Honestly I love the EO building style so I see this as an absolute win.

 

You mean when you think of a coal mining town you don't think of observatories?

currently running around the new thesead as i type this, the similarities to cinfras are mostly due to the angling of the screenshot and afro's shaders. from the player's perspective it will feel a lot more unique and less cinfras-like in coloring

 

You know, I think we would all love to see a ground level screenshot of the city, any chance you would be willing to share the view?

You know I was about to go say "Haha EO style" as a joke but honestly I really love this. The cliff levels make it feel unique, the cranes are definitely cool too. Cannot wait to see it in game!

My 1 negative note has already been said, being that (at the moment) it does not feel like the coal mining town it is- but hey, I aint complaining. Hardly a downside.

I could have sworn I saw that Thesead is actually a well-off town made pretty rich by exporting coal, so maybe it could fit? Idk the observatory doesn't fully fit though, perhaps Thesead lore is getting changed too? Theres diamond mining areas near Thesead, perhaps Thesead is rich through those?

 

Maybe I'm not understanding this correctly, but is there any reason to go to a decoration grinding spot rather than a grinding or resource gathering one? Will they be situated closer to the hot air balloons?

why would they leave it there when old ??? is gone?
i know i already said this in a different thread but judging from how they (i think) updated the Aldorei observatory in 1.20 and are now doing the same with the Thesead one, they might be planning to use them for something
first thing i'm checking when we get a hero beta in a few months is that observatory

IRL observatories are often built at high altitudes to reduce distortion caused by air

 

But the observatories in Wynn were made for the old ??? and it's weird how they're each being updated. Plus, Llevigar is a pretty tall place and there's no observatory there

 

a lot of landmarks from removed content are sill in the game. the hourglass in detlas and some of the old ??? meteorites also got reworked, and there are still a few junk merchant wagons scattered around.

llevigar is absurdly symmetrical, and an observatory there would either have to be centered or duplicated to preserve that. either of those options would make it seem a bit too much like an astronomy city

 

That was going to be removed but was kept due to the community wanting it to stay
I don't think anyone was asking for the observatories to be reworked
