Well i was going to make a post saying something similar if it wasn't already.
    Good on you Nyam.

In general we have had alot of stolen accounts recently(not just cape scams).

I know this seems silly to have to say this but keep your passwords to yourself only and dont click any fishy links, sometimes even just clicking them without entering information can be harmful.

Through my playing of factions ive witnessed countless of cases where people have had their accounts cracked. One of the biggest reasons was a database leak a couple of months ago (4 people in my fac were cracked due to this) so if you havent changed your password for a while id recommend you do. There are also countless programs out that try to crack accounts by basically trying millions of common passwords so this should go without saying but make your password as unique and random as possible. You should also avoid downloading mods unless they are well known within the minecraft community. Another big one is clients. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THEM. I know most of wynncrafts community wouldnt be attracted to hacking but sometimes people get bored and want to have a bit of fun on other servers. Nearly all free clients out there that you can download are ratted and will steal your account details. Thats basically all I know on the subject other than the fact that you should have both an antivirus and antimalware program installed on your pc and should preform weekly/monthly scans to keep yourself safe. hope this helped

From what ive been told account cracking programs attempt to crack hundreds of accounts at the same time. Im am no expert in the way in which they work (nor would i want to be for that matter) but through my exposure to account hacking I know the basic way in which they function. Im just trying to warn people that they are indeed out there and the better ones may get your account details if your password is weak.

A few months ago, both my Minecraft account and the e-mail linked to my account passwords were cracked/leaked, even though my passwords are a literal combination of ponctuation, numbers and letters that has no sense. It just happened to me like that, I didn't even do anything to trigger it. It was really scary, but luckily I was able to get both accounts back using my phone and a second e-mail address.

EDIT : By the way, the server should make announcements about this on the lobby.
It could be very useful and informative for those who don't use the forums.

No, the reasons why we haven't made an official thread on it is because we are working on it, we also don't want to cause unneeded panic, along with a majority of the people effected by this scam might not even bother going to the forums before having their account compromised.

The best way to help in this situation is to let a mod know about someone that is sending these links, and to remind people not to click on it if you notice it in public, but if this is seen then they have to be reported.

To clarify: If you receive a message from a scammer, /report them with a link to a screenshot of what they said, and post a report in the player reports section.

Also, don't post the link to the scam website on the public forums, please.

I've reported two people for messaging the link to me today. I suggest that there be a temporary block on links in pms until the situation is resolved.
