[rp] Small Beginnings - [9/9] Players - Applications Closed

I feel like Nemract is the capital, everyone was in this city at the start of their journey XD

You groan as you wake up, and crawl out of your bed. Your head pounds like crazy. You walk slowly downstairs and drink a glass of water. You walk out of the inn's doors. Troms is already awake, its citizens walking around the various market stalls. You guess it's market day...
Shouts bombard you from everywhere - merchants calling for you to buy their wares. You ignore them, and walk around the market.
You see a few things that could be useful.
A tinderbox, the merchant boasting that it could never not spark a flame.
The potion merchant - you could do with a few more healing potions.
The cloth merchant. Your cloak got torn away in your... outburst.

Your eyes flutter open as the morning sun streams in through your window. (I don't really remember if your room had a window... it does now.)
You sit up and climb out of bed. A knock comes at your door. You open it and see a soldier.
"His Majesty King Charles Roion III requests your presence."
"Of course."
You look at yourself in a mirror that stands across from your bed. Your hair is all disheveled and your clothes are wrinkled. It looks like you slept in them - because you have.
"Please inform... His Majesty.. that I am making myself presentable. I will see him in 5 minutes."
"But-" The soldier starts.
You slam the door in his face.
You look in the dresser. A shirt and pants sit in there. You put them on, smoothing them out. The shirt is a deep mahogany, and the pants are black. You run your fingers through your hair and put your boots on.
5 minutes later, the soldier pokes his head in the room again.
"It's time," he says.
You follow him to the throne room.

"His Majesty, King Charles Roion III," the soldier proclaims.
"Yeah, yeah. I know," you mutter under your breath.
Nonetheless, you kneel.
"Your majesty."
"Rise," says the King.
You rise.
The King smiles. "Have you heard the news?" He asked. "Yesterday, during the night, Nemract was attacked by a force of corrupted. They came close to destroying the city. Fortunately, two young men defended the city from complete destruction. I sent for them. They should arrive tomorrow. I was hoping that you could welcome them...?"
The unanswered question hung in the air.
"I..."
You snort. It's not your place to welcome heroes.
"Of course," you say. You can't refuse a king - especially when soldiers of his kingdom are so close by.
"Good to hear," the King remarks. "For now, you can explore Ragni. It's city of much enjoyment. I'm sure you can find something interesting."
The King smiles.
The soldier leads you out of the throne room and onto the front steps of the palace. He nods, and walks back into the palace.

You walk along the tunnel. The air seems.. mustier, somehow. Chisel marks cover the walls. It seems the tunnel was built by humans. It's obvious that no one has been in here for a long time.
After a lot of walking, you come across a door. On the door are strange carvings. Running your fingers over them, you realize it's an older version of the Wynnic Runes that some of your tribe's spiritual leaders use (it's the same kind of runes as the boulder-thing in the Realm of Light... really, it's no different than the ones that are in place now). It seems you must decipher the runes to open the door.

• Who actually has red eyes? Humans aren't born naturally with them, and the only ones to naturally have them are corrupted. You can't be corrupted. I need to put that rule on the first page..

Why I should accept you into the RP: I have experience, and, well, one spot left so I figure I'll take this chance to apply now.

Name: Frederick Wahnsinn

Age: 47

Appearance: Almost always wearing a cloak. Unnaturally silver hair. Messy hair. Pale skin color, brown eyes. Taller than average.

Personality: Shrewd, anti-social, alarmingly insane

Backstory: Frederick had a normal life. Always just getting by on his farm in Ragni. Then, the corruption struck. He was then drafted into the army on threat of seizing all his property. However, disaster (quite inevitably) struck, when he and his scouting party, who were scouting out the corrupted armies near the portal, were spotted by the corrupted. His comrades, barely holding on to their sanity from spending prolonged time near the portal, turned on each other as the corrupted attacked. In the ensuing chaos, Frederick was knocked unconscious and buried alive from an explosion. After waking up, he found himself struggling to fight against the effects of the corruption as it slowly corrupted him.

Class (in-game class or original [not required]): He doesn't really have a class.

Primary Weapon: Blade of the Red Rock - A sword he was able to steal off of a corrupted during the battle which nearly cost him his life. Unbeknownst to him, this blade is accelerating the corruption in him. (Looks like a saber)

Secondary Weapon: Standard Issue Spear - Issued to him upon conscription. It is now blunted and is close to breaking.

Spells (you may have up to three):

Cleanse Corruption - A very taxing spell that helps him slow down the effects of the corruption on him. Its benefits are...to say the least, outweighed by the cons.

