World Player Owned Housing

something in game seems a bit sad to me, (Probably bad cheese but whatever) I have no real place to call my home. i do not think that Wynn has player houses well i haven't encountered anything of the sort so far. I think a player owned (and maybe player built) House to call my own would be a great idea. Obviously for about one bottle of liquid emeralds ore something. but still, just because i'm a hero and dungeoneer, i don't want to be a hobo too. if you see this, Hi! If you like this, Thank you!

Well if you ever asked yourself why wynn doesn't have player housing or those things.... Well what can i say we aren't trying to copy other server or make this server fell like hypixel that's it. ^_^

So... Time to explain why this wont be implemented into Wynncraft.

First off, our servers cannot handle generating a whole island for each player who ever logged in. That's over 10,000 islands, with around 150x150x150 block area (including air) each... So 150^3*10,000 = 33,750,000,000 blocks generated simultaneously.


Best case scenario: Lets say the server is fried so bad it can barely function, and that every hour, 1000 islands are loaded and unloaded (not individual), then in a day 24,000 islands are loaded and unloaded, meaning 81,000,000,000 blocks are loaded and unloaded daily. If every chunk (16x16x256) of that is compressed, it would take an immense amount of memory, which simply, Wynn doesn't have.

A long time ago, I saw many that had loopholes and failed. So I made one that fixed the loopholes, and still failed. No matter how detailed (Cough) I was the only fricken person who actually went into detail to try to help the cause (Cough), the lag won't make it work.

 

This has been suggested many times and although it does seem pretty cool there are a few problems.

1. It's going to lag like crazy since we have a couple thousand islands. Wynncraft doesn't have enough server space to save all those chunks.
2. Few people who suggest this go into specifics about prices, blocks, plot sizes, etc, which makes it a little hard to judge the suggestion.
3. Part of Wynncraft's charm is the great builds, having a giant section of flatland with thousands of mediocre houses kind of kills the feeling.
4. Most RPGs do fairly well without housing, if you want to build stuff there are plenty of servers to do that on.

 

Sorry, nope. Don´t worry about being a hobo, however, many players have ¨claimed¨ houses in towns or cities!

The reason we will never have housing is due to server issues and the fact that we don't have enough space for them, both map-wise and code-wise. Another reason is because wynncraft is supposed to be an adventure. There is no house a player can own, as players are intended to be nomadic, moving from one area to another as they level up. The closest thing to houses is unofficially owning a spot in the wynncraft map, which in the end isn't yours as it was not intended for players to own.

I'm pretty sure it's against the rules to tag admins no matter the reason. If you wanted something changed, you should PM them instead of trying to insult someone, not mattering if they made a really bad suggestion.
