Website & Forums Prohibiting Spambots :')

Spambots are our favorite things, right?

WRONG! THEY ARE THE SPAWN OF SATAN; BIRTHED IN THE DEEPEST, MOST PUTRID PITS OF HELL and no one likes them because they are annoying.

There's a plugin for XenForo, well, multiple plugins, that can effectively prevent all of them from ever setting foot on our forums again... sort of.

I don't have anything else to say. This line is just here to calm my raging OCD.

 

You do know that there are types of Spambots, that can get past captchas right? Idk if you guys know, but there are spambots that I've seen on forums in the past, where there were captchas... Idk if just captchas, or whatever, would be the end all be all of Spambots, more intelligent ones will come along, or even spambots that have human control, which that's a thing...

All I'm saying is that, Idk if all these spambot protections will stop all of them... which is honestly why I'd just say, let the mods take care of it...

 

It's still bound to heavily slow down their creation, which Hell even if only 1 spambot ever gets stopped by captchas then that's still making the mod's jobs easier.

 

Still... it wouldn't make it really much easier... and there's a thing, called reporting, that also makes a moderator's job easier, then the moderators don't have to actively go search for spambots. If more people just reported, instead of saying "lets try and make it less likely to have spambots join the forums" then tha'd make their jobs easier as well.

Or we could take the safe route and make the forums pay-to-post
