Don't worry about it, I used to do it too until @redx475 explained. That solution spread when someone couldn't join at all and a mod told them to join that node 7 ip, and then that player told other people who told other people who told other people who told other people who told us.

I'm not red, but I've read all of the following posts, so, don't worry, I did the same bad thing, until red told us why NOT to do that, so, here goes my best explanation: directly connecting to a node can cause the server to have trouble balancing the incoming requests, therefore, it's a very bad idea. If I'm wrong, red will tell all of us, I'm sure.

I have the rubber band effect riding on 1.8 on occasion, but not nearly as much as 1.9.

I don't think it drops you randomly backward, I think it updates where you are, but somehow combines it with your changing direction where you think you are. I have ended up in lava several times in Rodoroc, but not I believe, randomly. I believe from comparing where I was and where the lava was it took me a fifth of the way forward that I thought I was, and then registered my moving to the right (as you do to follow the tunnels curve) where it thought I was, which resulted in my jumping the bridge into lava.

I also experience the same effect in 1.8, I ride out of Cinfras toward Thanos. I get to the lake, and reach a chunk that hasn't loaded. I start taking damage. The first couple times I honestly thought I my life-force was being sapped by the void and I wondered "who the hell programmed that! That's attention to detail!" I died the first couple times.
Then I jumped off my horse the third or fourth time, reappeared maybe a third of the way, and it turned out the Organized Bandits I rode by were kicking the crap out of me.

Lastly, only in 1.9, I would leave the cave with the loot 4 by Gila Tower, and as I rode I would start sinking into the ground. Literally four times right at the base of the tower my head went under the ground and I started to fall into nothing past the usual Spectator mode view of underground chunks. It happened again once or twice, but only in 1.9. The weird part was there was no visible chunk loading issue, I simply started to sink into solid ground, then fall into nothing.

XavierEXE is correct, Glitch; you weren't the first person to suggest it, it was a mod. I don't remember who it was, and it's not important, but you weren't the first, and you aren't to blame.

I have read some interesting explanations for the horse bug so far.
    Here is mine:

Changing to 1.9 Mojang reorganized the horse mechanics.
Now horses are not controlled by the server anymore (so you won't stop riding during lags).
A side effect of horses controlled by the clients and communicating with the servers is, that lags cause a difference between the client and the servers position.
For me, it is quite normal because I live in Europe and have a minimum ping of ~100ms.
Every µ-lag causes the difference to increase.
If I'm right, it is a bug in Minecraft - not just Wynncraft.
What Mojang has to do to fix this, is improving the communication between client and server and recalibrating every difference.
This may cause weird teleportation like movement (just for others looking at the riding player).
Let's hope they find a solution very soon.

Lemme clear this up: Connecting to a node directly doesn't hurt the server unless absolutely everyone does it (which isn't a problem). It only hurts your experience.

By all means, connect to a specific node if you can't seem to get the normal address to work, but every now and again try to use the normal address. The biggest reason is that we sometimes need to make changes to nodes (for example, we pulled a number of them offline a couple of weeks ago) and if you try directly connecting to a nonexistent node, well then you're out of luck. If you use the normal address, nothing bad will happen.

Again, use nodes explicitly if you absolutely have to but please try to use the normal address otherwise.
