    Match I Strategy Guide

This, early on, is intended to be close to unbiased up to Round 4. At Round 4, I made my strategies first before the round. This is strategy guide is intended to be overkill; I would probably rarely play like this in the first few rounds.

This challenge of this game was to determine patterns from other people’s submissions, while dealing with two things:

    A) Players will eagerly switch up their strategy when they are failing, and use WIFOM often.

    B) You might outthink yourself; you might get completely destroyed by the previous rounds’ submissions.

To earn the most points, a player must do two things. The player must be exactly one step ahead of the majority; and not two, lest the majority be against him.

The first round was essentially luck. There wasn’t much to go off of at that point.

    Round 1:

    Rock(3): Cybersoap707, Tree_Legacy, MarioYoshiBoo

    Paper(3): lego_man724, BlueSlimerino, Hephaestus

    Scissors(1): Johnald

At this point, the payoffs were:

    Rock: -2

    Paper: 2

    Scissors: 0

Obviously if you were the only player submitting next round, you would choose paper. That was too obvious, and most people wouldn’t do that. How about scissors? Doing scissors means you would cut off those doing paper, which I assumed would be virtually nothing. What would rock do? Rock would cut off those doing scissors, which is basically nothing. However, because it is negative, this would encourage players “hey they won’t see this coming”. Therefore, paper is the wisest move; even if players outsmart you, you get 2 extra points to back you up just in case. Let’s see the next round.

    Round 2:

    Rock(8): lego_man724, Johnald, Cybersoap707, MarioYoshiBoo, Tree_Legacy

    Paper(3):

    Scissors(2): BlueSlimerino

    Rock: -1

    Paper: 6

    Scissors: -5

And you get +6. At this point next round, doing paper next round would earn four points, rock would earn one, and scissors would earn negative five. Nobody should pick scissors: their maximum gain would be two points, and the more people that do scissors would make the advantage even less. Neither should you; paper is by far the next move. But what happened next?

    Round 3:

    Rock(8): Cybersoap707, MarioYoshiBoo, Hephaestus

    Paper(0):

    Scissors(3): lego_man724, Tree_Legacy

    Rock: 3

    Paper: 5

    Scissors: -8

And you have 11 points right now. This was completely unexpected; most players picking paper would’ve made easy pickings off of all the rock players and easily pocketed the five points. At this rate, it seems players liked picking small negatives to make themselves unexpected; not the largest ones. Now players doing paper would earn one point, rock earns one, and scissors loses two. I would pick rock and bet many players are doing scissors. And...

    Round 4:

    Rock(4): Cybersoap707

    Paper(2): BlueSlimerino, lego_man724

    Scissors(4): Johnald, MarioYoshiBoo

    Rock: 2

    Paper: 0

    Scissors: -2

[I am now “blind” and am writing up predictions pre-updates]

You have 13 points right now. What do ya know? It seems players are transitioning off of the “small negatives” movement, given the players who chose paper(which makes sense, taking into account all the negatives). I think players are tired of all the negatives and are going for “small positives”. Next round, rock earns nothing, paper loses one, and scissors earns one. I would expect most players to go for rock or scissors. Tying doesn’t detriment my score, so rock would be fine for now, and paper would be significantly risky(albeit potentially rewarding).

    Round 5:

    Rock(3): Hephaestus, Cybersoap707

    Paper(4): Tree_Legacy, Johnald

    Scissors(4): lego_man724, MarioYoshiBoo

    Rock: 0

    Paper: -1

    Scissors: 1

It turns out, some people still chose to stick with paper, and those are people who are too lazy to think hard about the game, I am assuming. Tree_Legacy will probably change it in future rounds, being last. Cybersoap707 has done rock five times in a row; most likely he will not change it until round 8. At this triple tie, I would do paper.

    Round 6:

    Rock(5): Cybersoap707, Johnald, Tree_Legacy

    Paper(4): MarioYoshiBoo, Hephaestus

    Scissors(2):

    Rock: -2

    Paper: 3

    Scissors: -1

16 points. At this rate, paper earns three, rock loses two, and scissors loses one. Most people would pick paper because they are frustrated trying to outguess themselves, and others scissors. Obviously scissors beats paper, but is it worth minus four points? I would do paper.

    Round 7:

    Rock(7): Johnald, MarioYoshiBoo, Cybersoap707, Tree_Legacy

    Paper(3): Hephaestus

    Scissors(1): BlueSlimerino

Now that’s 22 points. As with last time’s strategy, pick paper or rock because people overthink themselves too much. Paper is greater than rock; pick paper.

    Round 8:

    Rock(6): BlueSlimerino, MarioYoshiBoo

    Paper(6): Tree_Legacy, lego_man724, Cybersoap707, Johnald, Hephaestus

    Scissors(1):

Our guess was correct; optimally 27 points.

And of course, we have our wheels.

    1st - Wheel of Life - @Hephaestus

    2nd-3rd - Wheel of Victory - @Cybersoap707, @lego_man724

    4th - Wheel of Balance - @Johnald

    5th-6th - Wheel of Shame - @MarioYoshiBoo, @Tree_Legacy

    7th - Wheel of Death - @BlueSlimerino

    And now the spins...

    39 - 3 Lucky Dice
    16 - -1 Strike(no negative strikes, sorry)
    67 - 1 Lucky Die
    29 - 1 Strike
    24 - 1 Strike
    75 - -1 Tier next spin
    It wasn't 1-25...
    It wasn't 26-49...
    50 - 2 Strikes
(and just ONE away from insta-elimination)

The Rigged Lucky Die was not earned. What did you all miss? You could have gotten a rigged lucky die by pointing out my timing error(“all rounds last 24 hours no exception”/”the first round lasts 48 hours”).

The next round will be set tomorrow.

    Match II: Coyote

    Slightly taken from https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/8172/coyote

You found me! Now do it again!

This game will be played in seven rounds, for that is how many players are left. Each player receives a random card from 1 to 10 without replacement each round, but you do not know your own card, but you know everyone else’s.

The goal of the game is to have the most points. Each player starts with 0 points.

How do you earn points? Easy.

In each round, all players have the option to claim an amount. In future claim, players must claim higher amounts. A player may challenge the current claim, and if it is higher than the total sum of card numbers, he loses points equal to the current claim, and the person who challenged gains points equal to the current claim. Otherwise, the claimer gains points equal to the current claim, and the person who challenged loses points equal to the current claim. If nobody challenges a claim or makes another claim in 24 hours, the claim is set, and that player claims points equal to his/her claim. Do this publicly, and in bold.

What do Lucky Dice do? They affect the next round. But what in particular? This:

    1) You lose ten points.

2-3) You are given a random value which your card is not and you do not know already.

    4) You gain ten points.

5-6) You get to pick a game modification from a list of three. This takes effect the round after you pick and future rounds.

For the first round, card 8 is replaced with a min() function. This will copy the value of the lowest card for its value.

All card PMs will be sent tomorrow.

Note that you CAN earn a rigged lucky die from this, too. And it's in this post.
