I'm guessing Corruption. The corruption in Wynn started from the nether portal, and spreads far. It fits the riddle quite well in my opinion.

 

Bob, I think? Jack-of-all-trades sounds like him.

Bob is correct. In his reincarnated state he is neither dead or alive. He is undead. He is a master of all four classes, jack of all trades. "Gleaming prize" and "treasure" refers to the corrupted treasure that you get upon completing "Bob's Reincarnation". The "door" is the door to Bob's Tomb.

Yea! The only thing is that when you say "gleaming", I can't help but think that the treasure is a black rectangle in-game .-.

Perhaps. Emeralds is not so much a provider of a gleaming prize. It physically is a gleaming prize. That's the only issue.

 

I see Death being a better choice, you know, you get LE after you beat him, plus champion armor...

 

"Jack of all trades" removes that possibility.
