{rp} Tysra's Aftermath [6/6]

Kollin made his way to Jonathan's cottage, having to shove past several people as he ran. Whilst some people were concerned about the dark clouds looming above them, Kollin heard bits and pieces of conversations as he ran,

".......it might rain soon?.."

"...Are you going out to the markets later..."

".....I've never seen a summer rain like this.."

Eventually, Kollin spotted Jonathan's cottage down a street he turned a corner on. As he ran, he practically slammed his fist against the door. To his surprise, Beci was the one that opened the door,

"Kollin? W-What are you doing here...?"

The duo at the desk, a couple of new students that she barely recognized from the sketch tournament, dug in their bags beside them. One of them pulled out a chisel and passed it over to Tae. Some of the students cheered at Tae's courage and Nyxio shouted out,

"'Ey, Miss Dahran. Punch one of 'em for me, will ya?"

 

Tae turned to the table, giving Nyxio a thumbs up with the hand she held the chisel. Reaching towards the desk, Tae began carving a rune to make the desk weightless, using the iron gauntlets to hammer the chisel into the wood. Mid carving, she turned to look at the fireball in the stairwell.


Ooc question, is there a rune to bind two items together? As if they had been fused like iron, that is.

 

(yes, such a rune exists.)
As Tae carved a couple of students whispered to themselves, curious as to what she was doing. Even Runemaster Grelo quirked an eyebrow, wondering where his student was going with this. Tae glanced up at the stairwell fireball and to her pleasant surprise, it was just floating there. Simply bobbing up and down.

 

Try to find a seat near the other half-robot, but not in immediate proximity to his. Then I wait until class starts.

 

The woman continued carving the rune, sometimes shooting nervous glances at the fireball. Having finished the rune, Tae put herself to disassembling the desk's legs, breaking them if they took to long to disassemble. Then, putting the back of one of her gauntlets on top of the table, she started carving a rune for binding.

 

Spotting a seat of couple of isles beside him, Frozlar made his way to the desk. As he settled himself down and took out his supplies, a couple of students called out to him,

"Hey, look, another one!"

"Do you talk too?"

" I haven't really seen automatons before. So, here's hoping for a good first impression."

As Tae worked, students got up from their back row seats to look at what she was doing. Taking a quick look underneath the desk, Tae spotted a form of connector between each desk leg and the wooden table. Disconnecting the legs free, Tae placed the wooden legs near her and began carving the binding rune on the gauntlet. Taking another glance at the fireball, her stomach dropped slightly as she saw the flame slowly approach her.

 

Working faster and concentrating on the carving of the rune, Tae began chanting to herself, trying to bring herself to complete it quicker.
"Come on, you can do it."

 

Lets say a person was standing infront of me. Walk around that space as if someone was there.
"Not interested."
Start to go somewhere between a jog but not a run. I'll just go home, I don't want to deal with this...

 

The pressure of finishing the rune along with the approaching fireball caused Tae to write the run as fast as she could. Several students couldn't help but stare while others covered their eyes. A moment later, a flash of white shined from the table as the rune glowed to life. [-2 MP]

A gust of chilly air blew past Ky, almost knocking him down onto the ground. Stumbling to catch his step, he continued his walk as the voice slowly grew weaker,

"A horror slowly approaches your kingdom...prepare....yourself."

Making his way back to his grandfather's forge, Ky opened the door to see a couple of people beside his grandfather. His grandfather glanced back and motioned for the group to enter the office on the first floor before approaching Ky,

"I suppose you thought returning home was better than getting caught outside with this sky above us?"

 

Connecting her gauntlet to the desk, Tae put on the makeshift shield. Raising it to her side and feeling it's weight, Tae prepared to fight the other fireball, throwing the chisel back at the person who borrowed her it. She closed her free hand and prepared her stance for the 'enemy'.
"Alright pal, let's dance."

 

"Quite."
Take the goggles out of my bag.
"I got this at least before I was warned- threatened?
That a horror would come to the kingdom soon, of all things."

 

"Huh? Did i go to the wrong house?"

 

The fireball began swirling towards Tae, circling her as the flame slowly grew closer. It almost looked like as if it were looking for a place to attack, but due to Tae's makeshift shield, it couldn't seek an opportunity. Several puffs of sparks flew out of it, almost as if it were frustrated. A moment later, the fireball backtracked a couple of feet and attempted to smash into Tae's backside!

Ky's grandfather's eyes widened slightly before taking the goggles from Ky. He nodded and began walking back to the common group of guests,

"I see. Well then, you know the drill. Take your leave into your quarters, there's no point in working outside if you'll possibly catch a cold."

With that, Ky's grandfather entered the room where his guests were, closing the door and locking it behind him.

"N-No, this is Jonathan's residence. Is something the matter? You knocked on the door rather...aggressively."

Beci opened the door a bit wider, allowing Kollin to step inside,

"Please, come in. Jonathan's around here somewhere, although, he looked rather flustered himself. I don't want you caught out in this sudden storm."

 

''So what are you doing here?''

 

Turning around and trying to block the attack with her makeshift shield, Tae prepared to react to the fireball by punching it when she blocked the attack.

 

"Oh! I ran into Jonathan about an hour or so ago. He said I should follow him to his home, something about a storm? Either way, I simply was looking around the place, sipping some tea and reading a book when I heard you knocking."

Some footsteps could be heard above them, boots thumping against the ground.

Tae spun around, holding her shield up to block the incoming fireball,

The fireball thumped against the shield quite loudly, flying back a couple of feet. Seeing her opportunity, Tae swung her fist at the fireball,
Gauntlet Punch: 1-39 = Fail / 40-89 = Success / 90-100 = Critical Success ||||||||| Result = 56

As Tae slammed her gauntlet into the fireball, the flame flew up in the air and exploded in a flurry of flames and sparks, ash slowly raining down onto the ground. The class roared with applause and cheers, Grelo standing up from the far right corner of the room,

"Settle down, settle down! Well done, Miss Dahran. Although you were slightly injured, you kept your composure and even surprised the class with your quick thinking. The recovery room should help treat any possible burn marks you may have. Miss Trenini, Miss Belrington, please escort Miss Dahran there. With that, class is dismissed. Return here in several hours for your rune drawing class with Runemaster Junva."

The students filed out of the classroom, a couple throwing Tae some thumbs up and grins. Lysanna and Kindra barreled down the stairwell towards Tae.

"How do you know Jonathan if you don't mind me asking?"

 

"Jonathan and I ran into each other at the marketplace a while or so ago. Supposedly, he wanted information on Lady Paris. I tried my best to search for what he was looking for, but I couldn't find anything. The whole kingdom knows how much of a shadow she is. I was a bit surprised when-"

The sound of boots thumping down the stairwell caught Beci's and Kollin's attention as the two turned towards the stairs. Jonathan was seen geared up in raiding attire, his attire a black set of coat and tunic, trousers, and boots. A pair of daggers were clipped to his belt and he looked visibly stunned for a moment as he noticed Kollin,

"Kollin? What're you doing here?"

 

"Do you want the long version or short version?"

 

Unnataching her gauntlets, Tae put down her makeshift shield and the other unaltered gauntlet. Then looking at the group coming down the stairs, Tae gave them all a smile and a V with her fingers.
"Woop, I won." She said, with a tired but happy voice.
