign

      • The next phase of the Fruman invasion was to take over the whole of the Savanna and cut Detlas off from Almuj. Both of the cities, however, were preparing for this exact situation. The Wynnic cities planned to ambush the Fruman armies as they secured the road between Detlas and Almuj.

      • The Battle for the Savanna would commence as Fruman armies entered from Bremminglar. Detlas militiamen would enact hit and run tactics against the Frumans, causing enough damage to redirect the armies’ attention to finding and killing the skirmishers. The militiamen would lead the Fruman armies to the banks of the Almuj river, where hidden Almuj and Detlas soldiers revealed themselves and surrounded the now-trapped Fruman armies. The Wynnic militias were on the verge of winning, when a second Fruman detachment arrived all the way from the Portal of Corruption, breaking the encirclement and forcing the Wynnic forces into a retreat.

      • For the Frumans, this was the first coordinated offensive against their forces, something which disturbed the commanders back in Ragni. However, the fact that they pushed the Wynnic forces back provided some relief to the Fruman commanders. For Detlas and Almuj, meanwhile, their defeat meant the Savanna was under the control of Fruma, and the only route linking Detlas to Almuj was severed. Almuj’s forces, weakened and demoralised, retreated to behind their ancient walls and began preparations for an extended siege. Detlas, however, was completely surrounded.

    • The Suburbs Campaign

      • A fresh batch of recruits from Fruma and western Wynn arrived at the outskirts of Detlas a few days after the Battle for the Savanna took place. These fresh forces were tasked with securing the Detlas suburbs and denying the city its vital food producing region.

      • Even though Detlas was weakened after the Battle for the Savanna, losing the suburbs would mean a slow and agonizing death by starvation for the citizens of Detlas. When scouts reported Fruman troop movements close to the suburbs, the Detlas militia was reassembled and sent into the suburbs, turning every house into a miniature fortress, and every farm plot into a hiding place for troops. From atop the walls of Detlas, militiamen provided artillery and archer cover for the suburbs.

      • The Battle for the Suburbs would begin when the Detlas militia fired upon the encroaching Fruman armies. The guerilla campaign proved effective against the panicked Fruman forces, whose numbers were being picked off one by one. However, the Fruman armies would regain composure and begin breaking into the suburb houses, fighting ferociously against the Detlas militia. Hidden Detlas militiamen fired volleys of arrows at the Fruman armies, causing even more disarray. Though the casualties were high, the Fruman armies cleared one house after another, which is when artillery started firing from the walls of Detlas. The combined attacks all led to the Fruman armies retreating from the suburbs, but not before torching the farmlands, houses, and orchards. Detlas had defeated the armies of Fruma, but it came at a terrible price. With their farmlands torched, Detlas was on borrowed time.

      • The commanders of the Suburbs campaign were reprimanded for their failure to capture the suburbs, but were spared execution because of their decision to burn the farmlands, denying Detlas their source of food. The suburbs were intended to be used to provide food for the Fruman army, but with their destruction, food would still have to be shipped from the west.

    • The First Fruman Naval Expedition

      • Intent on reaching the shores of Gavel, Fruma confiscated Nemract’s boats to be used in an expedition to the province. The Villagers of Maltic, who only landed in Wynn by sheer luck, could not provide any maps for the Fruman expedition to use. However, in Nemract there remained sailors who knew how to get to Gavel. They would lead the expedition to Llevigar, one of two cities along Gavel’s coast. Launched at the same time as the Suburbs Campaign, high command assumed resistance in Wynn would crumble by the time the fleet arrived in Gavel, and the army could focus entirely on conquering Gavel.

      • While en route to Gavel, the Fruman expedition unknowingly passed by the island of Corkus. The Corkians, fearing the fleet was the prelude to a Fruman invasion of the island, sent their navy to intercept and sink the Fruman ships. Corkian warships were sent out to destroy the fleet, both existing and newer models. The Fruman expedition, made up primarily of fishing vessels, had no way of countering the firepower of the Corkian warships. Not even the gunpowder weaponry Fruma possessed could stem the tide of the battle. As ship after ship was blown out of the water, some ships from the expedition managed to flee back to Nemract. For the rest, they were all sunk by the Corkian warships, with some of the surviving Fruman soldiers taken as prisoners by Corkus and interrogated.

