Rp - Gavel's Darkest Hour- Act Two Begins [7/7]

I follow her skeptically
"well lets just make it quick."

 

”Map to lava place?”

 

You try to reach down to the shirt, but you're still trapped in the wind prison and it's completely covered by the cloak. Your fingertips brush the cloak from midair while Esmé wraps her arms round your neck and kisses you on the lips.

She breaks into a sprint as you near the police station. Stopping outside, she gestures for you to go in first.

"I'm afraid the obstacles you face won't be found on any map. I can have one of our rescue mages escort you. How does that sound?"

 

I go in and ask to see the prisoners

 

The police officer you met on the way over is still at the desk.
"You again?", he says, shaking his head. "Look, I tell you, we can't help you. Security and such."
You see the mind-reader enter behind you, close her eyes and point her hand at a wall. With the other hand, she gestures to you to keep talking.

 

I take a second to respect the dogun, and find a place to stay for the night.

 

"um well you see..."
I begin to rant in an attempt to keep him busy

 

I try to get her off of me

 

The doguns from the bar try to block you from leaving:
"What the fuck happened?"
"What the hell's a villager doing out here?"
"Is she... is she dead?"
"Another one?"
"What do you bet he's working with the dwarves?"
"What are you doing? Stop them!"

"Uh, what if she's dead? Uh, oh no, it's my fault. President Torl's a, a tool? Juntabi, why?", you shout at him. He glares at you, clearly not convinced. He leans round you towards the girl, who gives you the thumbs up. "What the fuck is going on", he snarls at you.

For a few seconds, it seems futile - the spell is keeping you both exactly where you are. As you start to panic, you both drop the rest of the way. The much lighter hobbit is thrown against the inn wall, and you end up face down in the pile of clothes.

 

I wind prison her and grab the keys

 

You roll onto your side, point a sword at the hobbit and, with great effort and the rest of your mana, cast another wind prison around her before she can reach you again. She hovers directly above you, making poses in the semi-weightless environment of the prison. Searching through the pockets of the shirt (which you notice were sewn on the inside, clearly just for tonight), you find keys labelled 2, 3, 6, and 7. You're anxious to get out of the before the spell expires and Esmé falls on top of you, so you have to leave before retrieving any more keys. As you turn back onto the street, you hear a high-pitched "ouch" from the alley.

 

I whisper to the girl "Can we go yet?"

 

I keep running but looks back

 

She makes a complicated hand gesture back that you can't decipher. "Shit, what's she doing?", the officer shouts, getting up from the desk.

You see Esmé calmly walk out of the alleyway with the shirt and turn back into the inn. You reach the edge of town very quickly - the road continues to Cinfras, but it's known to be dangerous at night and you're out of mana. You could try to stay hide in Gylia, but that was the only inn in town, and it's not a terribly big place - she could probably find you if she wanted to.

 

I'll try to sneak back into the inn in room 3

 

As you approach the front of the inn, you see a very confused and tired innkeeper talking to Esmé at the bar. The shirt is on the table and you can almost make out their conversation:
"Look, __ sorry ___ the dragon _ing."
"Y_ better b_. _ nearly __sted __ of that ___"
"Wh__ __ fuck ___ hap____ up there?"
"He _n __ with the __"
Getting any closer would risk the innkeeper seeing you.

 

"Look, panic won't get us anywhere but out here is dangerous. I can discus things where it's safe in the bar."

 

I wait for Esmé to go to her room

 

I frown at her
"um sorry about her she does that sometimes," i tell the guard, "lets get out of here", i whisper to the girl

 

There's a pause, followed by a half-hearted cheer from some of the Doguns. A Dogun who appears to be the barkeeper invites you inside. "Seems like you're going to be good for business", she says, showing you to a bar stool in the centre of the room. Around half of the Doguns follow you. Some of them chase after the dwarves and two of them are dragging the body away. The seats are quickly full again, and almost everyone is looking up at you with what you can only guess is expectation.

You wait outside and they continue their conversation. You can hear better now.
"Did he really? Thanks for telling me, uh, Esmé, was it? Shit, I get that he was in a rush to get away, but really? Okay. We'll split up and look for him, he can't have gotten far. How am I supposed to run an inn when shit like this keeps happening?"
You hear the door start to open.

The gesture gets more frantic, ending in the number two and a thumbs up. The officer goes over to her and waves his hand in her face. She ignores him.
