Some Criticism About The Silent Expanse

The Decay visually suffers from way too much noise. Just look at this picture: you can't tell the ground from the trees (or anything else)

The Dark and Kander forests are the worst areas in the game as far as aesthetics + music go.

 

I would argue that the Kander Forest is one of the best in terms of aesthetics and music (with the exception of the random cobwebs or whatever on the trees). Concur on Dark Forest though.

Gelibord is cool music and design wise but otherwise yeah

I mean, just because it’s intentional doesn’t mean it’s good. Loot boxes are scummy but game devs don’t put them in on accident

Yeah, Gelibord and (some of) the quests in those areas are really the only redeeming factors in my opinion.

One word that dismisses all your criticism. Intentional.

Not referring to every bit of criticism anyone has about Wynn. Please read carefully, its just 8 words that have a completely different meaning because you misread it or didn't understand what the word "your" is trying to convey. This is referring to OP.

Also on loot boxes (I assume you are not talking about Loot Chests) they're cosmetics that you buy with real money, its completely your decision to buy it and it is an important revenue stream for Wynncraft to keep going, nothing scummy about it, it isn't pay to win due to Mojangs EULA. If you would like cosmetics on Wynncraft, something completely optional then pay up for them.

Fair enough; I’m just used to the phrases you/your being used as a general pronoun describing the audience as a whole

I’m also fine with loot boxes in Wynn since it’s a self sustained free to play minecraft server; I’m more talking about the practice in general in the industry and in AAA gaming and the criticism surrounding that, especially back in 2016/17, as valid.

I agree. People like to hate on places in Gavel and while it gets really bad sometimes I think Kander Forest mostly needs some cleaning up, especially around the riverbanks and I would love for the Forbidden Prison and Pit of Despair to be updated to the current build style. All the quests are, while not terrible, in desperate need of a revamp as well. The Dark Forest kinda sucks at everything, except for the fact that it has Taproot and Memory Paranoia (also please revamp the RoL questline, Taproot is good, but could use with some mechanical/build updating and maybe the exposition could be slightly changed to set up the whole "War of the Realms" better, the other two are just bad). A dungeon is long overdue and most of it is little more than a woodcutting spot for level 60-70.

HOWEVER, I think a lot of our attention is often brought to the Decay part of Gavel, but nobody seems to be talking about the real culprit: Llevigar plains. Seriously, the world borders are more interesting than the area itself. Llevigar itself is super outdated and is just depressing to look at a lot of the time, especially the slabspam towers. There is one good quest and that's Heart of Llevigar. Clearing the Camps and Green Skinned Trouble are the same quest and Star Thief is one of the most forgettable quests in the game on top of being a pretty bad introduction to cosmic magic. Rise of Quartron is a fun quest concept, but needs to be revamped and An Iron Heart I is just bad in every way and part II is just fine as a standalone quest anyways. The plains themselves are, well, plain. The mini-forests have no purpose and have cobblestone as the ground for some reason, which looks really weird. There are a lot of caves with nothing in them and some are way too deep to the point where their only purpose seems to be to annoy people. The enemy variety is disappointing. Does anyone actually want Orcs in Wynncraft? Yeah, real creative. The resource unique (?) to the Llevigar plains is... hops. Karoc Quarry is completely wasted. Was there any reason not to have Quartz be a resource? I actually can't think of anything good about Llevigar plains as even the music is terrible.
