Archer/Hunter Help Plague Build?

So, I haven't been able to find any builds using the bow Plague, from the Corrupted Sand-Swept Tomb...

Considering the 50% exploding, 375 LS (or something like that, can't recall precisely), and massive base damage, it seems like it could be fun to play around with...

Anyway, unfortunately, melee archer is, as many, many, people have said, almost always trash, and from what I've calculated, a standard-issue spell build with this thing is a bit underwhelming... Maybe some kind of hybrid?

@summitwei I've seen you do a few "vampiric" builds, have any ideas?

Eh... this is pretty similar to what I already tried, just with slightly more damage and LS, but a good deal less HP. While it would probably work, I was hoping to find something more interesting...

Hmm... not sure how I feel about it being melee tbh... it does seem like it would work pretty well though...

Well the thing was that after using Cancer, if you want to do damage from something other than poison, you need something else, so I just took some melee (since according to Questions, melee affects exploding) with Puppeteer. Achilles is more here to balance out the water defense (since a certain bug with defense calculation makes it positive) and a bunch of earth defense, but damage is always welcome.

Plague might work with that build, but you'd need to do some switching around of skill points. It might work better with Executioner Helmet and some other stuff like that, though.

6/9 needs more cancer.

Actually, between Puppeteer, Achilles, and other random elemental damage, your build would have pretty good melee DPS, as well as decent crowd control in the form of exploding... might be decent. I think Sundown Poncho would actually add more damage than Puppeteer, though it's even more glass and lacks walk speed. I'm not quite sure if Achilles is the best boot choice, but it works decently (though bugfixes might screw you over...).

 

Once bug fixes occur then Darksteel --> Dia Fusion Ring/Prism, that should give you zero or positive water defense with Achilles (the only reason Darksteel is there is to bring down your water defense and get a bit of extra skill points).

 

Umm... one problem. As far as I've calculated, it doesn't actually have enough skill points. In particular, the choice of Diamond Fusion Ring messes things up, as it costs 20 int SP and doesn't add any more SP.

I actually switched out Diamond Fusion for Tisaun's Honor, which gives some nice defense points and melee damage. (I'm putting this into the damage calculator right now). It seems to work okay...

Apparently, my modified version of your build gets an average DPS of 26,756.5 while in Courage. It can also get almost 10k bomb arrows (with crit and Courage, of course).

But how does it get 10k bomb arrows with the not-really-uncountered -spell damage from Cancer?

 

For one, I was assuming the cancer had minimum -spell, which it probably won't, since that's significantly less important than its other stats in this build. Additionally, this build actually has a decent 66% fire damage (if using Sundown Poncho, anyway. I kind of prefer it over Puppeteer for this build.), a lot of defense skill points, and a hefty boost from Courage, which help to counteract Cancer, to some degree.

 

Note BTW that the DPS I calculated was with Sundown Poncho, I believe Puppeteer would give slightly less.

 

What results did you get while trying it

 

The max bomb arrow was ~12k with crit and courage active, and it had lackluster mana regen.

 

Melee? The Exploding should also activate life steal, which will give you a ton of survivability

Also you can use Paradox for boots. The mana steal will be helpful for mana as well, if you choose Thunder Powder Special, because it activates stealing effects (life steal, mana steal).
