I love how much this quest was supported. It's nice not to have to do a world-ending megaquest, and get decent support for it as well.

    Hi all,
This is just a short quest I made to give some use back to Elkurn after 1.12 made it a ghost town for anything special.

And of course, if you vote "ye, but it could use more stuff" or "nop", then please tell me how I can improve; A lot of negative voters don't tell me what they don't like about it, and the bugs me, because it means I can't make it to fit what they want.

    Dubious Luck
    Level 16
    Around 30-40 minutes???
Also the only one of two quests from me that's not this super-epic thing
    1. Speak to Tarn in Elkurn
    2. Speak to the Tramp
    3. Head back to Tarn
    3. Talk to the loggers
    4. Bring their confession to Tarn
    5. Bring the necklace to the Priest
    6. Get the priest his 10 string
    7. Head back to Tarn
So the starting NPC is named Tarn. You can find him in his house.

    Pre-Quest:
[1/2] Tarn: Hello there, adventurer. Are you level 16, by any chance?
[2/2] Tarn: Alas, you can't help me until then. Well, good luck on your travels!

    Quest:
    [1/6] Tarn: Ah, an adventurer.
[2/6] Tarn: Could you help me? I'm in a slight dilemma here. Well slight to you, maybe.
[3/6] Tarn: Out here in the sticks we can only really rely on selling our crops and fish to make a living.
[4/6] Tarn: So imagine my delight when I spotted a jug filled with emeralds and a golden necklace while I was fishing in the lake!
[5/6] Tarn: However the necklace was... wrong, somehow. I gave it as a gift to my wife and now she's bedridden with a fever! I want to find whoever did this.
[6/6] Tarn: There's an old tramp near the lake, I'm not sure how he could even get those emeralds, but you never know with crazy people— He could be the culprit.
    [New Quest Started: Dubious Luck]

Talking to him again at this point yields:
[1/1] Tarn: He's right at the edge of the woods in a ruined fort; it's hard to miss.

The tramp lives in the ruined fort.

    Pre-quest:
[1/1] Tramp: Huh? Who're you? Get outta here!

    Quest:
    [1/4] Tramp: Huh? Whosthere?
[2/4] Tramp: Ugh... What are ye doin in me castle? This here is my property!
The tramp keeps up his rant for another few minutes before you politely interrupt him.
[3/4] Tramp: Wassat? A jug filled with emeral's?
[4/4] Tramp: Now why would I throw tha' away? I ain't as dumb as people think, ya know! Tell your guy I ain't his trickster.
    [Quest Book Updated]

    Post-Quest:
[1/1] Tramp: Jug fulla emeralds... wish I had got'n that...

Now you head back to Tarn and break him the news.

[1/4] Tarn: It's not him? Hmm. Well, at least that narrows it down...
[2/4] Tarn: There's a camp of loggers nearby; it may have been them. You wouldn't mind going one more time, I hope?
[3/4] Tarn: It just feels like it'll help ease my spirit if whoever did this is stopped; this may even be some twisted form of assassination.
[4/4] Tarn: While you ask them, I'll mull over how to get rid of this necklace.
    [Quest Book Updated]

Talking to him again at this point yields:
[1/1] Tarn: I think I've nearly solved how to cleanse this necklace...

The logger's camp is going to be this one, since it's a camp and there are chopped trees near it.

    Pre-quest:
    [1/1] Lumberjack: Hey there, friend!

    Quest:
    [1/6] Lumberjack: Hey there, friend!
[2/6] Lumberjack: What brings you to these parts?
[3/6] Lumberjack: A jug full of emeralds, and a golden necklace? Can't say I remember such a thing.
[4/6] Lumberjack: Wait a minute... I do! We found that necklace in one of the ruins at Time Valley. It seemed unnatural so we stuffed it in an old jar we found, along with a few emeralds we'd spotted.
[5/6] Lumberjack: Last night, we were drinking a bit too much and decided to play a little prank, although it was in quite bad taste; We'd stick the jug with the cursed thing into the river for some poor sap to find it.
[6/6] Lumberjack: I'm so sorry for all this mess, and I'm sure my fellow loggers are too.
    [Quest Book Updated]

    Post-quest:
[1/1] Lumberjack: Again, sorry for all that. No hard feelings, right?

Now you head back and let Tarn know that you found the culprit...
    [1/5] Tarn: Ah! Any luck?
[2/5] Tarn: Indeed? Well then, I accept their apology. People have done worse things while drunk...
[3/5] Tarn: I'll let them know that there's no need to repay me; the emeralds that came with the necklace should compensate.
[4/5] Tarn: Speaking of the necklace, I believe that the head priest, Father Rannas, at our Bovemist church could be able to purify it.
[5/5] Tarn: Last I saw him he was studying a text at his altar. Give this to him!
He hands you a wrapped leather bag.
    [Quest Book Updated]

Talking to him again at this point yields:
[1/1] Tarn: The church is just a ways down, not hard to miss.

