Writing this I realized that literally only Fraise doesn't have silver hair. Praised be the old people. Also, sorry for the delay and the eh photo of the brazier, but I needed to put a reference down.

Also, have a small timeline of what my last two weeks were like.

December 3rd; Finishing the reply, internet goes down when I'm going to read for mistakes and rewriting, finished on phone.
December 2nd; Wrote 20% of the reply, checked for mistakes or to make it clearer.
December 1st; Family visit, wrote 40% reply.
November 30; Family over, rewriting essay, wrote 15% of reply.
November 29th; Essay, started the reply.
    November 28th; Essay.

    November 26th; Physics test, study.
    November 25th; Study for exam.

And before that, school trips, more exams and a cold. Thank you for coming to my rant talk, goodnight.

( For real though, thank you all for waiting for this hell to be over, I had nearly no time these past two weeks and it has been eating me from the inside to keep you guys waiting for so long. )

    2271 words, wooo

The intoxicating scent of spices and myrrh stuck in the air on one of the busiest streets of Thunhet, metropole in Heril. Walking around the streets of his hometown, Deton van Heimer avoided meeting the stares from the uncanny and literally empty-eyed citizens and vendors. The sockets void of eyes stared with a wicked smile at the silver-haired man as he paced quickly down the crowded road. Gazing further ahead, the man saw an unusual gathering of people in a known building.

Reaching the group that encircled the shop of his family, Deton looked down at the event that caused the gathering with utter horror. The vague scrawny and bloodied form of a woman was being stoned by the public, each rock drawing blood out of the paper-thin skin. Clutching his hands into fists, the man began making his way over to the woman, extending his arm forward to her, and then he fell.

Waking up in the comfortable bed of Desirré, the highest class brothel in uptown Kharthab, Fraise took in the fragrant lemon scent of the room he was in. Sighing happily for finally being back home, the man sat on the bed and looked out the window of his room. Black spirals of smoke painted the blue sky, created by the fires in buildings streets below. Faint screams filled the streets below, barely making through the clear glass of the room's window. Oh, how beautiful was the sound of arson by the morning!

Smiling, Fraise got up and went towards his cabinet, opening one of the drawers with a happy hum. Taking the all that was inside, including a picturesque doll of a girl. Pacing around his room, the Aatsuran swung and shook the doll, acting with utter neglect towards it. Growing tired of the ordeal with the puppet, the man threw the doll away and his dagger right after it, pinning the figurine against the wall. Leaving the room, the man didn't observe the blood flowing down the wall, coming from the wounded doll. Once outside his bedroom, Fraise wasn't met with the expected corridor leading to the other rooms, but instead with complete and utter darkness.

Wandering around aimlessly through the seemingly infinite dark void, the two men walked separately for an eternity. With the only sound being that of footsteps on a hard floor, each decided separately to stop their walk for a rest. Nevertheless, upon sitting down the reality around the two suddenly shifts. Both men find themselves standing in front of a great brazier, lit with green flames. The pair did not care much for each other's presence, instead choosing to focus on two other smaller braziers, seemingly far away and above in the air. They were shocked, however, then those same green flames began moving.

The eerie and cold sound of chains dragging on raspy stone filled the previous silence and maintained the two paralyzed, the flames above flickering and following the slow movement of whatever enormous figure was hiding in the shadows. Once the thing stopped moving, both Fraise and Deton had a clear view of what lied in front of them; Standing at least fifteen meters of height, a cloak covered loosely the large skeleton of some unknown humanoid, with two curved horns sprouting from the sides of its head. The two green flames that had been seen before levitated on the empty eye sockets of the creature that maintained its jaw closed in a face that uncomfortably resembled a smile, looking down on the humans with calm and menacing interest.

Backing away from the threatening aura of the being, the men were stopped as the creature pointed its skeletal finger towards the ominous flames of the great brazier. Forced to look, the pair watched as with a sudden burst the fire transmuted into the picture of a young woman dancing happily. A small group laughed alongside the woman and danced together, in a happy picture. With another burst, the image changed, still depicting the same girl, but with her pierced by several black spikes. The scenario changed again, this time to said small group mourning over the death of the girl. It stayed in that image for painfully long, before transforming one last time.