      • The interrogated Fruman soldiers, during interrogation, realized that Corkus was established by escaped workers from the Industrial District. What the Fruman government covered up as a terrorist attack against the workers of the Industrial District had in fact been the successful escape of a group of workers and inventors. The soldiers realized, if Fruma lied about this, what else had they lied about?

      • The ships that escaped the Corkian ambush limped back to Nemract. They informed high command of an advanced human navy patrolling the seas which decimated their expedition. Not even high command knew of the Corkians - that knowledge was only amongst Fruma’s sovereigns and Her Majesty.

      • When news of the battle reached the sovereigns and Her Majesty, they took full control of the situation. They inferred that the navy the expedition encountered was created by none other than the escaped inventors and workers who fled Fruma almost 60 years prior. Unwilling to allow the armies to know of Corkus and their origins, the Fruman government proposed an alternate route for future expeditions to take, and ordered all Fruman ships to stay away from the island.

    • The Second Troms Campaign

      • With the Nesaak Tundra under full Fruman control, The Great Bridge between the Tundra and the Tromsian Jungle was within Fruma’s grasp. Unlike before, the Fruman armies were in a better position to take on the Bridge’s entity compared to a few years prior.

      • The entity, known to the locals as the Bane of The Great Bridge, would historically prevent any travellers from crossing, and even in cases where it was defeated, it would come back. What would have been a challenge a few years ago now was a more even fight - Fruman supply lines and tactics defeated the Bane, and granted access to The Great Bridge to the Fruman army.

      • Heavy artillery and cannons, shipped all the way from Fruma, made their way to the Fruman camp at The Great Bridge. In the meantime, scouts searched for any available paths through the jungle to Troms. Many of the scouts failed to return to camp, as they were killed by Iboju tribesmen who heard of the Fruman assault on Troms. With limited intelligence gathered, it was decided to take the main road which led directly to Troms.

      • On the way to the gates of Troms, the Fruman army suffered heavy attrition, ranging from attacks from the wildlife to Iboju ambushes. In retribution, the Fruman army set any Iboju settlements ablaze. Iboju refugees would flee to Troms and inform the city of the approaching Fruman army. Meanwhile, the Fruman army trudged along, the muddy jungle ground and humid climate served as a detriment to the gunpowder weaponry and heavy artillery. Once the army spotted the gates of Troms, they set up camp. The Campaign’s commanders, realizing the dire situation of their army, sent a scout to send reinforcements through The Passage to perform a pincer attack on Troms. However, while on the road back to The Great Bridge, a vengeful Iboju tribesman killed the scout, which doomed the campaign.

      • After a few days without any updates, the commanders lied to the armies, saying another detachment of soldiers would meet them at The Passage. Fearing execution more than defeat, the commanders continued with their original plan to breach the city walls.

      • The morning broke with artillery firing at the Tromsian walls. The Tromsian military, well prepared for the Fruman attack, responded with their own volley of cannonfire as well as a hail of arrows. The lack of cover for the Fruman armies led to massive casualties. Fruman artillery and snipers focused on killing the wall’s archers, in order to bombard the gate without repercussion. Many Tromsian archers were sniped, but the snipers had to deal with the humid weather ruining their rifles, which caused some to explode upon firing or dampen the gunpowder. Despite everything the Frumans threw at the Tromsian walls, every felled archer was replaced by a fresh replacement, and the assault on Fruman forces continued. Aware that retreat would mean certain death for most of the army, the commanders forced a breach into the Tromsian gate. As hundreds of Fruman soldiers were killed by Tromsian defenders, the Fruman cannons concentrated on the gate and fired simultaneously, blasting the gate open. A desperate charge by the Fruman armies commenced, cut down further by the Tromsian defenders, their only hope laid in relief from the reinforcements which were to arrive from The Passage. As the remnants of the Fruman army entered the city center, still being decimated by Tromsian warriors, all hope was lost when it was revealed reinforcements would not arrive. Utterly hopeless, the Fruman army broke and began retreating en masse out of the city. The chaotic retreat allowed for Tromsian archers to pick off the retreating Fruman soldiers. Even more were killed outside the city by Iboju ambushers and the local wildlife. Out of an estimated 10,000 soldiers sent to take Troms, less than 1,000 returned with their lives. All of the commanders for the campaign were killed in storming the city.