The item itself is just a chest, and it is called Bundled Necklace. Its lore is You shouldn't unwrap this...
It is also a Quest Item.

Father Rannas is at his altar. If you somehow don't know where the Elkurn Bovemist church is, it's right here. (I think)

    Pre-Quest:
[1/1] Father Rannas: Welcome to our chapel, my young friend. What brings you here?

    Quest:
[1/4] Father Rannas: Welcome to Elkurn's chapel, friend. Is there a reason for your coming?
[2/4] Father Rannas: A cursed necklace? Well, I haven't purified anything in ages, but I suppose it's worth a try.
[3/4] Father Rannas: However, this necklace seems to have no regard for time. To purify a time-based thing such as this I'll need to wrap it in Nivla string.
[4/4] Father Rannas: Could you head to the forest and obtain [10 String] from the spiders in those parts?
    [Quest Book Updated]

Talking to him again at this point yields:
[1/1] Father Rannas: Remember, I'll need that string if you want me to purify this necklace.

    Feeeeeetch time!

    Upon getting the string:
    [1/3] Father Rannas: Excellent.
He deftly wraps the necklace in a complex net of string.
    [2/3] Father Rannas: ...
[3/3] Father Rannas: It is cleansed.
He undoes the string and hands the necklace to you, which is slightly warm.
    [Quest Book Updated]

    Post-quest:
[1/1] Father Rannas: I hope I have aided you in your dilemma.

You get an item called Purified Necklace. It has the texture of a regular necklace and is a Quest Item.
Giving it to Tarn heeds this message:
[1/6] Tarn: Is that what I think it is?
[2/6] Tarn: Thank you! Hopefully you've just cured my wife.
[3/6] Tarn: I'm sorry for putting you through all this trouble, by the way...
[4/6] Tarn: Tramps, half-sober lumberjacks, piles of spiders...
[5/6] Tarn: How can I compensate...
[6/6] Tarn: I know! You can have some of my newfound emeralds, and the necklace to boot; It's only fair.
    [Quest Complete: Dubious Luck]
    [+800 Experience Points]
    [+37 Emeralds]
    [+1 Timelocked Pendant]

    Post-quest:
[1/1] Tarn: Thank you so much!

And of course, we need the pendant's statistics:
    Timelocked Pendant

    Lv. Min: 16
    Quest Req: Dubious Luck

    +5 Movement Speed
    +2 Health Regen
    +3 Mana Regen
    -5 Defense

    Rare Item

So I was up late writing a history essay when I thought of this idea. I pushed my essay aside and brainstormed it out; The original idea was very different, taking place in Bucie and involving a distressed writer who bought a cursed quill but couldn't remember who the merchant was. It was changed quite a lot because I thought it was lame (seriously, it ended with it turning out that the orcs from Le'adiin did it and as a result it was the lamest idea I have ever had) and is what you have now.

P.S. Dubious means 'doubtful' or 'hesitant'.

I love the fact that this quest takes place in Elkurn. I never go there! The quest is normal - not epic nor boring. Well done.

A great job on this quest, as always. I love how you made me remember Elkurn, a town I haven't visited in literally three months.

Really like the quest and the fact that it gives Elkurn a use. And yeah, after the 1.12 update, Elkurn kinda became useless since you could get the mushrooms for Mushroom Man in the forest. The only complaint I have is the
9 Mana Regen is insanely OP for a level 16 necklace, a level 95 Legendary Water-based chestplate caps at 7 (Aquarius).

Maybe the negative part of the necklace may be a bit too much? How about about like -4 defense and not 6? :)
    Anyway I like it! bump!

Edit: I said that cause that may be too high for low levels.

    HELLO

    YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD GRAMMAR NAZI

I like the quest, but I found a few grammatical errors. :P

In both of the last two sentences, the word "now" is present. The repetition feels awkward; maybe find a synonym or simply remove the second "now".

Remove the hyphen (-), which should only be used to form compound words or to divide words. Replace it with an em-dash (—), and un-capitalize "He".

Words after semicolons should not be capitalized. Also, I think you meant "it's hard to miss", because that implies that you should be able to easily find it.

Not sure if you actually meant it like this or "Who's there?".

Words after semicolons should not be capitalized.

"It just feels like it'll help ease..." --> Ease what? Also, words after semicolons should not be capitalized.

Words after semicolons should not be capitalized. Also, "with the" not "withe".

Remove "just", and it should be "Its lore..." not "It's lore...".

    Capitalize "bovemist".
