Quest: The Ocean Postman

Hello everybody! I came up with an idea of a quest that is supposed to teach you how to get to Gavel and how to use the Seaskipper. It's similar to The Lost and From The Bottom.

The Ocean Postman

Talk to Audemar in Nemract.

Pre-Quest Dialogue
Audemar (1/1): I need help of someone who has quite a bit of experience with traveling, you look like you can't handle my task, come back to me when you are level 37.

Starting Dialogue
Audemar (1/6): Hello adventurer I need help with my job. I'm a bit sick so the doctor said I can't work for a couple of days.
Audemar (2/6): I want you to deliver some packages to the city of Llevigar in the province of Gavel.
Audemar (3/6): But there is one problem, I don't have the packages. They are spread over the entire ocean!
Audemar (4/6): The people who have the packages are on the Zhight islands, Mage island, Selchar and on Durum isles.
Audemar (5/6): You should first go to Zight island. Don't worry you don't have get there on you own, the Seaskipper Captain can help you! His ship is on the end of this dock.
Audemar (6/6): To get him to bring you somewhere you have to buy a ticket at his shop overthere. Good luck adverturer!

(Note: The builders have to make a dock for the Seaskipper on Durum Isles)

Talk to Amram on the Zhight Islands and get his package

Pre-Quest Dialogue
Amram (1/1): I have a package wich has to get to Llevigar quickly but the postman isn't coming! Hey what are you looking at?

Amram (1/3): I have a package wich has to get to Llevigar really quickly, but the postman just won't come!
Amram (2/3): Oh you're the postman, well then sorry i was so impatient.
Amram (3/3): But can you bring this to Llevigar fast? It's really important to me. Oh you have to get more packages? I have a friend who lives in Selchar His name is Arod. He told me he had a package too. You should go there next.

Talk to Arod The Fisher at the Selchar docks and get his package

Pre-Quest Dialogue
Arod (1/1): Hello there friend, welcome to Selchar the heart of the Ocean!

Arod (1/5): Hello there friend, welcome to Selchar the heart of the Ocean!
Arod (2/5): Oh you're the postman! I need somebody to bring this crate of fish to Llevigar.
Arod (3/5): A lot of the fish we catch here goes there. The people of Llevigar love fish!
Arod (4/5): But there is one slight problem. Yesterday i was fishing at the Seavale reef when I got robbed by pirates and they trew overboard all of my fish and took all of the money i had with me!
Arod (5/5): I think it all happened on the north side of the reef you will have to go diving to get it. Bring me back 1 Arod's crate of fish for you to bring to Llevigar.

Find 1 Arod's crate of fish and bring it back to Arod

Arod (1/3): Ah you're back! Do you have the fish?
Arod (2/3): Now you can go to Llevigar to deliver the fish.
Arod (3/3): Wait you need to bring more packages? I heard the farmers on Durum isles are having a problem lately you should probably see if you can help them.

Talk to Haon on the Durum isles and get his package

Haon (1/1): Sorry but I don't have time to talk to you i'm busy feeding the cows.

Haon (1/4): Oh hello there adventurer, oh you are the postman!
Haon (2/4): Well let me grab my package.
Haon searches trough the barn and grabs a big smelly bag.
Haon (3/4): For some reason some people in Llevigar wanted a bag of poop! I think they want to use it as fertilizer. Cow poop is excellent fertilizer!
Haon (3/4): I see you still have to go to Mage island, i hope you bought a ticket to go there in Selchar before you went here or else you have to go back to buy one.

Talk to Edrevius on Mage island and get his package

Edrevius (1/1): Hello there soldier, how are you doing?

Edrevius (1/4): Hello soldier! How are you doing?
Edrevius (2/4): Ah you are the postman! I need you to bring these study results to Llevigar.
Edrevius (3/4): Me along with some other mages on Mage island did a big study on levitation!
Edrevius (4/4): I see you Bhave some more packages, you should bring them to Aoric. He will bring them to the people who need them.

Aoric (1/1): Hello there human welcome to Gavel!

Aoric (1/5): Hello human welcome to Gavel!
Aoric (2/5): Oh Audemar sent you? He is sick? I hope he gets better soon.
Aoric (3/5): May I have the packages? I will bring them to the people who need them.
Aoric (4/5): Now i wish you the best of luck on your travels, if you want to go back to Nemract you have to buy a boat pass and give it to the captain!
Aoric (5/5): Oh and here take take these emeralds as a gift, good luck!

It is supposed to teach you about getting to Gavel and using the seaskipper wich are both really important around that level. And from your perspective all quests that are supposed to teach you are fetchy.

 

Yeah, but... it could've been executed better. By the time you're level 37, you've used the Seaskipper already (Cluck Cluck, Sister City). Gavel is important but it's also natural progression (through the game). From the coordinates in the quest book given in Pirate's Trove, one can assume that to start the quest you must go across the sea. I can't imagine a player that has not used the map to help them (I'm sure there are some, but I feel like there would not be very many), and (at least in my experience) you'd have heard of Gavel already.
A better way to execute this could be a race - I think it's a cool gimmick and another way of getting the player to Llevigar.

This is just a horrible boring fetch quest that no one wants.

 

I will try make the quest less fetchy have you got any tips in wich I can still use this concept?

 

Nope. A level 39 quest usualy envolves almuj/rymek

I added an actual mission for Selchar tell me if it's good, I don't have time to do much more now I will try to finish the rest tommorow!

 

These are the types of quests we are trying to avoid.
Boring, fetch-y quests and even worse... in the ocean!
Maybe make it less travelling and something more unique.
I liked the dialogues

 

It just makes the quest more fetch-y.
