Interestingly, they all seem to be written in odd, angular runes that you understand even less than ordinary villager writing. Guessing by the number of letters, you find three scrolls that look about right. The mage seems to be asking random people on the street for help, with little success.

The mattress is lumpy and parts of it seem to be so soft as to offer no support at all, but you both eventually manage to fall asleep.

You stand in the courtyard of Suinos, horribly clashing flowers surrounding you on all sides, even the trees above the walls tinged a full spectrum of ugly. All of the doors in and out are locked and the place seems deserted. You run around frantically, when at the gate, you hear a voice from the other side, feebly singing through the silence.

The gate swings open. Candles light. The sun comes up. Rin is standing on the other side, clutching a lute and staring in the opposite direction, her arms and legs tied up. The banner of Greater Aldorei is flown in the windows, and elves in yellow robes drag her away as you stand paralysed in the courtyard.

The Cinfras Road winds farther on. The West Gate of Cinfras is repeated over and over into the distance, the Coalition banner replaced with a second Royal one on each. Doushoins' battered carriage trundles gently along just ahead, one wheel missing and tattered lime green robes flying out of a window. It leaves a trail of blood trailing out of its door. From inside, you hear the mournful voice of Hels, singing the same song as he sang last night.

The carriage suddenly loses a second wheel and rolls over, wood splintering everywhere. It continues to roll into the distance, wood splintering everywhere until the final pieces come to rest. At your feet is the naked and bloody body of Doushoins, an eye split open by a gash in the face and another slicing through her chest and through her heart. A single piece of forest green cloth is draped over her shoulder. Hels is nowhere to be found.


yes, that song is going to be a regular thing. The chorus talks about waking up in the morning, so I couldn't put it in yet as you're waking up in the evening. I have plans.

As you leave the mage, you're approached by an elf in yellow robes. From the sunflower patterns sewn onto them, it's obvious that she represents the Sol Embassy. Noticing your robes, she says in the soft and patronising voice so common amongst Valley Elves,
"Excuse me, Villager. Do you know Dermit?"

 

"Sadly yes"

 

You're gonna hear this a lot from me, but the song reminds me a lot of Kingkiller Chronicles. Mainly the Song of Seven Sorrows. I feel like the rhythm applies. You can find it on Youtube.