      • Troms, once again, repelled a Fruman offensive. Though, unlike previously, this victory was far more costly for Fruma. The campaign’s manpower was decimated, much of the heavy artillery was now in the hands of Troms, and Troms remained out of the grasp of Fruma.
909 AP - The Wynnic Front Collapses

    • Despite the efforts of the remaining Wynn polities, Fruma cut off supply lines between Detlas and the outside world, and Almuj resorted to using their ancient walls for protection. Troms meanwhile had beaten back two Fruman offensives and remained the greatest thorn in the side of Fruma’s ambitions. The high command wanted to finally put an end to the Wynn campaign and conquer the last cities.

    • The Desert Campaign

      • In the aftermath of the Battle for the Savanna, Almuj retreated behind their ancient walls. Impractical to use against the undead, the walls were left abandoned and crumbling. The Almuj military and even a good portion of the civilian population worked to repair the walls and properly man the structure. By 909 AP, much of the wall had been repaired. Though not as strong as Troms’ defenses, it was better than no defense.

      • Fruman forces arrived from the Savanna and Bremminglar with heavy artillery, and laid siege to the portion of the wall guarding Almuj proper. Cannonfire shook the anxious defenders awake, as Fruman firepower pounded at the walls. Unlike stone walls, when cannonfire struck the sandstone walls of Almuj, instead of leaving impact holes the nearby structure caved in. Fruma would need to pound the wall into sand in order to breach it, something they would do yet take many casualties accomplishing. Defenders poured in to defend the breached portion of the wall, however, the city would be betrayed by a bandit group known as Creden Tibus.

      • Creden Tibus believed the defense of Almuj to be delaying the inevitable, and wanted to curry favor with the Fruman army. They decided that opening the city gates would earn some respect from their new owners. This gambit proved to be successful, as Fruman forces entered through the gate, the city offered unconditional surrender. Creden Tibus, for their part, were granted rulership over the desert for their part in its capture. Such a move caused a power shift in the desert, and numerous other bandit groups rallied to challenge Creden Tibus for rule over Almuj. In the meantime, Fruman forces entered the desert, purging any signs of Corruption and resistance.

    • The Anti-Corruption Campaign

      • Occurring since the very beginning of the invasion, the Fruman armies purged Corruption wherever it was. By 909 AP, a device was produced that could destroy the Corruption spikes themselves, which the armies utilized. Corruption spikes from Ragni to the outskirts of Detlas were destroyed, and the undead were properly disposed of. For the first time in more than 900 years, a portion of Wynn returned to pre-Corruption life, earning great favor from the civilian populations under their control, and begrudging respect from resistance groups.

      • Meanwhile, the Corruption Portal’s spikes had been destroyed. Research continued to try and find a way to close the Portal. The Anti-Corruption Campaign became a big part of the Fruman propaganda machine, portraying their armies as actively fighting against Corruption and its origin.

    • The Detlas Campaign

      • With Detlas surrounded, the only way for refugees to escape the city was through the air. Ever since the Battle for the Savanna, airships had landed in Detlas and brought refugees out of the city and into Gavel. At first it was spontaneous, but soon became organized under the Detlas and Gavellian governments to evacuate as many citizens as possible. The evacuation proved a success, not only had the civilians been successfully evacuated before any direct attack from Fruma commenced, but with fewer mouths to feed, the rations and stockpiles of the city would last longer. In Gavel, despite calls from both villager and human citizens of Detlas to join the fight, the Gavel government maintained a neutral stance on the conflict, refusing to get involved in a human war on the other side of the ocean.

