World Temporary Chatbans

Before you hate me and start complaining, I didn't find this anywhere on the Forums.

I had this just today when a guy called Derr_Fluss spammed me with full chats of PMs only containing 'N's because I told him (not firendly but appropriate) to piss off after he spammed he wnts to have 2 LE and you couldn't talk in the chat.

Due to this, I would highly appreciate of you support my Idea:

If a Player totally spams another Player or the whole chat you can report him with a Video or Screenshots
This Player then gets a Chatban of line 1 day, getting +12 hours every time he gets reported (1st: 1d; 2nd: 1d 12h etc)

I hope you consider this good.

And remove "Thread goals," they just make it seem more desperate.

Or actually, don't; you can already report a player for harassment and they should get muted. Alternatively, just support one of the billion "/ignore" suggestions.

All people wanting a /ignore command just want to not get any more spam.
But if you ignore some1 this person could annoy any other person who didn't block him.
Temporary chatbans on the other hand will either make Spammers stop or make people get rid of them for the time they're online

and they can also use /ignore, without needing to go through a moderator and end up waiting so long that it was irrelevant

this won't stop spammers any more than the fear of being reported and muted will
people using /ignore and having their spam be rendered completely useless probably won't be much better at stopping spammers from trying to spam, but it's much for effective at blocking out the spam

you're assuming that somebody that spams once is immediately somebody who will constantly spam everyone, which is just not true. There's no reason to stop players from being able to chat what-so-ever when a much more efficient and effective solution exists.

 

But a person just spamming one other person is still a jackass, so you should maybe introduce botj

 

That is not our problem to worry about, whether or not the CT sees these threads is beyond me, but spamming the same idea over and over again won't give it recognition.

 

that's a pretty big jump to a conclusion. most people are probably just upset or confused. Being ignored is punishment enough, and even then being ignored already solves the solution. If they're not causing a problem, they don't need to be further punished. It would be like putting a prisoner inside a smaller prison, inside the prison.

actually that's a bad analogy since that's a real thing that has real reasoning behind it, but it doesn't apply to this situation so the point is that doing both, or even just doing """chatbans""" is overkill.
