World Revamp The Bottom Of The Ocean!

Hey everyone!

I'm sorry but I'm not very good at making threads, so I hope you'll understand my point. Also I'm french so excuse me if my grammar isn't always correct. I've been thinking of sharing this suggestion for a while now and people have suggested me to make a thread about it in the past. So here it is.



Some time ago, the Seaskipper, the Seavale Reefs and a couple more islands were added to the ocean, making it a lot more interesting to explore. This is my opinion, but the ocean floor that is separating these features doesn't offer much content to explore apart from a sunken ship every thousand blocks or an island.



The bottom of the ocean is like the borders of the map before they got revamped. They used to serve no other purpose than being there. Only today you can explore them, find mobs to fight, camps, abandoned structures, all sorts of things. It's optional, but it's there and it gives way more character to the borders of the map.

So how about (I'm addressing myself to the CT) you added similar sorta content to the ocean floor, make it more detailed and interactive, and make people want to explore the ocean rather than just skip it ?



As of now, the ocean floor has remained this mix of sand and dirt that goes on for miles until you eventually find an island, or otherwise it goes one block higher or lower. I think it's about time you added more content to decorate the bottom of the ocean, it's been in this state for four years now and barely changed. It's really a shame that there's no other place you can interact with the ocean other than a few rare sunken ships and the Seavale Reefs.

Adding underwater flora, rocks, different sea levels/landscape (a bit like the normal MC), volcanoes, ravines, and more interesting locations resembling Seavale Reefs that you can explore or farm treasures at would make it way more interesting. And players would get more opportunities to use their Breathing cap, or find it useful to buy a boat!
I can imagine it's not that easy to change the whole ocean either, but adding a bit more content to it would make a big difference.

Anyway, that's my suggestion. What do you guys think ?

I really like this idea, because it could uncover a bunch of discoveries, and make the ocean floor more interactive. All there is now, is just a bunch of block patterns, sunken ships, and one reef.

I definitely agree that the ocean floor should be revamped. But the CT probably doesn't have the time to do it. There are much more important things such as maybe Dern and the already existing provinces to work on.

 

I agree that it needs a revamp, but like HatCat_ said, this would take a very long time and a lot of effort from the CT. If hey could do this though, that'd be lit af.

Also, +1 to you on the music, that game was awesome.

Agreed, but since the boats are currently really buggy, exploring a new revamped ocean would be more of an annoyance. If boats get fixed, I would definitely want to see this.

 

The 1.9 switch should happen soon anyways
Regarding the suggestion, I think this is planned? But it would definitely be awesome!

 

I think that would be fantastic! It would open a whole new range of possible quests too. Also, your English is better than 90% of Americans I know, so don't worry about it =P

Also, I know this may be a little stupid, but can someone link me to some info of Dern and Fruma? This is the first I'm hearing of them

Maybe some loot chests could be added to the bottom of the ocean too, to simulate sunken treasure?

 

Since this thread has received no response for a week and I don't like to just say "Bump" to UP a thread, here's a croissant to make things more interesting :

 

Maybe the whole ocean could be made bigger?

The islands would stay the same, but with more space in between.

This would make things feel less crowded

 

I think it would be nice to see some variation, maybe some discoveries and underwater caves with air in them, but it would take a long time.

 

This would probably be immensely difficult to do, as you'd have to move the entirety of Gavel or all of Wynn (and what exists of Dern and Fruma on the build server). There are off-map locations and things all over the place, so to expand it by any meaningful amount you'd have to be moving things all over the place, reconfiguring everything that teleports you into anything that was moved and make sure none of the technical stuff broke in the process. It would also make it much more frustrating to travel to the minor islands without Seaskipper docks. Also, you'd have even more ocean floor to make interesting! Probably not the best idea...

why don't we wait for Wynncraft to shift to 1.14 Minecraft so that the Update Aquatic will be usable and could turn the ocean into a bulya area.
