No blood on Maria and no blood trail is visible.
There is blood splatter against one of the walls and a pool of blood where the body is.

There is also a plate sitting on a desk. It is half finished.

 

I enter slowly and prod the body with the tip of my halberd in an attempt to flip it over.

 

You use some strength to flip it over and it does so after a bit.
It rolls over, showing the back. Some skin and bones still hanging at where the head would have been.

 

Any windows in the room, open or otherwise?

 

There is a window.
They are those standard windows that can't be opened. It isn't broken in any way.

 

I press against the walls of the room with my halberd, testing their strength.

 

It's decent.
Bit of creaking of the wood, but it seems fairly strong.

 

"Who recently came up here?"
I ask Jonas.

 

"Uh.."

"Let's see.. Maria came here this morning to deliver breakfast. Guess this explains why he didn't come down afterwards. Furthermore, it's hard to say. People go up and down every hour, so it is hard to keep track of who enters which room."

 

Is the blood dried at this point?

 

It has been a while, yes.

 

Has the head been smashed multiple times or is it just one solid hit?

 

Multiple times. Face almost made unrecognizable.

 

"Huh. Shame."
I turn back to Jonas.
"So, how do you usually go about finding the guy who did this?"

 

"Uh.. this isn't really something that happens around here. But in this case.. probably informing the guards is the least you can do."

 

“That’s something you should fix. I could kill you quite easily, then I just have to skip town and I’m free?”
I criticize as I start walking back downstairs.
“I’m going to the guards, then I’ll be searching for bludgeons.”

 

"..right.." Jonas says just before you leave.

 

I go to get the guards, in no particular rush.
