You're a new player, going through the tutorial. Everything's new. From mob hitpoints to your hitpoints to the emerald currency system and skillpoints? There's just so much to learn.

Professions (Gathering/Crafting) are treated as just another necessary level system, something critical to quests and the game. You have to make a weapon to progress, after all. You'd naturally assume that a lot of content is gated behind this terribly designed system full of grinding.

Maybe you'd even quit, being turned off by the apparent necessity of professions.

And that's why we don't hear complaints. The people that quit because of this terrible decision to make professions look necessary never get invested in the game enough to care about it.

(this isn't a new thread iirc, but it's always relevant)

in my opinion, I feel like the concept of professions should be placed in a different quest, whilst the gameplay mechanics (skill points, spells, combat, loot chests, etc.) are explored in King's Recruit. nothing that isn't essential should be focused on in the quest.

The professions could be added to a quest like cooks assistant (because you need to gather) or one of the low level quests with an ingredient reward.

I think King's Recruit does need a serious revamp, and that professions shouldn't take the spotlight, however removing them entirely from the quest might be too much.

They would fit much better in a separate quest designed to highlight the place professions have in the game.

    In my opinion they can
    - Remove profession tutorials completely (the bad thing is that new players wouldn't know about it at all)
    - Create a new level 1-10 quest for it
    - Merge it into another quest (Maybe expanding Enzan's brother or Cook Assistant or something)

I kind of think they should be, but just much less central to the overall quest. My friend actually was quite off-putting when he tried it out, largely because it seemed like the game would be really grindy and profession-heavy, so I can definitely say that it gives a negative impression to new players.

    -Focus more on the combat.

-Move the part where you need to use your spell to the part with the tree you need to knock down. It keeps the spirit of the original King’s Recruit, and introduces spells to the player before they need it.

-Reintroduce the part where you need to kill grooks and cows for emeralds to buy a helmet after the tree (lower the price to like two emeralds, though). It lets new players test their spells on mobs in a safe environment and introduces the main currency of the game before they enter the combat cave.

-Like halfway through the cave, add a miniboss with a guaranteed drop of a unique necklace, and add an item Identifier to introduce the very core concepts of identifying items and accessories.

-Keep the parts where you first open the gate to the province and the part where you run from a horde of mobs cuz both of those are cool set pieces.

Yeah I can see why that's an issue
Honestly, professions are cool until you realize how huge of a grindfest they are and this quest does make them feel kinda necessary
It would be better to move this to a different quest like how elements are introduced and explained in Elemental Exercise
