More attempts at expanding the Wynncraft Lore... and building up to something very ominous.

The following text have been transcribed verbatim from the travel logs of a human researcher from Grookwarts, in 995 AP.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

The conflict between the Dwarves and the Doguns have been well documented, albeit with a lopsided perspective, ever since the wars first broke out in 1st century AP. They have been depicted as demons who sought only death and destruction, to drive out the Dwarves out of Rodoroc. This is true to a fault - the Doguns did not want it to come to violence. It was the Dwarves who wished to exterminate the Doguns for simply trying to commune and resist their attempts to "conquer" the Molten Heights.

We have been denied access to the Royal Library of Rodoroc, and the locals were uncooperative, all pointing towards the known canon of Doguns being seen as demon incarnates whose sole existence was to purge the Dwarves from their rightful home. There is no evidence pointing towards this statement, as it seems to be merely folklore. So I gave up on that avenue sadly.

While I was retreating to my quarters in Maex, I noticed a strange string of symbols. It's almost as if it was written for someone, but I could not make out what it was. Even worse, the symbols kept shifting, so it was impossible for anyone to translate it. It was as if whoever wrote this did not want anyone to see it.

One dwarf stepped forward and said to my research team that within these walls, walls that which carried those shifting symbols, was the abode of the Master Smith, who worked on a commission basis, but never showed their face, save for an inlet for people to offer their emeralds. People offered whoever this "Master Smith" was big money for them to create the weapon of their dreams, saying that whoever was behind these walls had an acumen for smithing so massive that they were the golden standard of all blacksmiths across the globe. Merely hearing the name "Master Smith of Maex" would fill up the auction houses to the brim, at some point I have witnessed one of their creations be sold for upwards of millions of emeralds! When the weapon were to be delivered by this unseen smith, it would simply appear right next to the person when they woke up, as if it simply materialized out of nowhere. I've been also told that they felt a brief surge of heat while they were asleep, which was something they were used to, since they were living in the heart of a massive volcano.

Unfortunately, nobody has seen this elusive Master Smith at work, and I don't know if anyone will be ever able to decipher the writings on the wall in some weird corner of Maex behind which they reside. The symbols are continuously shifting, and the fact that nobody can understand these symbols make me believe that whoever wrote this does not want to be understood. The Maexi dwarves dismiss it as decoration, which I should probably do as well. Maybe it's for the best. Below is the image of these symbols as they appear, if you wish to take a look at it:

UPDATE - 999 AP: I have returned to Maex and it appears the symbols have shifted again. The area in which the symbols showed up was sealed up, some of the dwarven officials stated that nobody, not even the Maexi, were to enter the immediate area, after a hapless dwarf was suddenly incinerated in a pool of lava that formed right underneath their feet. I was right about leaving that cavern alone...

UPDATE - 1000 AP: The store is back at business, with a note attached on the wall where the emerald inlet still is:
I wonder what that festival is about.
The symbols shift and swirl, before finally translating to a language you are able to understand. It appears to be another letter, this time addressed to the apparent owner of the smithing emporium that operates behind these molten walls.

    Orienor,

It has come to my attention that your smithing knowledge far exceeds anyone in this world. Shame that the dwarves could not see past the face and resort to genocidal behavior that has threatened to drive your art to extinction. I am aware that you are hard at work, so I have tasked an ethereal "envoy" to gradually etch this letter over the course of 900 years. More than enough time for a Dogun smith to finish his masterpiece... and just enough time to warn you about what is to come.

Soon, this world will be engulfed in darkness and decay. Deadly forces are at work. The polar opposites are clashing with each other. None of this may make sense to you now, and I do not intend for any of it to do. A hero will rise one day to end an ancient clash that threatens to consume this world. To end the imbalance that was kept unchecked for centuries. A disaster that could've been averted if it were not for our hubris.

I assume you are familiar with Kanderite, yes? It is soft, somewhat pliable, easy to work with. Its softness makes people assume it is unsuitable for weapons. Indeed, it isn't. It's meant to be alloyed. You will know what to do with it once the Hero of Wynn makes his way to your abode, for they need your help to cull one of many sources of the blight that affects you and your kin. Not the Dwarves... but something else.

When your problems are solved, let the Dwarves know that their so called "Master Smith" was, in fact, a Dogun. Remind them that artisanry has no race, and that you did what you did to keep honing your skills so that one day you would be ever so closer to creating your swan song.

For anyone who's wondering, I'm pretty sure that the Wynnic at the end of the letter is Latin for "Peace"

None of this is canon. This is Your Work, not Your Canon.
Yes it is (exact translation: "Peace be with you"). And expect it to be a recurring thing.
