The definition of gender and sex are way better in french.
Gender = Genre = Masculin ou Feminin (Male or Female)
Sex = Sexe = Fille ou Garçon (Girl or Boy)

Ice Bear sees where this is going, there cannot be an argument unless if people come to agree to one definition of a gender. Ice Bear will provide an example this is the color purple it is made from red and blue, if the other person's definition is purple is made from red and green then the argument cannot continue because each person's argument is based on different premises. To be fair on both sides the definition of a word can change based on society as for the other side it is more established.

 

These posts are always so damn well put together that I'm honestly impressed. Your arguments are all very well presented, too. Well done, dude.

To be frank, I do agree with you on these points, so there's a definite bias against it, but I feel like I'd still love these posts even if I had opposing views

Guys why are we even taking this seriously?

 

Because, unfortunately, there are people in this world who look for any reason in order to assert any kind of superiority, in their minds, over other people. That's where it always starts, no matter how much we can show them that their ideas are plainly wrong, they stick to their ideas. Mostly, if not always, it's based on the teachings of one religion or another, however those teachings are correctly, or incorrectly, interpreted.

It's pretty tough to get someone to admit to having a real bias, unless we're dealing with someone who revels in it, and wears it like a badge of honor.

 

Everybody has some sort of bias or inclination to be right, not something exclusively reserved for religion. For example, most of the time if you try to convince a hard-line anti-vacer that vaccines don't cause autism, they become more entrenched in their belief. I'm not saying it's impossible or that you shouldn't try to change a person's beliefs, but this scenario occurs often when people try to change each other's beliefs. For the topic of this thread, however, I don't see what religion in this context has to do with why people identify with multiple genders.

 

Please, if you're going to talk about antivaxxers, at least use the "xx" in their names. I started that on several forums a couple of years ago, and it's caught on rather well, actually. ( "xx" is in the cartoon version of both eyes as x's, meaning, dead.)

Religion has nothing to do with why people identify with multiple genders. Religion has everything to do with why people are biased against transgender people. There have been, and are, cultures in which transgender people are viewed as being more spiritually close to the Creator, because the Creator isn't seen by them as "male" or "female", but a combination of both traits. So, when someone is neither "male" or "female", they must be closer in spirit to the Creator.

 

Which religion(s) are you referring to? I thought you were going to say that trans people are discriminated against because of Christianity's stance against homosexuality and all.

That slightly reminds me how certain cultures like native americans and arborigenes have "two-spirits" people, which ties their gender identities into their religion/ belief system.

 

If you're biased against trans people you're a bigot. The root cause of being biased against trans people is being bigoted, not religous. A bigot will blindly follow somebody elses words without consideration for others, religion does not lead to these bad morals whereby people are biased against trans people, bigots incorrectly interpreting a religons words leads to such bias. The worlds major relgions have nothing to do with such bigoted behaviour of being against trans people, major religons teach messages of loving each other no matter what. Religions can just be used as excuses by bigots for bigoted views, doesn't mean religion is at fault.

 

But religions do have parts in them against gays, and if there were transgenders back then I'm sure there was a law or two against it
