    You continue charging and Ozoth exhales, fire engulfing the road to the staircase. A wave of painfully hot air hits you from the side and you briefly see beside you the flesh and organs burn off a materialising villager a few metres away, leaving a charred skeleton, a few bottles and a sword behind.

    ( @WynnChairman and @H0Y0Y0Y0Y0B0Y - you can sort of see this happening, but Bluescreen's gert is invisible and Ozoth blocks most of the view so you can't be very sure what's going on. Ozoth is looking away from you now - it could be a window of opportunity.)
    You haul her back up and slowly walk through the door and onto the staircase. You pause. You could lock the door now - the guards are still standing motionless, though they can clearly see you. However, that might give them time to hit the alarm before Esmé can disable it if they realise what's happening.

    As she is distracted, I cast the largest meteor i can aimed at her head while trying to draw some sort of power from the eye to make it stronger

    Oh, but perhaps locking the door would have been playing it safe, or maybe I'm engineering the situation as we go so whatever you choose is the wrong answer (not that I'd ever do something like that)...

    You trudge down the stairs. They're oddly steep and you can't keep a firm 0ne-handed grip on the maid and also look down, so each step feels like it could be the last. You feel yourself trembling. As you draw close to the bottom, the guards start moving. One of them reaches into his tunic, takes out a pair of handcuffs and comes towards you. "As Elimut forsaw," the other smirks. "You're coming to the dungeons, and the Palace is being searched for your little hobbit girlfriend as I speak. I recommend you put that girl down and turn yourself in."
    You consider your options. Your plan relies on the guards opening the door before they realise something's wrong, so that Esmé can slip inside without them knowing. You could try talking to them - guards are not known to be very intelligent, so you could possibly trick them into opening the door. You could also turn yourself in as they suggest, which would avoid suspicion entirely and allow Esmé to get in. The downside is you'd be handcuffed, you couldn't lock the door and your swords could well be confiscated before you can do anything. You could also abandon the plan and just attack them, though they could possibly call for help, attract attention or get the better of you (ideally a fighter like you would get some distance), and you'd still have to break into the dungeon, if Esmé can't think of a workaround.
    Dragons' scales are known to be extraordinarily strong, especially around the face - they'd barely notice a standard meteor, and the most you can really hope for if the Eye doesn't amplify it by a hundred times is giving her a mild concussion (which could still be useful, but it would do nothing long-term but piss her off). The head is also outside the cave, aiming would be difficult, and you don't have any idea how one would 'draw power' from anything - you'll have to improvise with that. In this universe, actually fighting a full-grown dragon is almost impossible unless you have a sizeable army.
    You charge closer, and see the Dogun mage inside raise his wand.

    What gate? You're in a cave, which houses the staircase from the Surface to Lower Molten Hights - from which it's just an easy walk to either Bantisu or Ahms. Ozoth is standing at the mouth, looking away. You can very easily just start going down the staircase, though it is a fairly long way down.
    That was a best-case scenario, by the way. The most likely outcome to hitting her in the head is that it does no damage and attracts her attention, actively hindering your escape. Still want to proceed?
    The guard looks at her, confused. "Given that she's asleep, it's probably safer to lock you up first and come back for her - a trivial offence compared to yours in any case. We have our orders - you broke into Elimut's private chambers and we are to arrest you if you turn up. And you've come, just like he said you would. I'm not going to be ignoring my orders."

    "I could go and fetch him if you want, shouldn't take very long. He's in the Main Hall hosting the Summit - strictly invitees only. While I'm away, can you take him to his cell? The order stands until we hear otherwise, Elimut will speak to you in your cell. Bind him, confiscate any weapons and valuables, you know the procedure."
    As he nervously starts walking up the stairs, the other guard nods and gestures for you to hold out your hands.
    You start running down the staircase, the crowd of Doguns about two coils of the spiral below you.

    The action above will continue as you run down, it's a fairly long way. You are not safe yet.
