    You needa select a gym (it can be outside of your radius) and the team selection dialogue will prompt, where you pick your favorite color which is blue

    BLUE TEAM MASTER RACE
    I live nearby a gym, and the blue team controls it. We have 5 pokemon there, ranging from 220 power to a 410 power pokemon (mine is a 396 pidgeot)

    Fun fact I just learned: At the beginning where you can pick one of 3 pokemons to capture, walk out of their range 6-7 times and a pikachu will spawn! *Easter egg im serious not a prank I have it on screenshot*

    Well, I'd still rather have Charmander.

    I caught an Oddish, found a few Pokéstops near me, and 2 gyms. I joined team yellow.

    If anyone wants a map of pokestops and gyms, the site ingress.com/intel has a "map" of them all. Ingress was a game Niantic made before pokemon go and most of the map and locations are just ripped from Ingress. You can't tell which ones are gyms or pokestops but its a nice help.
