Detlas should get a rework in the sense that it should get reverted to the previous version of itself. Current Detlas is both too messy and too neat at the same time, and it feels more like a generic Minecraft server hub than an actual town. Also the huge hourglasses was classic. Same thing kinda goes for Nivla Village by the way, now it's just Collection of Straight-Edge Houselike Houses #5 instead of a magical hidden village in the trees.

Maltic shouldn't get a rework. CT if you change it into what it looks like in the picture from the Developer News thing I will cry forever.

Honestly, the only towns I'd say could use a rework are the Ice Nations, Nodguj and Dujgon. No places to live, both are literally just halls with merchants. I think the CT could make something really awesome by making the mountains taller and extending both towns upward, which might also aid the quest Ice Nations somehow if it eve4 gets reworked (which I hope happens). I'm content with all the other towns.

Completely offtopic but I am really curious why people want old Detlas back, I cannot think of anything besides pure nostalgia

Mostly nostalgia. The new one is nice, but it just doesn't feel like Detlas.

The new Detlas is more like a hub than an actual town. No or barely any residences, everything is close together, it's too convenient. In Almuj, everything is spaced out. To get something identified, I have to run up to the bank, run/fly down to the market place and probably back up to the bank again. It's inconvenient, but realistic, and you get to see the town as you're heading from merchant to merchant.

Secondly, the visual aspect of Detlas. It has always had an impressive hourglass right in the center with two connected clock towers to the west of it. Now the hourglass is tiny and stuffed away on a rooftop, and the center of the town now hosts a purple crystal of some kind. I can't deny the old towers were nostalgic, but more importantly, they gave Detlas character.

Lastly a personal opinion of mine: current Detlas is hard on the eyes. There are too many colours, I can only describe the pallet of Detlas as a noisy rainbow. Just a subjective thing though.

I feel like this makes perfect sense, considering Detlas' reputation as a trading-hub. You don't want your hub town that loads of players go to for trading and chatting to be designed in such a way that it's actually not convenient anymore to go there.. [see: Eltom, it takes 40+ seconds to go from the houses to the merchants, which is imo stupid] There is an Inn in Detlas, a presumably residental area, and some other stuff if you just go away from the centre. Important merchants are somewhat spread out in Detlas as well, there's a bit of a trek from the Powder Merchant to the Blacksmith for example. In my view at least, convenience is what makes Detlas a great city.

To be quite honest, I don't really think Detlas needs a residental area. If it is a city where lots of trading gets done, it would be logical if it tried to maximise it's trading presence and just hosted a inn for travelers and passerby merchants.

Large, somewhat imposing buildings, a bunch of different banners hanging down, large signs signifying the locations of different merchants, lots of tents, resources + carts scattered around. All of this stuff adds to Detlas' character. There's much more character-building for Detlas than just having one big tower and going "without this, Detlas wouldn't be Detlas". I feel like you have to ignore a lot of great things about Detlas to say that it doesn't have character.

Valid opinion. Imo it adds to the "big prosperous trading town" with merchants trying to catch your attention type aesthetic, but I can see why some would dislike that
