It's a fun game, but very hard. I still haven't beaten it. (Been trying since Friday.)

 

Here's a couple of good god tier teams for you to use:
Nepeta, Sollux, Aradia, Gamzee

Use Nepeta to shred through enemies defences, and Aradia to stall them while you collect orbs. You can use Gamzee's ability to give yourself 9000 Health back and collect a bunch of orbs. Use Sollux to completely destroy your enemies with his Doom.

Nepeta, Jake, Roxy, Mindfang

Nepeta's use is the same, shredding through enemies' defences. Jake is your living 1up, just make sure you have a lot of light orbs to fuel is full heal which costs 30 (50 is good to have it on ready with a fallback). Use Roxy when you know an enemy is about to use a powerful move (Like with Equius, he will take 1 turn to gather strength and the next to attack, so use Roxy then) as she negates all damage for 1 turn. Her ability is cheap too, so you can use it for 20 purple orbs and have another one ready and waiting to be used. Mindfang operates like a more powerful yet supportive Nepeta. For 40 Blue orbs, she can poison the enemy for 10 turns, dealing 1x your damage but ignoring all defence. This works on even the toughest bosses like The Grand Highblood, whose gimmick is that you shouldn't be able to piece defence so you're stuck doing 1 damage until he kills you.

The first party helped me grind a lot of the planets by switching out Aradia for the required character, but the second party allowed me to beat Alternia. I would also highly suggest beating Sollux's planet ASAP as his denizen, Nemesis, grants you 10 of each orb at the start of battle.
