"what do you mean by after us though? and dont you think it'd be better if we confronted him? itd be trouble if he showed up at the rally"

 

She sighs. "He's going to take us back to Elimut's rooms. When we get there, I'll sneak off, find something to wear and look for this Halster Kirt in the city. It's up to you whether you come too. I could use the help."

"He wants to bring us back to Rodoroc, so he can bring teleportation scrolls to the Villagers of Kandon-Beta. His cause is noble. I think it would be best to simply propose a better deal. The dwarves have no scrolls to give - well, we don't either, but that's besides the point. Perhaps I could use my speech to persuade Torl to send aid? She certainly has an interest in improving relations with the villagers..."

 

"How do we even know if dermit's telling the truth"

 

" yea that sounds like a good idea. you can focus on that during your speach too."

 

"I know Elimut better than you could ever hope to - this is absolutely something he would do, and he was in the perfect position to do it. And Dermit never was good at making excuses. I believe him, and I'm doing what he says. GUARD! READY!"
Dermit stares at you from the wall. "Please... Kalitsk. I'm not lying."
The door swings open and the guard starts to leave. "Come on, I want out of here."
Esmé dutifully follows.

There's a knock on the door. "Torl's arrived early. Probably best to get in before it's too crowded," the innkeeper shouts. Bantira gets up and goes over to the door.

 

i follow deep in thoughts

 

”Sure. You hiding. I heard celebrations. At least tell me who scroll accomplice is so I can ask more.”
I explian that I was sent by Sord on a top-secret scroll recovery mission, and was told by the mage to go to the molten heights, as scrolls were there. I also lie that the mage had died fighting a dragon but given me a scroll to Rodoroc, but the dwarves attacked me and I had to escape, killing one on my way here. And that I just wanted to get the scrolls and leave.

 

You walk all the way back to the tower, considerably faster on the way. Esmé is struggling to keep up -her shorter legs are not helping. You soon reach Elimut's rooms again, and the guard locks you inside.
Esmé listens at the door for a few seconds and then rushes to the window. She climbs halfway through and looks back inside. "Are you coming, Glem?"

He stops you before you can finish your explanation. "Alright, I get it. I don't know their names, but they're staying in the inn." He points to a large stone building outside the window. "A young man and a young woman, the man carries a wand. Haven't seen them leave."
You notice that the streets are starting to become crowded, and a stage has been set up- the rally will start soon.

 

''Can i take a book first?''

 

"Stealing from Elimut isn't the greatest idea you've ever had. Which book? We can find copies elsewhere, if it's so important." She drops down onto the roof.

 

I stand still for about 2 seconds before deciding to go after esme

 

"Looks like we should be going then." Turn around slowly and sigh.

 

*follows*

 

"ah"
that's not very nice
"alright, i guess we won't have time to find the gert...do you think you can incorporate helping out the villagers earlier on? before he tries anything?"

 

”Bye.”
I sneak out, and try and get to the inn by sticking to the dark alleys and roads away from the rally.

 

She looks back. "You'll have to find him. I'll try to point you in the right direction. Stay in the crowds, speak with them if you must - if he tries anything they will retaliate." She opens the door and you are lead down the stairs and out of the door. As you enter the crowds and people make way for you to go to the stage, Bantira looks behind you uneasily.

There aren't many dark alleys given the nature of the town, but you walk amongst the tents in a roundabout route to the inn, coming up from behind. As you arrive, you see two Doguns being let through by the crowd, one with a wand. This must be them.

As you leave, you hear a cry of "Holy shit, come back, now!"
Glancing back, you see Elimut himself strutting up to the gate, key in hand.

She leads you on a similar route to before, stopping very near the room you stayed in last night. "Hold on-", she whispers, disappearing into a window. There's silence, and Esmé comes out in very ornate orange and red robes, very similar in style to what Doushoins wore at the show. She looks like a walking flame - it doesn't look practical.
"How do I look?", she says, doing a twirl on the rooftop that would have landed you dead in the river below had you attempted it.

 

*looks over*
*stays silent*

 

”Nice wand. Who you?”

 

Turn back and stop, but don't go back.
