The Roots of Corruption are in a weird state. They are the source of the dark force that plagues the province of Wynn, the origin of this endless battle for survival, and yet... it's just a level 25 area that is, well, pretty forgettable gameplay-wise. Once you are level 25+, it isn't challenging at all. You barely have to worry about the mobs, you can just casually take a stroll through the literal heart of the corruption; the mysterious evil that drives Wynncraft's storyline forward. The most dangerous thing in the Roots is the lava, and even that can be easily avoided by just paying a little attention.

I feel like it would perform much better as a high level area (like 70+) that you avoid in the early to mid game. Like, you are exploring around Detlas, you find this giant spike, you see a mob, and then you’re like “holy shit that’s a lot of health” and then you get one-shot. Even this scenario is better than being level 40 and able to just chill in the origin of all evil in Wynn. It makes no sense to me. I hope that changes will be made in the future. Thanks for reading!

A few quests might need to be reworked but otherwise this seems like it would be pretty fun. It'd be cool to finally go there for AJB or other high-level stuff after avoiding it for so long.

Epic, but maybe around LvL70 instead cuz you need to go to the place for Temple of Legends quest.

    Not Dark.

This is the case of all areas. Level does not reflect the lore strength of something. A level 95 bird in Sky Islands is not stronger than the zombie militia, it's just gameplay.

The region around the roots is level 5-15. It would not be a good idea to have level 5 players be punished for exploring by level 70 mobs killing them instantly and unfairly. There is a reason places like Troms Jungle and Gavel are inherently difficult to access when you in the early stages of your adventure

Further, there are level 70 and level 105 mobs in the Roots Of Corruption, they're just deeper in and not in the main caldera

AJB's focus is that Corruption isn't the only peril to Wynn. Having it be the moment the Roots of Corruption is explored for the first time would make absolutely zero sense.

I meant dark as in evil/grim, not the actual force of Darkness.

In my opinion, the Roots being a level 25 area doesn’t fit either the gameplay or the lore. There’s a line between having good gameplay that might not make sense thematically but, like you said, is just gameplay, and having an area that doesn’t make sense thematically, but kind of ruins the experience of being there (and thus gameplay). This is where the Roots of Corruption cross that line. A new player might be level 40 and be like “wow, i can one-shot everything here, this doesn’t feel very intimidating at all, why is the corruption even worth worrying about when you can just kill everything”. I think that this feeling of the area not fitting thematically will take away from the experience, both gameplay-wise and lore-wise.

I think that punishing players for carelessly walking into a very dangerous-looking area is much better than letting a level 20 player just casually walk into the origin of all corruption. The player can, at the very least, learn from their experience, and maybe even get a sense of how dangerous the corruption can be.
For your second point, are you saying that everything dangerous should be super hard to get to for low-level players? Wouldn’t that punish those players more (as they wouldn’t be able to explore there at all) than going into a high level area and getting killed by mobs? The Nesaak forest is very dangerous for a level 5-15 player, and it’s super easy to access from lower level areas. But I don’t see anyone complaining about that. You should be able to go where you want, but still think carefully about it. If you go into a high-level area unprepared, you should be punished for it accordingly.

There are other areas in the Roots, but those are only accessed through high-level quests, unless I’m mistaken and you can still get to them.
It wouldn’t be the first time it would be explored, as you have to go there for the Temple of Legends quest. Plus, if you are strong enough, you will probably want to go explore it because you couldn’t when you were a lower level.

It’s true that it would be weird to have a level 70 area in the middle of level 10 areas, but the Roots of Corruption are just as much a scar on the land lore-wise as they would be gameplay-wise. I see no reason to change the level except for it being difficult for low-level players, but that’s the whole point of this post.
