I try to follow and keep up.

 

You reach the staircase, which leads both up and down (the footsteps were going up).

You run up towards the sides, and the Doguns give chase. Two fall behind but the others seem to be keeping up. You come to a dead end at the edge of the residential area - you misremembered the way back. The two Doguns close in.

 

Nobody's using mana at the moment but it seems they were recently, the cause of the footprints is at about half mana, and you arrive to see Elimut arguing with the black-robed villager (@BlueSlimerino).

You catch that someone escaped through a window. The other villager seems to be trying to help, but it appears that Elimut is not in the mood.

 

"Thank god Ozoth, your here!" As they are distracted run more and drop some iron ingots

 

"And I assume you have no idea where that scroll led to"

It doesn't work. The lead Dogun laughs as he starts to corner you at the dead end. "You really thought we'd fall for that? You thought we'd fail to notice an enormous dragon coming?"

"Shut the fuck up."
He goes into the room with the broken window and starts examining the pieces. The two elves from Douhoins' box arrive from the stairs.
