Maybe the emeralds in the field are implying that we can now become farmers and make money by harvesting and selling our crop

I think everyone has given up on solving this

 

It it hard to find a solution to a thing that doesn't have one.

 

It’s literally just a wheat field with a few emeralds and berry bushes. There’s nothing that we know so far that could be hinting about anything.

 

But then why would it be here

 

Salted is a shitpost master. He’ll meme you death if he gets the chance.

That or there might be something, but Salted overestimated the playerbase.

 

Salted already more or less confirmed that this was a teaser of sorts. A very unclear, obscure, and vague teaser.

 

Well then, purple berries, weak zombie, farm, emeralds and no corn. This is 127% a teaser.

 

People often run out of things to do and get bored, so perhaps this is hinting towards a new totally separate new idea, like berry farming, maybe you'll be able to sell them in a similar way to the Selchar Reef mechanic (i.e. different berries are worth more/less). Or maybe there could be side missions coming, like a farmer can set you a side-quest to get them 5 raspberries, 3 blueberries and a strawberry (Or something better xD) and then you can get a small amount of xp and emeralds for giving them to the farmer. This would mean travelling around to find the right bushes and would give players a new way to get emeralds and xp.

There was also a teaser back along with fish and a piston, so maybe there'll be a similar plan for fishing?

This is most likely a Summer Update Teaser. With Berries shown in the Screenshot, Raspberries, Grapes and Strawberries as an iconic representation of Summer Fruits, and the lush and full-of-life imagery of the farm, with growing Wheat, Bushes and that top-hat wearing Scarecrow, it could be hinting that the next big update will be coming around the June to August.

On average, we get sales post every 3 - 4 months or so, and this statement implies that the next post in the News Section will be an update post.


Some people have also speculated the possibilities of players harvesting berries, and selling it for emeralds. If I was a game designer, it would be a pretty cool idea to use these berries for brewing potions, though I think this speculation could be a stretch.

However, adding more activities where players get to interact with the environment is a very good way to immerse players into the game, and the CT has attempted many times to do this for the many new areas, and points of interest such as the Reef (Secrets and high level loot chests also require the use of interacting the environment). This update could be introducing some farming activity or quest around Ragni.

 

The next update is Road to Dern, but I would love to see that as well. I love gameplay additions that aren't just areas or quests, but actual mechanics (like last update adding discoveries)

 

Eh, these "Spice of Life" updates (assuming that's what this teaser is even hinting at) could be bundled in with R2D, or they could come out as a minor update that preempts/follows the next quest & storyline update. Either way, the content team is definitely hard at work to bring us some quality gameplay and I look forward to whatever they release, berryliscious or otherwise :)
