As you probably can tell, this is a suggestion about an idea I have for Wynncraft's Guild War System, and it involves totally changing it. To start, I will provide a short summary of my idea. Basically, I was thinking of a system that implements PvP into Wynncraft (through guild wars) for people that like it, but does not force it upon the people who come to play RP.

To go more in depth, here is how I think this can be done. So as I said, this implements PvP into the guild war system. To do this, a totally separate server with 200 player slots or so could be dedicated to guild wars and serve only as a battle ground for guilds. The only difference between this server and the normal ones would be PvP would be enabled along with a few other minor tweaks. I propose instead of the current mob-defense system, the developers make it so that people can now attack and defend any territory they want and still get the same benefits as now.

How a territory would be taken and defended:
So in order to take an occupied territory, you would have to destroy their "flag" where ever that is current placed or decided to be placed in a territory. Once a flag is destroyed, the new guild's flag takes its place. A flag could have varying HP, perhaps the higher level your guild flag/banner, the more HP and the more HP it regenerates over time. Obviously to defend your territory, you simply station some guild members in territories you value most and they kill any intruders.

When you die defending/attacking how does that work?:
Obviously when you die in a territory, spawning in that territory and getting spawn camped would be cancerous. To combat this, you would simply spawn in the nearest safe city, which would be one of four or so cities in both Gavel and Wynn where PvP is disabled and there is no territory. Maybe there could be Guild Soul points and they could be purchased with guild emeralds or regenerated naturally, I leave that up to the reader to decide.

    Direct downsides of doing this:
Fortunately, this does not have many downsides, but it has a few. For instance, how difficult it would be to defend multiple territories. Obviously if you only have 10 members, but you want 20 territories, that isn't going to happen. If anyone has a way of combatting this issue, please suggest below. One downside people might be thinking is it might make guild emeralds pointless. I disagree. This adds an actual purpose for upgrading your banner other than aesthetics and I am sure the developers could think of other creative ways to make emeralds useful.

    Upsides of doing this:
I really don't see what could go wrong in the long run of doing this. The worst case scenario is you have some complaining from some people, and if people absolutely hate it, you can always change it back. I feel that this would add a new aspect to guild wars and would make taking a territory less mind numbing.

    Commenting rules:
If you don't like my idea, you are entitled to your own opinion, but please back it up with reasons. For example "I don't like it because...."
Just be respectful in general, no need to be throwing insults over a suggestion.

no, because what if the entire defending guild is offline?
or in the federation, where each guild owns many territories. you can't expect us to war in 12+ places at once

All of your replies make sense so far, especially your cases on PvP being rather... not PvP like. In order for this to work the thorns/reflection/poison would need to at least be nerfed heavily if not removed. As for people needing to be online, as I mentioned that is a major flaw. The only way to repair that problem would be to have the server up only for a few hours a day, and whoever has the territories by the end of those hours keeps them until the server is back up at its designated time.
