I smile and tilt my head to the side. "That makes the trip even better then!"

 

"Then can I get my own room if they're all booked by you?"

I take my hammer and RUN FOR IT to kandon-beta

 

She smiles at you, wider than before. "Well, I don't know. As far as I know, you'd need two keys. One for the room, and one to get out of here." She picks up her shirt and throws it out of the window too. You hear a suspicious metallic jingle as it falls. Downstairs, the innkeeper sounds like he's having a panic attack.

You have several trinkets you picked up in Bantisu. Nothing all that valuable. Of course, you also have the map.

As you start running, you see a teenage villager running out of the mansion in dressing gown. "I am the Duke!", he shouts after you. "I command you to take me this instant". Farther away from the cliff, you see several buildings fall out of sight.

 

I run to the window and say to her "why would you do that?"

 

"I'm looking for the headmaster of the academy. We were at the bar earlier and she left but she hasn't returned to the building."

I grab him and try and carry him to kandon-beta

"Well, I got these rare Bantisu trinkets. Legendary enchantments of granting peace in one's self. I will give you one and 10 emeralds for one ring."

 

"As I said, I've been planning this for months. Was I going to let some pesky keys get in the way?" As she takes off her skirt, the innkeeper storms up the stairs and bangs on the door. "DRAGON!" he shouts.

He complains along the way, but ultimately you make it out. As you step onto the platform, you see the spire of the mansion crumble away, but the fracture stops, the rumble dissipating into the void. "Oh why, cruel forces!", Sord cries into the sky."Why do you forsake us?"

He smiles. "You think I'd fall for that? These are fascinating, but they don't have any enchantments, that's for sure. I can do fifteen emeralds and three of those. I'm trained in magical identification, you know."

"I'm sorry, but we it takes at least two days before we can investigate a missing person case. Especially with all this, and the dragon. We did apprehend about five more dwarves in the general area since you gave us that idiot - they claim they killed someone. I'm sorry, but there's nothing more we can do to help."

 

I breathe a mental sigh of relief.
I seem to have gotten my protection out of the way. Now just to make sure I'm useful enough to not be ditched...
"Just wondering, what do you normally do?"

"Ah you got me, if I can't fool you, I probably can't fool Ozoth. Alright, I will pay up."

 

"Help out trees, people, dying animals. Plant some things once in a while... I like to cultivate flowers when I have free time." I tap on the handle of my sword distractedly as I name the things.

 

About five metres, wood and daub. Hels could probably climb it, but it wouldn't be easy.

You hand him the emeralds and the artefacts, and he takes a ring off the rack. As you slip it onto your finger, the temperature instantly becomes comfortable.
"Was there anything else?"

 

"One question, you have a good idea to hunt for treasure a dragon like Ozoth would accept?"

 

"You got any spare keys? I'm kinda stuck here"

 

"Wait, Ozoth? That one that just escaped? Why do you want anything to do with her?"

Esmé throws herself at the door, holding it closed. The innkeeper doesn't seem to notice you, he's too busy shouting. "DRAGON! DRAGON! Oh my god, what if it... DRAGON!"

 

I run to the window trying to spot the dragon
