RIftwalker concept seems boring... [I guess this is effort]

    Also this is my first thread.
    pls give reasons why you like/dont like as well as balancing. TLDR at bottom.

    Riftwalker is currently too boring, and possibly too overpowered (although my new version might still be overpowered too). Riftwalker currently is just constantly spamming ice snake and left click for 7.5 seconds on the boss mob then dropping constant meteor/ice snake on it till it dies, basically nothing changed from mage to riftwalker except that it does fifty times more damage now (exaggerated) and has one cool ability where you can get timelocked. It takes the idea of RIFT - WALKING, like teleporting through time or just being a time bender and turns it into: teleport twice with extra damage. Yeah that's not very interesting.


    So we are here at the drawing board to change it. The main abilities that could be more creatively designed are the main 3 abilities, although the last one is cool it won’t work with what I’m trying to do. Then I would like to change thunderstorm to thundershock, 50% thunder damage where meteor strikes and stun for say 2 seconds. Now the bigger ones: Breathless (too bland all it does it simply increases damage), Transonic Warp (same thing as breathless), Gust (this one really wouldn’t need change but with what I’m trying to do it doesn’t work), Devitalize (also works fine just need to change like 1 word), along with: Windsweeper (just spam for 2.5 seconds for more than double damage using ice snake kinda boring), Diffusion (BRUH ABSOLUTELY BORING FOR A RED ABILITY), Timelock (really cool just not working with my new idea).


    Gain 1 Timeless for every time you attack, 1 second cooldown on first gain, 2 seconds on second and 3 on third (max 3), Timeless lasts 6 seconds but can go up to 8 when you gain the second time and the third. For every 1 Timeless you have, gain a 25% chance to recast ice snake for 0 mana a split second after the first cast at the same location as first cast. An explanation for how the Timeless gaining works: when you hit a mob you don’t gain timeless instead it adds a 1 second cooldown before you can gain one, then you can gain a Timeless from hitting a mob, then it goes up to 2 seconds and so forth. This makes it so that you don’t gain insane damage from just 2.5 seconds of spamming left click (provided you have a high attack speed weapon) but rather around 6-7 seconds of spam, with the 8 second thingy basically it refreshes the timer every time you hit a mob but caps at 8 seconds and cannot go higher using More Timeless.

    This will simply just change to more timeless and will give 3 instead of 5, % over 100 means a chance to triple strike or even quadruple strike, as well as a guarantee to hit twice/thrice (like ferocity in skyblock).

    For every 1 Timeless you have gain a 20% chance (caps at 100%) fpr ice snake, heal or teleport wind slash to rebound from the direction it ended (heal would pull back in to heal a second time, ice snake(s) would fly back from the direction they went, and teleport would just deal extra damage), for heal you will gain the full effect the second time, for teleport it will deal 50% more damage in the respective elements, and for ice snake each individual snake will deal 35% damage on the rebound, 25% neutral, 10% air (btw for ice snake it doesnt mean it does 135% damage it means it only deal 35% on rebound).

    For every 3 Timeless you pull enemies that you warp through (also increase teleport’s hitbox by .5 blocks on either side) to the location you warped and deal 25% air damage and 25% thunder damage (max 150%).

    Meteor is removed and changed to Recall Beacon, when you cast meteor it places down a recall beacon at your location, you can have up to three beacons. When you cast teleport you will warp to each beacon in order of placement and not only teleport through the enemies but also at each recall beacon activate an air pulse (2 blocks radius) for 70% neutral damage and 30% air damage. A beacon will last 15 seconds before dissipating. Kind of a funny idea is that you can never get hit with this if you are fighting a single enemy by placing the beacon, having the enemy run past it and almost reach you then just tp and go back to the beacon and repeat, it can also be really strategically used. Btw the thundershock thing will cast when you place a beacon not when you teleport back to one.

    Ice snake will now push/pull enemies with a powerful gust of wind, every 1 Timeless deal 10% air damage and push/pull .5 blocks, press shift to only push. Explaining push/pull: when ice snake rebounds it will push it back towards you basically a pull so when you shift that means it will only push the first time.

    Literally the same thing but instead make it a 3% reduction per Timeless meaning it would go down to 27% rather than 30%.

    Shift heal to use up to six Timeless (minimum 3) to cast Time Warp which places a 8 block radius Warpzone that reduces enemy movement speed from 50-80% and attack speed from 30-60% for 8 seconds. At the end of the time warp cause a distortion depending on how much extra Timeless was consumed past the base amount, per 1 timeless deal 20% neutral and 20% thunder damage in the area.

    TLDR: basically riftwalker is supposed to be a timebender destroyer but rn it is only the latter, literally the same thing as current mage with some tp changes and a cool final move. so i thought to make it more... time bendy. it took the idea of time loops and put it in the spells (recasting spells) and also made a recall thingy so you can tp back to previous locations and made like a timezone warp that slows time in an area.

    Riftwalker isn’t meant to bend time, it’s meant to bend space, constantly being in a different location then before. You chip away at enemies before delivering a devastating combo strike. I agree that it needs to have more gradual build-ups (you shouldn’t be able to max out Winded on all of the enemies in a boss fight in 5 seconds), but it does the mobility aspect very well.
    As for the concept being boring, maybe wait until you get the chance to try it…

    so uh real quick im just going to say that I worte my essay wrong and it was meant to talk bout how riftwalker didnt seem to change much from mage 1.21 to 2.0 but then for some reason I straight uo called it boring so oof.
