You saw him leave the Bantisu box with the black-robed villager. You don't know where they went.

Oh. Sorry. Your mana drains further as you hit the door with the quake, causing it to fall off its hinges. You're in a small bedroom, four uncomfortable looking beds shoved against the walls and the window has been smashed. It overlooks a sheer drop into the river, but the villager is nowhere to be seen.

He hands you a mug of ale. "So, why is a Gert investigating this? I thought you were supposed to be... uh... I don't mean to be rude, but.... forget it."

The bashing stops. "What the fuck's a villager doing here?", another Dogun voice shouts.

 

Do I have a general direction at least?

 

I keep my eye on the river if he surfaces

 

I'm an adventurer, I thought to investigate ruins. I got into a little trouble.

 

I start drinking slowly.

There's a teleport spell sound and Elimut appears on the other side of the river, running away from the palace.

Bantira also seems keen to steer the conversation away. "How did you become the mayor of such a new town? I never know how these processes work." - of course already knowing the answer.
"An excellent question. When the first groups were sent out to survey the aftermath of the eruptions, I was the leader of the group that found this place. We founded Manifis there and then - set up tents on the river and used it as a staging post. We got more and more visitors and quickly people wanted to stay permanently. The official endorsement from Torl came soon - we're just inside the Nation here, so she can support us without claiming Dwarven lands. And then there was the dragon I fought off, the attacks last night - guards here had them before they got close. So yeah, I'm a big deal round here."

"Well, good luck. Can't say I know anything. Uh, Remfir over there is a military type, might have more information for you."
He points to a young dwarf in a leather tunic and a battleaxe on her back.

You reach the ash-covered floor outside to see a party of seven well-armed Doguns.
"Alright," the leader says. "Hand everything you took over. This is Dogun territory."

Elimut comes to a halt outside and shouts "Shit! I had him!"
There doesn't seem to be anyone in the room.

Four are Obsidians, (acts as natural armour), and two are holding axes, two shortbows, one a halberd and the remaining two carry longswords.

You go back into the corridor, but can't seem to find the assassin. Elimut seems to be coming back inside.

 

I look around the room with the broken window in case I missed something

 

While I causally climb back up to sit on the window I say:
"Huh, makes sense, however I am running Ozoth's treasure errands. To take my treasure would mean to enrage her. To have not only dwarfs wanting to kill you, having Ozoth attacking against you would even be more troublesome."
