One comment started it, then it spiraled deeper. This is not a textbook flamewar, but it's best to stop before it spirals too deep, eh? I'd appriciate if the thread was not hijacked and was kept to it's original purpose.

 

im all for a place people can talk (altho i still think making a thread about it is kinda useless, LGBT threads didnt get any messages even when the forums were alive). this whole debate started from moose saying im not polite, accepting and respectful because I said LGBT instead of LGBTQIA+

 

While I get your frustration - I thought that was a stupid nitpick which assumes malice for no reason - you did give us this whole spiel about how adding QIA+ undermines the LGBT movement and how they don’t face oppression, which was, on top of being a questionable take, very much beside the point. My post is a response to that and I stand by it.

Okay, I'm going to end this argument and ask you, Yuno, to please leave this thread alone and stop posting on it, as it was supposed to be a place of fun, safety and relaxation, but your discriminatory comments have created an atmosphere of anger, hate and ignorance, which isn't what I and others want here.

 

I am and I do, I just think that constantly one upping each other by using longer acronyms isnt helping and only causes farther division between us (as shown by you calling me disrespectful for using the LGBT acronym)

That's fine. I disagree, but we're entitled to our own opinions so no problem.

 

I think the reason a few people, including myself were mad at you wasn't because you said LGBT instead of LGBTQIA+, but because you went on short rants about why QIA+ shouldn't be included. Things that cause farther division within the LGBTQ+ community are usually not which acronym you use, but when people within the LGBTQ+ community try to invalidate a part of the community and paint that group as people trying to sneak into the community. My angry reaction to what you said about asexual and intersex was because I felt like you were trying to do that: Invalidate a part of the community. If I misunderstood what you were saying, I'm sorry for that. But, I'd recommend in the future you think a little more before you post and make sure you won't offend reasonable people.
