Oooh interesting. I'm sure there's like a dozen spoilers in that poll WAAAY back where you asked about the three different story options. I saw binary moon and I was like "ohhhh, the that one! the the the uhh... that one!"
Hmm, I'm interested in the how the plot is gonna turn out, knowing you it's gonna be super meta.

Ill try my best! And yeah, I'm considering deleting the old thread so no spoilers leak. But the storylines have evolved since then, and one of them is completely different!

Curious, I think you're already going down this path, but are you gonna have a lot of the aspects of the story discovered? Like through intuition.
One of my favorite series does that for the origin story and you kind of discover along with the main character what's going on and how to stop it, and I really love the mystery aspect to things.

 

can I just assume the completely blacked out character represents the narrator?

 

So the current characters we know are:
Main Characters in Binary Moon:

Daniel Hall (Have met and is the main character)
Melanie Dursgrove (Have met)
James Kleptofan
Samantha Thompson
Holden-Schmitt

Support characters:
Ms. Erlenmeyer (English Teacher)

Unknown placement:
Narrator (have met)

 

I Will certainly try to. It is a thin tightrope between the character knowing more then the viewer, and the viewer knowing more then the character. Maybe I can pull it off? If I end up leaning to one side, there are ways to right myself though.

Yep! Was the prologue really that confusing? If it is hard to tell who is who, I might opt for a different dialogue approach, maybe with more traditional word bubbles.

 

Well right now really the only person it could be is the narrator, because he is the only other character we have met. However that may make sense, as the narrator is telling you the story of these people, not the others, so he marked them out on the banner.

Again, as you said, it is probably impossible to know yet. Just a theory with basically no evidence to keep me satisfied until there are better suspects.

 

Side note: Finally got my signature working

I personally thought the prologue was pretty straightforward. It's obvious the blacked out guy was talking to someone who was pissed. Then he finishes and addresses the reader which was an interesting part. For that part only, I was fine with having all the text at the bottom, especially because there was so much of it.

For the mystery part, it's often interesting to have the character and the reader have the same amount of info, both kind of "work together" to figure things out

 

Oh also important to note that comics will be coming out at Midnight PST. That's when most comics do it, so why not?

If this is a problem for anyone I could certainly change the time.

 

Just reread the first 18 panels because I noticed you put messages that appear when you scroll over them. Neat.

 

When it's not a problem because you procrastinate to midnight anyways...

 

How will panels be released? Every week? Every day? Every month? When you have time? When you finish a chapter?
And how many at a time?

 

They are called the Alt Text. I will be sometimes putting extra jokes in them.

 

As an avid reader of xkcd, I'm very disappointed that I missed that...
It also totally psyched me out when you didn't put in alt-text on some of the prologue panels. I went to inspect element just to make sure

 

Every single day. No exceptions. This is because of a wonderful tool called the buffer, where I make the comics ahead of time. I currently have 25 buffer comics, and will probably have more soon.

For the how many question, that depends on how many I can afford to post and not lose my buffer, and also how many panels are needed to stop at a good point for the day. Tomorrows is 4 panels, and the next few days after that will be one panel. Its a crawl, but I hope to someday ramp up speed.

I'm not sure if Pixel Art really works with merch... Maybe shirts of the logo for a one year anniversary?

Btw, reading in order doesn't particularly matter at all for xkcd.com It's a bunch of jokes basically, order matters a little in the rare case he references a previous comic or there's a short 4-10 panel arc.
Be sure to read his what-ifs as well. They're my primary source of knowledge for completely unrelated and useless topics.

I think you could design a pretty cool logo pretty fast.
Also maybe a scene from the story modified with higher res?
Like the binary moon system rising in the background with the train rumbling by and Daniel sitting looking out the window.

Just some possible thoughts

 

Ill have to think about it. I can think of some later scenes that could work very well with a logo, but I do not want to think too far ahead. Need to stay realistic for the first 3 months at least.
