Game Mechanics Mailman

Add an NPC is every city, like a mailman of sorts, who you pay a fee and give them the player's housing name, they delivers it.
In the housing menu, there will be an option to purchase a mailbox, where you can claim items delivered to you. Like the housing search interface (that already exists btw), there will be a way to find the specific player's house to avoid accidentally sending your items to someone random.
This change will make giveaways/secret santas and other events much less painful, so you don't have to coordinate when both people have to log on, they can send you the name of their house.
