The footsteps get farther away. "You're right. After him!" He teleports up the stairs and to another corridor, much more cramped, with at least twelve doors leading out. The footsteps abruptly stop, but the villager is nowhere to be found.

 

I check every corner where he could be hiding

 

You check two rooms but the rest seem to be locked. "Dammit- these are the servants' quarters, I don't have my key!", Elimut shouts. There's a crash of a window and the sound of a teleport spell, and Elimut rushes back down the stairs.

 

Escape through the window quickly, the same way you got in

 

Where did the sound of a window braking come from?

 

It's clearly within view of the place where the Dogun is - they're sure to see you if you leave that way. Still wish to proceed?

Not that you've seen yet, and it probably wouldn't be a good idea - your pickaxe/axe isn't a terribly effective tool and they'd hear you. There's the lava wing, though.

You didn't list that as an ability and it's a pretty difficult spell, but by all means try - you have a basic understanding of the theory. Although teleport is a much simpler spell and using that didn't go too well...