In what seemed to be dunes, like that of Aatsura, a small completely black dot appeared from the 'ground'. Slowly growing into the form of a man, it continued beyond the size of a human, eventually so large it could embrace both Deton and Fraise easily, no longer an illusion. With open arms and what could only be assumed to be a smile, the shadow started closing it's arms around the two, slowly engulfing them in darkness.

    ----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//------

Suddenly opening his eyes and looking around attentively, Fraise calmed down once he recognized his surroundings. Deton brushed his hands together by his side, seemingly distressed as well. Turning to face the Aatsuran, the silver-haired man looked him in the eyes and began. "Did you see that thing as-"

Saraha, who was still sleeping with open eyes until that moment, suddenly began moving. "Prepare your items. We're almost arriving at our second stop."

As the two looked outside, a small wood cabin appeared from behind the dense treeline in a hill further ahead.

Tirën frowned and groaned as he felt someone nudge his shoulder. Pulling the sheets over his head, the young boy tried to scurry away from that which bothered his sleep. After a few moments of silence and a sigh of satisfaction, the boy felt a hard thump on his back and fell down his bed onto the hardwood floor. "Wake up already, 'linthat'!"

Getting up with a jump, Tirën threw the sheets on the floor and looked horrified at his sister, Nalii. "Hey! That's a naughty word, what if someone heard it?!" Scolded the boy, which only got the girl to stick her tongue out in mocking. "You're lame!"

"No, you are!" Answered the boy, slapping the girl's hand weakly. The situation soon evolved in the two slapping away at each others' hands. Interrupted by a tall man coming through the door, the children immediately looked at the hunter that stood with a cold stare at the doorstep. With a height of at least two meters, the man was covered from head to toe in the hides of animals, most being wolves. Only his head stuck out of the hide coating, with long hair and beard, the latter braided. Tirën knew that under the hide was layers of strong leather clothes, as durable as any iron armour available in the village. With a recurve longbow on his back and a big bearded axe in hand, the Damascus steel head probably so heavy that the two children couldn't raise it together.

"Grab your knives and bows. Today we hunt." Said the man, his rough voice filling the silence of the house. Quickly running towards the equipment in the far corner of the room, Nalii left the other two alone. "What are we hunting, uncle Intha?" Asked shily the small boy. Turning to the child, the hunter put his axe on his belt. "We are hunting deer."

    ----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//------

Once in the forest, the trio walked quietly, taking in all the possible sounds of animals and trying to find tracks of deer. The amount of snow was small compared to the passing weeks, only a dozen centimetres thick, which meant that Spring was soon to come. After several hours of searching, Intha informed the group with a simple hand movement to stop behind a bush. Staring at a passing stag, at least twice as big as the normal ones, the hunter prepared his bow in synchrony with the other two. With a nod, the three shot their arrows at the same time, the hunter's going through the animal's chest and the girl's hitting it in one of the calves. Tirën's arrow was the only one that missed its target, grazing the animal's front leg and stuck into the ground. With a judgemental stare towards the little boy, the hunter got up and investigated the stag.

"As I thought. This is one of the animals from Efrelain." Said coldly the tall man. Raising his axe to hit the agonizing animal's neck, the hunter struck down and freed the stag of its life. With their respective knives, the three of them began skinning the corpse, taking off the few useless parts of the huge hide. Working silently and efficiently, the trio finished their work after an hour, at which point all got up. Pointing a finger to the pile of hide folded atop the snow, Intha looked at Tirën. "You carry the hide." With a nod, the boy set to his task. Turning to the girl this time, the hunter pointed to a small bag, which had the antlers near it. "You carry the hooves and the antlers."

Waiting for the children to get their respective items, the tall man then took upon himself to carry the corpse of the giant stag. Putting the legs across his shoulders and dragging the animal along, the trio made their way back to the village. As they made their way over, Tirën heard a rustling in the leaves behind the group. Turning around to see it, the boy saw a great grey wolf...

