Just a thought. While nighthawk in 1.20 might be less powerful than it is right now, it's actually still very very strong.
1. While damage is lower, DPS is will still remain 2 times that of normal arrow storm.

2. The range being lowered isn't that big of a deal, considering that Nighthawk could easily hit LI bosses from across the arena before. Now it's actually realistic.

 

Just to add, although definitely not intentional, the vertical momentum (in extremely rare cases) can be reset by escaping over a block directly at escape's highest point (for example escaping like 1 "pixel" right over a leaf block from a tree at escape's peak height, not touching the block but almost touching it).

im cool with your counterarguments but i still dispute the escape mechanics (probs miscommunication tbf)

i assume you already commit to casting it in my argument, since you imply that you don't find much use for its falling mechanics. ofc it's not ideal to throttle dps by casting it in the first place but faster falling generally makes sense. you can probably land bomb at least (even if nothing else, which i think you have a fair shot at) even while falling at any speed, and resetting shield is a fair choice here if you can't aim.

 

1.20 arrow storm:

400% dmg

Same range as normal arrow storm

Can be cast 4 times as fast as normal arrow storm resulting in up to 1600% dmg (normal arrow storm does 600%)

No risk (no fun)

 

its true! you need to have iffy ping to pull it off(and i also use wynntils spell hotkeys to make it a bit easier), but the general gist is that you spam L so much that it registers the cast while you are still really close to the ground, letting you cast it twice

this is SO annoying with trift olily

 

This is a very good guide, I honestly hope similar ones are made for other classes because there's lots of tech in them as well.
I really should do some testing on escape mobility given how many finicky things there are related to it.

You actually don't need lag, it's a thing you can do consistently if you can hit very high cps (likely 10-13 ish I think, I haven't measured). You can also, if you have enough lag, get quadruple+ escapes (one day I was lagging in void valley and cast escape like 10 times in a row during a spike, then I went rocketing off a cliff but only 4 or so actually registered)

 

Good guide. One minor nitpick, it is not necessarily optimal on average to concentrate remaining defensive sp in one or the other, though this is usually true (see my sig for more details).
