ummm, why? they don't let you like, creative mode fly in survival, they only let you glide...

And they have been wanted for a while by many... sooo, yea...

 

If any of you think that you're good with the wings... then I dare you to try this map: http://mcmakistein.com/creations/elytra_flying_challenge
it will take your "skills" that you think you have, and it will throw them out the window, and smash them. saying "Tough shit m8, you wanna get good with wings, you gotta earn it"

Not at the beginning, the first four or so are easy... but then, once you hit the one with slimeblocks.. gl hf with that, gg qq i cri evrytim

 

Of course, it's hard to believe me as the Elytra don't render and the model doesn't change. You can see what I did in the chat log though. In order to do it:
/summon Zombie

/replaceitem Entity @e[type=Zombie,r=10] slot.armor.chest elytra

/tp @e[type=Zombie,r=10] ~ ~75 ~

Okay, then they're fine then.

 

I've just found out that Elytra don't actually "Break" as normal items do. When they hit 0 durability, they won't shatter and dissapear, they'll just not function anymore, so they can be repaired. Balances them out a little more knowing that they work on a kind of "Charge" instead of actual breaking durability.