      • The last of the airships left at night, the darkness covered their movement as Fruman armies moved into position below. The army assembled to take down Detlas was the biggest Fruma mustered since the Ragni campaign. On all sides of Detlas were thousands of soldiers wielding gunpowder weapons, and multiple lines of artillery. The walls of Detlas, only built within the last 9 years, never experienced an undead attack, let alone any bombardment the likes of which Fruma would deliver. As the light of dawn only just began to creep over the sky, the deafening sound of cannonfire marked the beginning of the Siege of Detlas. Volley after volley of cannonballs slammed against the walls of Detlas, however, unlike other sieges, these walls held. The walls were blessed with magic and design to absorb powerful shocks without collapsing as a precaution for a powerful undead raid. The walls held, even as more volleys followed. With the opening salvo stamped out, Detlas’s archers peaked over the walls and began firing at the soldiers, accompanied by the city’s own cannons. The Frumans, desperate to break the walls, continued firing in vain, while the city’s defenders picked off more and more soldiers. Eventually, the campaign’s commanders bet that if they concentrated their firepower onto one small area of the wall, it would overwhelm and collapse the defenses. Thus, on Detlas’s western wall, the Fruman cannons coalesced and fired simultaneously at the western gate. The gambit proved partially successful - the gate was heavily damaged, but still standing. Another concentrated volley would break open the gates of Detlas. The city’s defenders realized this as soon as the Fruman forces did, and began targeting the artillery manners. A few lucky shots from Detlas crippled the Fruman artillery barrage enough that it was no longer possible for them to blow open the western gate. The Fruman armies at the northern gate of Detlas caught on to the idea, and fired all their artillery at the northern gate. The northern gate collapsed, and a rush of city defenders and Fruman soldiers rushed to the breach. City defenders from above poured boiling water and anything they had on hand at the Fruman soldiers near the breach, while the city’s militia blocked any Fruman soldiers from crossing the breach. Piles of dead Frumans and militiamen crowded the gate, almost blocking it up again. Reinforcements from the rest of the siege came to the aid of the Frumans at the northern gate, however it did not matter how many soldiers there were, the breach could not be crossed. The increasing number of Fruman soldiers made cannonfire from the defenders much more deadly, with each cannonball taking out hundreds of soldiers. Despite an ungodly number of dead soldiers, the Fruman offensive marched on. Eventually, through sheer numbers, the Frumans crossed the breach and entered the city. Fighting commenced on the streets of Detlas, where the defenders on the walls did everything they could to stop the increasing tide of Fruman soldiers from entering Detlas. To the defenders, it seemed for every soldier they killed, two more took their place. By the end, the city’s defenders were forced to surrender, and Detlas at last fell to Fruma. The remaining defenders were sent to Deraj prison in Fruma as prisoners of war, and the city became depopulated. With the civilian population already in Gavel, and the defenders imprisoned, Detlas became a key supply and logistical hub for the Fruman war effort. And yet, despite the boon the city brought, the sheer number of deaths it took to capture it traumatized the soldiers, and haunted the commanders.

    • The Corkus Affair

      • Uncharacteristic of the Fruman Invasion, the Corkus Affair involved no fighting, and the only Fruman sent to Corkus was Sovereign Selium of the Auburn Forest to open dialogue with the Corkian Council.

      • The Fruman government wanted to maintain the narrative that there was never any escape from Fruma, but Corkus’ existence directly disproved this statement. Thus, to keep the lie going, Fruma wanted to diplomatically keep Corkus out of the fighting, instead of potentially exposing more Fruman soldiers to the truth. There were elements of the Fruman government who advocated for direct confrontation with Corkus due to their attack on Fruma’s fleet, but Her Majesty overruled these concerns and opted for a diplomatic solution.

