Turning his arm around, Vitiate takes another look at the lock. Sealed with runes, the lock is nearly invisible, the joints fused. The monk sighs before yelping again, the pain barely bearable.

The bartender appears by Vitiate's side silently, squatting. He holds out a piece of cloth. "Need some help there?" He asks with a smile.

 

Head to the market. I need to buy supplies.

 

"Thanks." I carefully wrap the bleeding and pour the remaining alcohol left in my cup onto the wound to disinfect and ease the pain.

"Can I rent a room for the night?"

 

"Surely. We can arrange the payment a bit later if you so desire. Interested in taking proper care of that?" The bartender asks, helping Vitiate get up. Once up, he pulled a chair for the monk to sit and went back to polishing the countertop and glasses of liquor.

Fraise turned to Deton and made a hushing motion with his fingers. He then turned to the drunken man and fixed his circlet to have the jewels twinkle in the light, hoping the man would be captivated by the rose and white colors,
"Please, ignore the rash comment dear Deton just made. He was trying to say that perhaps you should escort us to this leader of yours. We'd love to meet them."
Fraise spoke in a slightly flirtatious tone, aiming for a means to persuade the man before them with his statement.

 

Pointing a drunken finger at Deton, the man struggled to keep balance. "Yeah, ya better watch yer tone. I may need to-" The guard is interrupted by a woman who comes out of the bar, who pushes him lightly with a hand. He topples over and falls. Turning to the pair, she motions with her head to get in the bar.
"I'm sorry, he gets drunk quite often. Come in, can I offer you a drink to make up for the inconvenient?" She asks, not caring about the dizzy man.

 

"I'm always up for a free drink, who is he if you don't mind me asking?"

 

Fraise sighed and followed Deton and the woman inside the bar,
"Just a drink wouldn't hurt I suppose. As Deton said, who was that man? He looks find but in another sense....not fine? Will he be alright?"

 

She waves dismissively at the armoured man, who is now throwing up on the street. "He's just security for the bar. He insists we pay him with beer instead of money, and since he can't handle alcohol, we do so." She walks up to the man and kicks his stomach. He throws up a little more.

The woman shakes her head. "It's pretty much normal now. Come." She goes inside, not waiting for an answer.

 

I follow hand in my pockets so my right is near my crossbow just in case

 

Fraise merely shrugged and followed the duo inside, wondering about the mysteries still in his mind. Maybe he might be able to find some answers here.

 

The woman points to a table and keeps walking towards a door. "Sit there, I'll get some drinks. What do you want?" She asks. Fraise intertwined his fingers as he sat down. "Black tea, please."
Pointing to the other man, the Herilian answered. "Mead." Walking a bit further, she put her hand on the doorknob. "I'll be back in a few."

As she entered the door, the two gentlemen found themselves alone in the tavern bar. The room was rather dark, with all the windows closed, the only light coming from candles that dimly lit the room. Looking at each other, the two tapped their fingers on the table. "So, what now?" Asked Deton.

 

Fraise looked around them and sighed softly, twirling a strand of his hair between his fingers,
"Well, we make the most out of this and have a pleasant drink. It's been a while since I had a nice cup of black tea, so I hope they meet my expectations. Perhaps that woman was this chief the man was talking about?"
He shrugged his shoulders and leaned back into his chair, taking a moment to look around the room to see if he can make out anything in the darkness.

 

"I could tell you if my head wouldn't hurt so bad, but sadly i can't"

Nodding at Deton's remark, Fraise looked around at the dimly lit room. A few books were on a table on the other side of the tavern, although it was hard to see their names. On the countertop, glasses of varied colours gave the wooden surface a more colourful light.
Before Fraise was able to get up, the woman from before appeared from the door, bringing a small steaming cup and a much larger mug. Putting them on the table, she sat down with the two. Taking the tea, the Aatsuran took a sip of it. It was indeed very good, the same going to Deton's mead.

"So. Why are you two here exactly? I don't think you were here for drinks, otherwise, even that idiot would have let you in." Said the woman.

Sorry, I forgot to answer.

Once at the market, Wren looked around the small corridors. A few runes cooled fruits and vegetables, while a bakery stood at the back wall of the building.
Asides from the fresh vegetables, there was nothing particularly good in the market that he could see.