Abilities (you may have three if you have no spells; you may have one if you have three spells):

Insanity's Gift - Allows Frederick to get visions of the future, at the cost of further deteriorating his sanity. Naturally, it is very rare that anyone would believe him if he shares these visions.

Speed of the Corruption - (He cannot use this at the beginning of the RP, but perhaps he'll unlock it later on) Allows Frederick, using the power of the Corruption, to gain insane speed abilities for a few moments. This is also another very taxing ability.

Armor (not required): Standard Issue Armor - Issued to him upon conscription. It is very worn down and not very effective.

Starting Place (can be things other than towns, such as the Nivla): Nemract

Other: Potato. Since he is insane, he is prone to random fits of rage. Those around him are more likely to be frustrated with him due to the prescence of his sword, however, it is nothing too major. Again, since he's insane, basically anything can happen, like a hallucinated attacker.

Note: He is NOT Corrupted, just on the verge of becoming corrupted

Denied. Reasons:

• What town got burned down?
• Not enough backstory. If.. say Town A got burned down, wouldn't he have the memory scarred in his mind? I mean... everyone probably had something really traumatic happen to them so you don't technically need a... let's just say 'harmful memory' from the fire. Also, when did the town burn down? I know I've accepted characters with not a lot of backstory.. but you just need more.
• Black eyes are also kinda weird... how about brown?
• Where does one get... 2 enchanted daggers? A normal person shouldn't have access to the kind of magic that is used to imbue weapons with elemental magics. Only a large group of powerful mages (6 mages) gathered around a powder relic can create such a weapon. Apparently the player is that powerful now XD Anyways if you want your enchanted daggers, you'll have to find a way to meet such mages.
• And you're sure you don't want Level 2 or Level 3 of Vanish? Honestly Level 3 seems a bit op to me in this rp (speed, jump boost), but I don't see a problem with Vanish Level 2.
• Maltic. Maltic is the town that the Villagers established when they first came to Wynn. An event that hasn't happened yet in this rp.

Name: Varushi

Appearance: Light skin - Green eyes - Short, brown hair - Wears black leggings with brown waist and ankles - Wears simple, tattered brown top with no sleeves and slightly flared bottom - Wears brown hood - Wears simple, dark-brown shoes - 5'8" and 135 lb

Personality: Mostly calm and casual, but can get work done when needed; Mischievous and, uncommonly, criminal; Works well with others, but heavily prefers to work on his own

Backstory:

This is the same backstory I use in every RP I join. Now that I read it again, it's pretty poorly written. Let me know if anything needs changed for the lore.

Varushi used to be a member of an elite army in a far-off land, until he started to go insane and killing off his allies. The general found out about this, and didn't hesitate to put Varushi in the hospital for treatment. His (POTATO) "treatment" was actually just a memory wipe of his time in the army. Once the doctors deemed him safe for the public, they sent Varushi on his way. He put his life back together and wound up in Ragni, where he lives with his three best-and-only friends, Calazar, Akatsu and Plegiaz.

Primary Weapon: Dual daggers that can be summoned at will

Secondary Weapon: If the dual daggers count as one weapon, then a pouch full of needles with a vial of poison.

Spells: Vanish - Varushi alters the colors of his clothing to blend in with his environment, making them almost invisible. Varushi's skin is unaffected.
Illusion - Varushi clouds a target's mind with false information of directions, appearances, and what the target should be doing, hopefully disorienting and confusing the target.
Light Hold - Varushi captures and stores light from any source he can inside any sealable container, including, but not limited to, glass bottles, ceramic pots, or his own hands.

Ability: Lightweight - After a short rest, Varushi can run faster and jump higher for a short time.

Starting Location: Ragni

You yawn, and snuggle down into your sleeping bag. Suddenly, you hear a crunch from the outside of the campfire. It sounds like a human. You jump up, and draw your knives - they seem to you to be more helpful in the situation right now.
A man steps into the firelight. He's got dark hair and is wearing dark steel armor. He smiles.
"Who are you?" You ask.
"Me?" The man asks. "Why, I'm just an adventurer, who's lived in Nemract for most of my life. Sadly I wasn't able to defend it under the attack, but I heard others, you, were there to defend my home. So I just wanted to thank you for saving my home, my friends and my family."
Kazuki nods. "What's your name?"
"Samuel Exton."
You hear a thump behind you. Samuel snickers. You turn to find the messenger sprawled on the ground, drooling.
"Well," Kazuki says, "looks like we won't be getting any information off him anymore." He laughs.