      • With white flag raised, Selium’s rickety fishing vessel was flanked by two Corkian warships as it entered Corkus City harbor. The city guard were hastily assembled to man the Corkus harbor as the ships entered. Sovereign Selium stepped off his boat and greeted the city guard. He then asked to have a meeting with the Corkian Council. The city guard, confused at such a request, turned to their leaders for direction. Corkus had never opened diplomatic talks with any other group except the Avos tribes, thus the request had very little precedence. The leaders allowed Selium to meet with the Council, and a messenger was sent ahead to inform the Council President.

      • The President of the Corkian Council was a man named Wilhelm Corkus, who was the son of Markus Corkus T, the man who led the initial escape from Fruma over half a century prior. President Wilhelm, after receiving word from the messenger, immediately called a Council session. Once assembled, the Council and Selium met. Selium began by apologizing to the Corkian Council for scaring them into action against the Fruman Fleet. The Council, shocked by Selium’s humility, reciprocated and apologized for their actions. With relations warmed, the talks continued and an agreement was created and signed - Corkus would not attack Fruman fleets, and Fruma would not interfere with Corkus.

      • The Corkian Council was relieved by such a visit, having their worries assuaged by the diplomatic skills of Selium. Wilhelm Corkus, however, was not as convinced. The Council had a strained relation with Wilhelm Corkus: ever since he overthrew his father and abolished the Corkian monarchy 20 years prior, the Council had a lingering worry that Wilhelm would try to seize power for himself by corroding the power of the Council. Wilhelm, meanwhile, believed the Council to be too inefficient and full of conspirators. Although Wilhelm had no desires for absolute rule, his twenty-year reign as Council President had rubbed many the wrong way about his intentions.

      • What the Corkian Council was not aware of, however, was that Fruma was also in talks with the Avos tribes. Sovereign Majin of the Highlands, unsatisfied with the Fruman Queen’s decision, decided to open independent dialogue with the Avos tribes. Majin teleported personally to the Avos territory. Though the Avos were initially shocked and hostile at first, Majin managed to calm the Avos warriors down enough so that they did not want to kill him. Majin eventually met with the Avos Chieftan and struck up a deal with the Avos - if Corkus struck at Fruma again and the Frumans invaded the island, they requested help from the Avos in defeating the Corkians. In exchange, Majin promised to give the entire island over to the Avos. This unofficial deal would remain hidden from Her Majesty and the rest of the Fruman government, and would only be revealed if the time were right.

      • With Corkus no longer a threat to Fruman naval expeditions, Fruma began assembling ships to begin another expedition into the ocean.

910 AP - The Present Day

    • It has been five years since Fruma’s invasion began, and the world has already changed fundamentally.

    • Wynn

      • Despite the brutal invasion, in its wake is a land no longer at war with the Corruption. Previously abandoned or destroyed fortifications were rebuilt and re-manned with professional soldiers wielding sophisticated weaponry. The undead still rise, but are quickly dealt with by the Fruman soldiers wherever they pop up. For the first time in 910 years, there is relative peace across most of Wynn. With the absence of the undead and the continued destruction of more and more Corruption spikes, farms have begun springing up in larger numbers across the province.

      • Many settlements aligned with Fruma during their invasion, and still are very loyal to Fruma. These include Maltic, Nesaak, Alekin, and Elkurn. Settlements that were conquered and have since become loyal include Ragni, Nemract, and Almuj. Fruma continues to deal with Detlas partisans and resistance groups, and the potential for civil war in Almuj, but for the most part holds most of Wynn under a firm grip.

      • Fruma has begun a campaign to restore Ancient Nemract in order to make it fit for human habitation once more, alongside a separate campaign to turn Nemract into the premier port city for Fruma to use to access the rest of the world. Much capital has already flowed into Nemract, and the living standard in the town has gone up considerably.

      • Bremminglar warriors still carry out guerrilla tactics from their bases in the Bremmyn mountains. Their continued resistance attracts the attention of Wynnic partisans and the Fruman military alike, and have recently established contact with the Detlas government in exile.