    ----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//----------//------

... A great grey wolf stared down at Wren, who still had his mind numb due to the Mist. Sitting up and looking around to attempt to understand his whereabouts, the cloaked boy rubbed his eyes and adjusted his clothes. His spear and knife were by his side on the stone floor, and upon some inspection, the boy saw everything else was in place. Everything around him was indicative of a cave, with a single entrance leading outside with a bright light that hurt the man's eyes. Wren then turned around, facing the wolf.

The animal stood proudly as it gazed upon the young man with smart amber eyes, as tall as the sitting boy. It didn't seem to have any intent on attacking him, otherwise, it would have done it already.

Darx felt a sudden surge of power reaching through his fingers towards the rune, as if the fear he felt imbued the magic with further energy. Activating his wind rune, the silver-haired boy felt a heavy wind blow from behind him, hitting the headless knight with full force. The longsword was thrown far away behind the figure, which staggered backwards, struggling to maintain itself standing. Once the teen judged the creature enough distance away from himself, he aimed another 'Woosh' rune towards the ground and activated it.

Not taking into account the extra power of the runes, the teenager was thrown high into the air. 'At least I'm going towards the carriage', thought Darx, in a brief moment of clear-headedness. Once the fall began, the silver-head braced himself for impact, but was surprised to find himself in a somewhat soft surface. Looking to his side, he saw that the caravan driver had managed to catch the boy in her arms. Taking notice of the third rune in Darx's hands, the woman took the rune from him and threw the injured boy onto the seat of the carriage.

Holding the engraved stone down strongly against the wood of the vehicle, the magical effect soon took place. The fabric and wood slowly became invisible, giving a clear view of the unholy set of armour. It seemed confused, looking around before charging down the road, which probably meant it couldn't see the duo nor the carriage. After a couple of tense minutes of waiting, the driver turned back to Darx. "We gotta move. You're okay? Can you keep watch, did you let anything important fall?"

From further ahead in the road, the silver-haired boy saw a glimpse of metal. The teen's mind ran through possibilities, before settling on the most probable answer; The knight's longsword.

    "So?" Asked the driver.

(This is one of the event items btw, your choice to have it or not.)

    A wolf.
    ...
    It's not attacking.
    Intelligence?
    Where am I?
    What does it want?
    Am I dreaming?
Slowly reach for the knife, keeping an eye on the wolf. If it shows aggression towards me, try to grab the spear with one hand, and kick out at it. Otherwise, prick my thumb with the knife.

( I'm sorry since this is the second time I ask you about your actions, but do you plan on attacking the knight even though it's not close to you? The sword and the knight went opposite ways, with you blowing the sword 'ahead' and the knight going towards where you came from. )

The wolf slowly sits down and continues looking at Wren, watching as the boy gets his knife out and holds the point against his thumb, drawing blood. As the pain was very much real, the boy guessed it was not a dream.

Saraha peeked out the wagon as she spoke, calm and emotionless voice as always. "This path is hardly ever travelled by. A man offered his house as a momentary stop." The carriage swayed slightly in the dim light of the sunset.

The driver, who kept himself quiet throughout the voyage, finally spoke up. "Miss, don't you think that's a bit sketchy? You don't even know the gentleman..." With the woman raising a finger, the old man stopped on his tracks. "I don't think that will happen." Her tone was strict and colder than usual, bordering an order.

"Okay... We are almost there." Said shyly the old man, hiding in his tophat.

    The adrenaline high is wearing down, and soon your leg will start bothering you a lot more, but I'd say before you get some rest, you can cast around 2-3 runes. Anything more than that and you'll suffer from the aftermaths of magical exhaustion due to rune over usage, which I have not written on the main thread but I can give you some of the effects you'll get;
    - Extreme tiredness and headache;
    - Instability and inability to control the levels of magic;
    - Small amount of magical intoxication ( will add info about that when I rewrite the world ), aggravated by continued use of magic.

    Well. Let's get our bearing.
The wolf probably won't do anything. Check my items and then stand up to head outside, keeping the spear on my back and holding the knife at the ready.

