Does it matter? does it really matter if a few enemies say there corrupted? does it really make a big enough of a difference to ruin years of work?

No they can change the tag easily...these are simple changes...on mobs that don't match the storyline.

It has been stated more than enough times already that the staff members were likely referring to specifically Wynn's corruption being absent from Gavel. To be more precise, that there is none of the Nether corruption seeping into Gavel. This does not apply, however, to corruption that stems from the mind. Giving into greed or desire is quite literally the theme of Gavel; for examples of this, refer to the Aldorei Valley questline and any of the many other quests that mention the greed of villagers.

The word 'corruption' is used in both situations, but refers to two different ideas. One is a more satanic and ritualistic corruption that directly and visibly affects the terrain and mobs in a hell-ish way; the other has very little to do with magic. The "corruption" occurring within Gavel is predominantly within the minds of its inhabitants. The mobs being complained about are, as previously stated, likely related to a Mage or magic of some sort, especially if the source has given in to its desires and greed. Even if the source of these mobs is based around the nether, it's still different from the Wynn corruption. Wynn corruption, as seen throughout many quests and locations, is overwhelmingly based around the undead. Despite having the word corrupted in their name, these mobs are mythical in origin and are also still alive. Thus, this does not qualify as Wynn's corruption; the most logical answer would likely be a form of magic or other influence. Corruption in Wynn was much clearer in its approach. Whether this means releasing hordes of the undead into the world or transforming the landscape into a satanic nightmare, it matters not, for neither of these two examples are present in Gavel without a given explanation linking it to a different source.

If any of this sounded derogatory or rude, I apologize, it's just that seeing the same example and argument used in every defense of your claim got quite irritating after a certain amount of times. As stated above by various others, this shouldn't even matter in the first place as it is a very trivial and minor detail. The concept of corruption is vast and has many forms, so using such a small handful of minor examples to argue this bothers me more than it should. In the end, no matter what any of of us say, it's likely that nothing will change. This could have been intentional or it could have been accidentally overlooked by the members in charge of mob creation and balancing. Either way, it still does not violate the principles and ideas set in place for Gavel.

I apologize if I am being a buzzkill or a killjoy, it's just that I can get quite perturbed when people are unoriginal with their arguments or
reuse the same one repeatedly, regardless of what the opposing side claims. Sorry again if anything sounded rude, and also for the wall of text. Was just trying to explain clearly. Have a nice day c:

Edit: I realize this post started out as a sarcastic and joking thread, but as it progressed this attitude changed. I am not reacting to the original post as much as I am to the posts that followed.

Everything I said applies to now, with added details. This creature might've died a terrible death, and is overcome with hatred and rage, turning it corrupt, not Corrupt. It also might be controlled by another, being sent into a wicked state.

In our world, many governments can become corrupt. Do they become undead, with rage in their eyes, being summoned from a pit of red-ish blocks with huge, black, spikes? From a portal that leads into a realm called the "Nether?" No. I don't think so. Apply what I just said to Gavel.

Gavel's decay goes back to the same source that is Wynn's Corruption.

Ok, how about this. You CAN'T say ANYTHING about Decay, as there are practically no quests for it, since its likely part of the main storyline. Let them make the quests and explain it, then make useless arguements. EVERYBODY is against you here, just give up and believe that we are correct.

Wynn's Corruption comes from the Nether. Gavel's Decay comes from, we don't know yet.
If Gavel's Decay came from the Nether, it would have similar properties to Corruption, which it doesn't.
