Question. How many abilities are we allowed to have?

 

I'd limit it to a set of closely related magicks (Healing/Support/Battle Meditations, or Summoning/Necromancy, etc.) or weapons (Swords/Daggers/Knives, or Bows/Crossbows, etc.) if I were you. I'd prefer you keep it more niche as players will very quickly gain newfound powers

Spoiler: Avatars [PLOT/GAME/RP SPOILERS MAX WARNING]

5 gods, 5 players, should be obvious where this is heading - As the Ghostcallers are reborn, and apocalypse approaches, the gods will pick their champions, their 'avatars', ex. "The Champion of Andro/Rakatok/Noxkii/Malak/Orbijan/", "The Avatar of Andro/Rakatok/Noxkii/Malak/Orbijan". At the beginning of the RP, based off of how the char sheets are filled out (read: Playstyle), that person will be later assigned the title of the champion to a respective god, as well as being a Ghostcaller (A human that is a 'ghost hunter', that after defeating ghosts, will consume their souls, magic, and power rather than banishing them directly back to the Underworld or the Aetherium to be reforged (Oh yeah, that place. Good luck with that. Orbijan is mean when y'all start trespassing.)


Andro's champion/avatar will be able to manipulate time in all sorts of ways. Some elder cults of Androzaan suggest that he may well also be the god of Fate... Interesting implications for his champion...
Rakatok's champion/avatar will be able to funnel darkness incarnate, crushing the spirits of their enemies, bringing plague, death, corruption, and suffering to all who oppose him and his patron god
Noxkii's champion/avatar will be greatly improved in combat. Being able to conjure allies directly from the Soul Forge (read: Aetherium), take out whole armies with the strike of a sword, shake the earth itself, or anything else, Noxkii's champion/avatar will be crucial in any fight.
Malak's champion/avatar will be undoubtedly be one of the greatest supporting mages of all time. Perfecting the ancient art of Battle Meditations, they can rejuvenate whole legions, striking fear into the heart of their enemies, inspiring allies with confidence, and send armies running.
Orbijan's champion/avatar will be without doubt, be one of the greatest magic users of all time. Orbijan is the goddess of Magic, Prophecies, Illusions, and the Aetherium. Drawing immense power from the realm of the Aetherium, Orbijan's champion/avatar can perform complex conjurations, illusions, spells, enchantments, curses, and rune spells in their sleep. Also being the god of Prophecy, the clairvoyant powers of her champion will be invaluable.

Spoiler: MORE INTENSE SPOILERS

If all goes according to plan, the 5 champions/avatars of the Gods will work to overthrow their patron god, and bind their will to them, ushering in a new pantheon at the end of the world, reshaping the world into a new one. And thus, the world of Androzaan will end. That is of course, if the champions do not die in their perilous adventures, or if I don't run out of ideas (speaking of ideas, there are still several worlds and possibilities not explored, mostly the Aetherium. Possible Aetherium teaser coming, but I don't know.

But what I'm saying is if I choose life, someone else can't choose it then?

 

Oh, no. No overlap between Avatar/champions or the gods choosing them, however you most likely not be able to choose who's champion you are, but be aware that who chooses you will be based off of the personality, abilities, and traits of your character, Ex. a powerful nobleman/king is likely to be the Avatar of Andro, a knowledgeable, kind sage that grows fat on wisdom and is kind to the lower classes is likely to be the Avatar of Malak, an evil Ghostcaller that abuses their power for their own gains, for money, power, and status or an wicked, murderous cultist is likely to be the Avatar of Rakatok, and a powerful warlord and mighty warlord is likely to be the Avatar of Noxkii.

Creation:

Eons ago, sat the Elder God on the throne of omnipotence. He himself was not special, save his control over 5 comets, hurtling through the empty void, and he alone inhabited Creation - or at least, what parts of Creation there were. He tried endlessly to create, try after try, he failed. In his sadness he wallowed, braising himself in his own tears, for he felt so utterly defeated, and in himself he lost all faith. Try as he might, all the universe could be was particles bound together by nothing in the void of space, while 5 comets of unknown force flung through the universe.

