I'm not sure if this has been suggested before, but I think there should be a way to know what type of loot has been dropped by enemies, whether subtle or obvious, and whether a sound or visual effect.

For example, when grinding, or when otherwise fighting enemies when your inventory is already full, in order to see what every item is, you'll have to either

    • Go to town/ID/sell/bank then come back, and repeat, if the items haven't despawned already
    • Or juggle items by dropping and picking up each item which can be a real hassle especially when there's a lot of enemies nearby.
To save time, and add convenience, there could be either different visual or audio cues when Rare/Legendary/Mythic items drop. I don't think it'd be necessary for uniques.

These audio/visual cues would only be audible/visible to them one who the loot dropped for.

    Examples:
    • If audio cues are used:
      • When rares drop, a quiet but distinct sound would be heard (perhaps something like gaining exp [vanilla] which is used whenever you make transactions with NPC's)
      • When legendaries drop, a louder and more unique sound would be heard (perhaps lightning)
      • When mythics drop, a sound such as the Wither-boss spawn sound, or the Ender Dragon dying sound, would be heard.
    • If visual cues are used:
      • Either temporary or lingering particles could be used:
      • Temporary particles:
        • Magenta/Cyan/Purple particles would appear briefly around where the mob died, that dropped the item to indicate Rares/Legendaries/Mythics, respectively.
      • Lingering particles:
        • Magenta/Cyan/Purple particles would hover around the dropped items, and would last a short duration (perhaps 10-20 seconds or so)
        • Alternatively, if it doesn't cause lag, then the particles could last longer. However I expect that during totem/loot bomb parties that the lag would be significant in that case.
If you like this idea, but have other loot tier indication ideas, feel free to drop them below!

Let me know what you think of this idea by commenting and/or voting in the poll.

Edit: Just realized I left Set items out, but these ideas would also apply to them too, with either a unique sound, or green particles

Edit 2: There would be toggleable options for Rares, Legendaries, Mythics, and Sets, and if they are toggled on, you would either hear them, or see the particles (depending on which idea gets used - if this idea ends up being implemented that is), and if they're toggled off, you won't receive any indication, like it currently is, to help with laggy scenarios like totem parties.

Edit 3: Add an item filter which can be customized so you only pick up certain tiers of loot, leaving the rest on the ground.

I like the idea of this, but I don't think there needs as many sounds and particles as you had listed. Just a short poof of color and a small ding would be enough.

I like it, and to help with the concern of lag in grinding parties, add options so you can choose only legendary and mythics to have particles/sounds

Oh I didn't even know that existed - I only joined last November, well after that thread was made.

But still it would be good to have the option of having it server-side rather than client-side.

So yea basically a nametag showing the item's tier as the wynn enchanced have would be good to add, and at the same time more useful than a sound effect (which is temporary) and less laggy than particules (those ideas were good tho)

Another option would be to have a sort of inventory filter that would pick up only certain tier of items and letting the other ones on the ground; this way if the player choose to only picking up legendaries and better, all emeralds, miscs, white, uniques and rares would not be picked up.

This would also avoid having to stop grinding every five minutes to throw all this junk away, aswell as don't even be able to pick up a legendary since all the junk the mobs dropped around it is automatically filling up the inventory slots while the mobs are respawning and attacking the player...

Altho I don't know if this option if even possible to setup, but would be soo useful if added

An item filter would be really handy - I'll add that in with credit to you. However for nametags over items on the ground to be server-side, they'd need to be holograms, and a ton of them would create a lot of lag anyway

Could you change the poll so that we can select more than one option? I would like to see both audio and visual effects presented ingame! :)

I think if I change the poll while it's being used, it will be reset unfortunately, if it's like the other XenForo forums I'm on.
However just voting for either one is fine, especially since you commented that you'd like to see both.

Why don't you just spawn a fire work effect according to the drop? Light Blue for legendary, etc. they'll drop at the feet where the mob died.

I think this is a good idea, I think the sounds should only be for the person that found it though or you would have a ton of people trying to pick your loot up if it was shown to every player.

Wynn enhanced is a nice mod, but it's sooo buggy, I can't even use it.

I intended it to be only for the person that got the loot, otherwise there'd be a lot of confusion and/or lag during totem parties. I'll clarify that in the original post though, thanks