Fraise was silent for several moments, the dream still leaving a bitter and pertinent sensation inside of him. He truly thought the world wasn't as...impressionable as he thought it was. The brazier, woman, and whatever in Seear was that ghoul of a monster were figures that spiraled questions in Fraise's head. Nonetheless, Fraise gathered his wits and soothed his uneasy mind. Whatever that dream wasn't coincidental. Something was amiss, and on this rare occasion, he was actually motivated to get to the bottom of it.

He turned to Saraha after commenting on the driver's concern, tucking his makeshift miniature library neatly in his satchel,

"While I should instinctively challenge your nonchalant poise about this man, I suppose you wouldn't accept his offer if you didn't trust him. Still, I presume we should keep our guard up? I'm not so fond of unexpected surprises."

Slowly making his way over to the sword, Darx was careful to make the least possible effort in his wounded leg. The colourful clouds were spread out on the sky, painting the former blue with tones of orange and red. The beauty of the scene made the boy forget for a moment his pain, and feel himself calm further.

Upon reaching the sword stuck on the ground, the silver-haired teen noticed a few details that he hadn't perceived. Besides the small column of observable runes at the start of the blade, dozens of other small engravings adorned the hilt and fuller. Darx recognized one of the big runes on the blade, although the version he saw was rudimental in comparison to its contemporary counterpart.

Preparing himself to take the sword out, the Coldenic boy found himself surprised as the sword easily slid out of the stone, completely unscathed and as light as a feather. For a two-handed longsword, it was far too light. Taking a swing with it, Darx felt the weight of the sword increase with the motion, becoming so heavy the hit split the ground it hit. Taking it out again, the weight was gone again. Weird.

[Event Item Acquired] Sword of Deception

The wolf stood still and watched as Wren packed his things back in his bag, slowly heading towards the hole in the far corner of the cave. Right as it noticed where the boy was going, the lupine jumped in front of him, standing between the exit and the human.

The animal took a stance that could either mean it wanted to play or was preparing to attack the boy. It emitted a low noise from its throat.

"There will not be any surprises." The woman said once more, even if this time she avoided eye contact. Looking towards the small cabin, Saraha didn't notice the activation of Deton's Particularity.

Saraha Yltan, age 35. Originally from Nyriat, Innkeeper (?)

It would appear nothing has changed. Taking in a deep breath, they wait for the carriage to arrive.

As the carriage stopped in front of the wood building, Fraise noticed a young man, perhaps in his mid-twenties, standing by the door. He smiled at the trio and waved, as if expecting them. "Hey! Come right in, I have some tea for you guys! That friend of yours was supposed to be here as well but oh well, I guess he had better things to do."

Jumping off the carriage, Saraha began walking towards the house. "Come." She said simply. The driver followed right after, covering his neck with a scarf.

The woman watches as Darx makes his way back to the carriage, putting his weight on the sword instead of the injured leg. As he got into the caravan with some struggle, he heard the driver whistle and the horses started moving. "Nice sword you got there. Spoils I guess." Not saying anything else, she turned to the road and the journey resumed.

The headless warrior was nowhere in sight.

Neither did the lupine move out of the way nor did it lunge forward; Instead, it began making a weird noise from the back of its throat, as if regurgitating something. With its head towards the ground, hissing and finally throwing up something. On the ground, in a small puddle, was a necklace with a blue gemstone. The wolf sat down and looked at Wren and then back at the necklace, as if trying to say something.

Waving for the people to come inside, the man was to busy talking to the old driver that he didn't notice the small glow in Deton's eyes. The information presented to him was unusual, to say the least.

Humant Manne, Age 62. Originally from Believablecity, Professional.

"Hey, are you coming in?" The figure waved at Deton and pointed at his crossbow. "You can bring that thing inside, I don't mind!"

Glance at the item, but immediately move my gaze back to the wolf.
This isn't normal. None of this is right.
Tense up my muscles, ready to attack it if it moves towards me.
    ...
And well, if nothing happens for a while, I guess I'll try to use my power over water to flick the necklace towards me, using it's saliva (that's a weird sentence to type. .-.)
