    Hi there, back

After looking at Qira's skin in Singleplayer one more time, I deeply apologise to you for not noticing her resemblance to the Olms any sooner
I hope you can forgive me for this grave error

Okay but how close is close though? Because if that’s how Selvut would draw Qira, then she’s definitely not a villager due to the nose. She must be a human then.

But that doesn’t make much sense either because she’s definitely older than 100 years old. In particular, in Selvut’s stories on Qira on the forums, she talks about the standoff between her and the monarchy’s forces after she refused to help with the Decay. Gavel’s monarchy fell in 750 AP, making this event at least 250 years old. Humans only knew of Gavel 100 years ago.

So unless Selvut is preparing to unveil a convoluted plot of how Qira as a human got to Gavel on her own and became more powerful than anyone else to the point she doesn’t age, we can interpret “closest depiction” of Qira as meaning she’s accurate except missing her villager nose.

The Olm died out long before humans even knew of Gavel. Given how there are no Olm ruins past Time Valley and the Silent Expanse, there’s no evidence they ever reached or settled on Wynn’s coastline, let alone sailed across the ocean.

I'm not saying the Olm could've traveled to Gavel. I'm saying Qira could've.

Unrelated to her race, it could be possible that qira wields monster. (The wand)

I feel like if she were a villager she would look more like one in-game, even villagers using player models still have eyes and noses that resemble those of regular villagers, like the Faltachs

I initially thought that too, but her head model has her head covered by a hood, and her face is darkened by it. Like how in other cartoons hooded figures have a black face except for their eyes:
    upload_2023-9-29_21-27-24.jpeg

So Qira’s face isn’t (probably) literally black and it’s possible her hood is also obscuring her villager nose.

But then that begs the question that why did Qira survive but everyone else didn’t? Or why didn’t she then stay in the Wynn province? And how come Qira isn’t mentioned in the legends or history of Wynn despite being a powerful, ancient sorceress? The only Olm that’s alive is Garoth, but that’s because he was in a sanctum that was separated from reality.

I mean sure, this is fiction, so Selvut could come up with any explanation and it doesn’t have to make sense, but from what has been set so far it just doesn’t make much sense for any Olm to be involved with Gavel. Especially to the extent that Qira is.

These are really good inquiries! We're pretty much just speculating right now, so I don't think we can look for a factual answer to these questions.

I'd say Qira might've left the Wynn province because the forces of Darkness is there. It has been implied that Qira feels and is powerless against the Darkness, and might've looked for a refuge where she can train and build an army.

Perhaps she went to Gavel to learn from the Light. Anya, an Olm, believed that "The lightest light will never defeat the darkest dark. Only those who understand both can survive." Perhaps Qira was made aware of this by Anya herself, and went to Gavel to seek and understand the Light.

I do want to note that Qira is not currently involved with the Light at all, which makes my second statement not make a lot of sense. Though the first statement still does.

    ________________________________
Qira might've been just an average Olm. The Olmic people are known to have great control over magic. The common folk sees Qira as a powerful sorceress, but her power might just be equal with that of the other Olms', making her, well, not that notable.

Also the Mysterious Merchant in Tempo Town is also an Olm.

Well not all the Olm died. Some survived and sought refuge in the Dernel Jungle.

Maybe Qira found hope and company instead. (I'm referring to Gale. Maybe she met Gale.)

    1. Qira finding Gale could be a way she found herself in Gavel. I mean Gale has been to the Wynn province before so it's not a that far of a stretch that they could've met there too.
    2. Qira being an Olm could give reason for her army against the darkness while not siding with the light too. Olm's were attacked by the darkness (which honestly I dont get why they could've been the dern version of elves and could've had more servants).

Also she could might not of even been made to have a species, she was just qira. They could assign a species to her eventually or leave it up in the.. air. (Gale pun).

Some more info just reading up on is her face is at least somewhat purple:
"Her face got all purply...like, you know how whiter-skinned folks' faces get all red? That's her equivalent." - Gale talking about Qira
Gale: It's kind of an open secret that she's got trade deals with Aldorei and the dojo for all sorts of things. - So maybe some sort of light alliance...?