Eventually, in his thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, hundreds of millions year depression, these comets were whittled down into smoothened shapes. One shone bright white, and around it always was a whooshing sound. Another glowed dark blue. The third illuminated an ominous red, the fourth a hearty green, and the fifth a stormy grey. And as if by fate, one unknown day, these five comets slammed into each other, erupting into bouts of light, the power contained within spilled out, as did wisps of fog - white for the first, blue for the second, red for the third, green for the fourth, and grey for the fifth. Such a commotion, even far out in the depths of the void could draw out any creature. And so the Elder God emerged from his wallow. He felt a connection to these wisps of fog. He realized that they were eventually to overthrow him. Binding the power of these comet fragments to his own, he created the Chains of Karma, which dictate Time and Fate. He gave these wisps, intelligences, form in the void, but only so that he may bind them. To monitor them, he gave them each name; white as “Wind, Orbijan”, blue as “Water, Andro”, red as “Fire, Rakatok”, green as “Earth, Malak, and, finally, grey as “Storm, Noxkii”.

And as such had just passed the Elder God’s first mistake; he had committed unspeakable evil upon the newformed Gods, the first Reborn Pantheon. And such, the Chains of Karma, which dictate Time and Fate tangled, putting the Elder God out of favor in the judging eyes of Fate. To each new being, it granted powers, to Orbijan, the gift of Magicks, Prophecy, Illusion, and to it a new realm; the Aetherium, to Malak, the keys to Knowledge never-ending, Birth, Life, and Kindness, to Noxkii, Wrath, Might, War, and Power, to Rakatok, the Darkness, Death, the Void, and life-after-death. Lastly, to Andro, Time, Creation, Kingship, and Leadership.

And to the New Gods it spoke;

“All hail Andro, king of kings, Rakatok-worldkiller, claimer of souls, Noxkii, mighty storm, Malak, giver of life, Orbijan, prophet of prophets.”

And in response shouted the New Gods;

“All hail Andro, king of kings, Rakatok-worldkiller, claimer of souls, Noxkii, mighty storm, Malak, giver of life, Orbijan, prophet of prophets.”


And with their new found powers, they fashioned words, words of power, words with the power to shape reality, and they bound their wills to it, testing each one;

“Korama Sroe!” they shouted in unison “Unfettered Force”, and their subject flew off,

“Markarthi Karambasta!” and a great maelstrom formed over their heads, “Great Storm”,

“Karthwaal Staadnav!” and bouts of fire and frost rained down from heaven above, “God’s Wrath”!

And thus was born the words of power.

And thus was born the art of war.

And so the Gods, Staadnav went to war against the Elder God.

Armed with their incantations, armed with patience, and armed with motivation waged war against the Elder God.

And in the last moments of Eternity, the Elder God lay defeated, dying out. As his brethren prepared to stab him,

“Wait!”, Andro cried, “If we are to kill him, we are to become him. Spare him so that we do not fall down the same path.”.

And so they did, and with their combined force they banished him to the farthest, most intimate nook of Oblivion, to a world beyond and outside of Time, unable to ever return. But before they did, they provided him a simple honour;

“What is your name, Elder God?” asked Andro, to which the Elder God replied

“Val-korion. Ghostcaller.” the Elder God said,

“Then it shall be remembered; the Elder God Val-korion!” Andro proclaimed

. And with peace at last, the gods convened and created plans for a new world, with new people; Mallakorstenjan, ‘Everlasting Man’. And so the gods created each their own corner of Creation, Andro created Androzaan and its inhabitants, Noxkii, the sky and weather, Orbijan, the Soul Forge in the new Aetherium, which created the inhabitants of Androzaan, Malak, the means to populate the earth, and Rakatok, the life-after-death.

And afterwards, each god inspired in the hearts of men the strength to build 5 great citadels; Andro instructed the mountain-men of the East to build Mallakar, “Eternal City” surrounded by sea and cliff, Orbijan instructed the tundra-men of the North to build Mindoraan, “Frost Land” surrounded by frost and cold, Malak instructed the forest-men of the Center to build Esdel “Summer Forest” surrounded by pine and river, Rakatok instructed the plains-men of the south to build Karamie “Tribute” surrounded by tombstone and history, Noxkii instructed the mountain-men of the North to build the Great Temple of Noxkii surrounded by sky and treacherous mountain.

And thus was born the legend of the Ghostcallers Val-korion.