      • Ever since Almuj was put under the stewardship of Creden Tibus by Fruma, numerous bandit groups have tried to overthrow Creden Tibus for control of Almuj and its wealth. All have failed to oust Creden Tibus, but there is growing worry the bandits have amassed a force strong enough to challenge Creden Tibus, and with the Fruman military too busy dismantling Corruption spikes and killing the undead, the power Creden Tibus wields is no longer guaranteed.

      • Troms remains a thorn in the side of Fruma. Having countered multiple Fruman siege attempts, Troms remains a beacon of hope for those disillusioned by Fruma, much to the dismay of the Fruman government and military. However, Troms may be running out of time, as a third siege is being planned by the Fruman military which may finally put an end to Tromsian resistance.

    • Gavel

      • The Gavellian government in Cinfras refuses to publicly condemn the Fruman invasion, hoping to appease the Frumans into maintaining the emerald trade that had previously helped revive the Gavellian economy. Gavel, at least publicly, still believes in diplomacy with Fruma.

      • Fruma, meanwhile, is using the expeditions it conducted to route the most optimal invasion plans into Gavel. Using maps brought over by the Maltic Villagers, they have a fairly accurate document regarding the geography and peoples of Gavel.

      • In Cinfras, the refugees that escaped Detlas organized a government in exile. In the months since Detlas fell, they organized intel gathering campaigns, including contacting Wynn-based resistance cells in order to share information and keep up-to-date on news in the region and wider province.

      • In Llevigar, more Wynnic humans and villagers protest to get the Gavellian government to free the Wynn province. Unlike the refugees in Cinfras, those in Llevigar hail from many different towns and cities across Wynn.

    • Corkus

      • The Corkian Council no longer feels threatened by Fruma due to the agreement they made with Sovereign Selium. However, Wilhelm Corkus, President of the Council, is still not entirely convinced Fruma will leave them be. Tensions between the Council and Wilhelm are at an all time high, both with conflicting ideas on how to keep Corkus safe. It will not take much to convince one side to attack the other…

      • The Avos tribes formed a secret alliance with Sovereign Majin to aid in a potential Fruman invasion of Corkus. With backing from such a powerful figure in the Fruman government, more radical elements within Avos society have emerged, talking of taking back their island from the humans by force.

    • The Ocean

      • The increase in oceanic traffic caused by Fruma’s expeditions have caught the attention of various pirates, most notably Redbeard, the first pirate and the most dangerous. Numerous Fruman vessels have been lost because of Redbeard, yet Fruma does not have the technology nor the sailing experience to combat Redbeard. With each raid, Redbeard draws more and more attention towards himself, finding more pirate allies but also becoming a bigger target for Fruma.

      • In addition to Redbeard, another hindrance to Fruman naval expansion is the fortress on Skien’s Island, home to General Skien, a famed Tromsian general who defended the city against Corrupted hordes. After a betrayal during the siege, he retreated and is isolating him and his men on the island. Despite the general being as against magic as the Fruman military is, he has refused to open dialogue with the Frumans and continued firing at Fruman envoys. High command is now considering storming the island, and kidnapping General Skien to learn about the defenses of Troms, and potentially how to storm the city.

      • Fruman high command recently learned of an island full of mages, who were responsible for the calming of the oceans. Though their efforts proved vital in allowing Fruma to traverse the ocean, having such magic being wielded by anyone outside the Fruman government is a threat that cannot be ignored. Plans are currently being drafted by high command on how to properly deal with the mages of Mage Island.

      • The city of Sarnfic had opened dialogue with Fruma, and numerous expeditions have used the city to restock on supplies. The city, primarily populated by Gavellian villagers, is aware of the Decay’s spread, and has agreed to help Fruma in its eventual invasion of the province.

      • Reports of a “Dark presence” on Alive Island have reached the ears of the Fruman high command, who are organizing an expedition to gather further information about the nature of the dark presence.
