World "personal Player" Quests [25 Supporters]

I wasn't very sure what to call this thread, so...

My idea is that maybe there can be a thread where we don't have to simply fetch items. No puzzles, no nothing. Just exploring. Maybe a dungeon.

Disclaimer: The following is just a short example to help understand.
Disclaimer #2: This is meant to be a QUEST.

Example:
In quests like these for example, the quest can start from a book lying on the ground, with the notes of a dead adventurer trying to gain treasure. You decide to take the treasure for yourself and once you pick up the treasure, you finish the quest.

Dialogue for my Example:
Writing In Book:
"I...I'm dying....the creatures in this cave are guarding the ancient treasure with their lives. They were too powerful for somebody such as me...."

"The treasure was a sort of ring I believe. I only caught a glimpse of it as I was wounded."

"I slayed most of the creatures, but I suppose there are more by the time anybody reads this. A creature came behind me and impaled me in the back. I quickly disposed of it and crawled outside to write this book..."

"Before my time is up....I really m-must...say....it's power is immense but the creatures' powers must have been boosted by the...r-ring self."

"Goodbye fellow reader."

Narration: Maybe you should collect the treasure for yourself. It seems to have a great deal of power. It could help you in your adventure.

Quest Finish: (small amount of xp for your level)
Ancient Ring

 

Not bad! It promotes exploration, makes a great way to direct players into caves for their level, and can feel a little less stupid than *cough* missions *cough* Perhaps this could even replace them!

Nice suggestion! To be honest, this should help exploration for players in the map.

 

It's cool! But this would mean they'd have to spawn a treasure room anywhere in the map..

This is good! My suggestion is that if its a "Quest" that it doesn't show in the quest book, so they're things you stumble upon, not look for.

But I agree with whichever post that stated that these could potentially replace missions if done well. If they were quests, it would be slightly awkward that they don't appear in the book even if they were more of a Side-Quest. But Wynn has enough random caves and hidden areas that I think implanting this in a Mission-esque way might still be an effective and viable way of implenting this.

If Quest is undoubtedly what you want, then definitely pay attention to the quoted post. While hard to find, the ??? quest is highly intriguing due to the mystery factor since the book provides no hints as to how to find or start it. I think this concept has that same potential for surprise and intrigue due to the 'random encounter' type system of encountering the books.

With a little fine-tuning and detail work for the players' sake, I think this suggestion has potential. Granted, the admins almost never show much interest in specific suggestions, but I personally hope that this particular suggestion will continue to grow and develop.

Also, for future reference, try not to bump a thread so blatantly that many times. If you really want to see the thread thrive and have already bumped it a moderate amount of times, have a friend post something to bump the thread, but in a less obvious way. This keeps the thread active, but doesn't make the Original Author look desperate or anything. Just a tip c:

 

I like it. It promotes exploring and is something the player can stumble upon. I feel like it's like a loot chest, mission, and quest combo. It's great!
