What do you mean by "Wynn is Olm" and Eye of the Storm was a "mistake"? I have found a lot of this info from the Wiki, the Sealed Letters, Fantastic Voyage, Dern Province, and origins of Decay and Corruption, as the Elves say, Decay may have come from the villager's greed, starting The War Of The Realms as hinted in the logo, but we know Dern's content is near finished, therefor no need to theorize or study what is soon to arrive, but it is Fruma that has so little lore and so far no info of us ever getting anything from it, perhaps theorizing the bigger, more unclear mystery of Fruma may be worth a try. Fruma is the player's and the human race's homeland and area of origin, but anyone who leaves the province is forbidden to return and will forget all about their homeland, this spell may have been cast by the Fruman Monarch, a symbol of hate on Wynn for opening up the Corruption or because Wynn gained more power, she isn't willingly wanting to support them, the Fruman Monarch doesn't wish to support anyone actually, Sohso ran to Fruma in hopes of reversing the insanity of his brothers, he was slaughtered, we don't know what did but it was most likely the stubborn stature of Fruma that had shown no mercy, just like Qira did to the Villagers when asked to deal with the Decay, she is up to something, strong magic is at her hands yet she only uses it for herself, what could this magic be? Is she in secret the last surviving Twain? There's no evidence for this but she apparently she is treated like more of a god than a monarch, having so much power at her hands but never using or showing it or having any signs of achieving this power, but Fruma decided to support Wynn once more with new recruits, but this only made Fruma inferior to Wynn, Wynn now being a strong land of warriors, she only then decided to cast the powerful spell so they no longer remember Fruma, as a curse for them abandoning their homeland and strengthening Wynn, what's happening inside is a mystery for another day.

 

As we’ve seen with the spreading forces in Wynn so far (Corruption, Darkness), when the source of the evil is removed the evil itself stops spreading. These sources can be minor sources, like destroying the angry village’s corrupt spike and stopping the spreading insanity, or something much larger, like the Abysso boots that could have potentially tainted the entire Dernel Jungle had they not been contained. The source of the main corruption itself is the Nether portal from which all the corrupt roots shoot from.

The corruption is only caused in the Realm of Light because of a collision between light and dark. Namely, the seeds in the realm. Thus, the darkness is essentially the source of the corruption in the realm of light. When you destroy the seeds, the darkness is gone, so the corruption stops spreading. As seen with the mansion, though it stops spreading, it does not begin healing however. It simply remains.

 

Well, The Nether may be a realm stuck between the light and ark forces, leading to the Nether being corrupted, and the corruption coming out from within the Portal, leading to the RoC,
On the topic of Darkness, I still think the secret discovery in the Mines and where you explore in Fantastic Voyage is Dern, the "land of Darkness"
Now, Given the fact The Dark seeds are In the Light Realm, which is in Gavel, i'd say a Similar Effect would happen in Dern, where Light, similar to the decay in gavel, has been creating corruption within Dern itself, but that the Light is the cause of it, instead of the Dark,
