For me, being on a server with dxp/double loot and having 2 soul points.
...I decided to grind anyway. I gained 2 levels (in the 60s) and I didn't die, but it was stressful.

 

Similar to yours: when I tried to achieve Molten Heights at Lv. 45, I got lost in the canyon of the lost and died. Then I respawned in Thanos were I was stuck for 1 week, till a Lv. 80+ (don't remember who) saved me.
Other day (as Lv. 57) I was grinding in Herb cave when I accidentally pressed 'Q' and dropped my 'Olux Prized Wand' in the ground. I died at the same moment... I lost it.
Since this day my drop key is 'P'

 

See, these moments are when i'm glad to be left handed and using the arrow keys, far from Q.
