I suggest that people should be more kind in their criticizing responses instead of being flat out rude.

The reason for this is just because of personality. Some people don't think what they say will hurt feelings, and frankly, a lot of what people say when critiquing is the cold, hard, truth. It is not fun to see new suggestions that were thrown together in an hour or so, without special focus on making it over-the-top and glorious; it just gets irritating after you've seen hundreds of them. In all honesty, poor suggestions just shove the good suggestions further away from the front page of General Suggestions, where they get the most views and attention.

So yes, people might be a little rude. But it makes sense. Criticism should not be bundled in layers of hugs and snuggles, it should get straight to the point and tell you what you need to do better.

Its pretty hard to give criticism and not come off as rude. Because yes, sometimes I am aggressive, but sometimes people are so immature that they take any and all criticism, including constructive, as offensive. Sometimes being aggressive is the only way to get your point across.

I understand both your points that some pieces of criticism need a little bit of edge but in all honestly that wasn't really my point.

My point was that some of the criticism going about really isn't even criticism at all but apparent bullying. This post really was targetting threads fitting in the category that one of you described earlier as "poor suggestions". From my experience, I have seen countless many recommendations getting bashed too harshly (there is a limit) for little to no apparent reasons whatsoever. Some "criticism" I have viewed even contained throws of angry slurs.

In my opinion, the definition of a rude comment would be one that denouces the poster or idea in a either simple or clever manner.
    ex:) Suggestion: More classes
Brute: I would ask for more details but your pimply face already has enough of that definition.

    Suggestion: More mobs
Brute: I could write a better suggestion that this one if I were Hellen Keller.

If you're talking about "Bullying" messages, there's already a rule against those type of behavior.
If you're complaining about regular criticism we see 24/7, well, adapt or ignore them if you must.

    15. Being passive aggressive or flat out rude to people.
(Posting "who cares", posting the easter egg song, excessively insulting/making fun of someone, etc.)

I'm sorry to say that that's not really my point either (though it hits close). I understand that there are already rules implemented against bullying but my main focus area is particularly around "exceptionally harsh criticism".

I just think that people should be a little bit more considerate in their comments while also getting their points across such as saying "A little more detail please" as opposed to "It's like detail is not exisitent in your brain's wordbank".

Also, going off on what you said earlier about ignoring rude comments, I pride myself in effectively doing so often. This, actually, is my first post ever really speaking out about this "bashing issue".

I see quite a bit of threads where a person has put little to no detail in a suggestion, and they get bashed for it.

    So, say, I suggested that
"Well I think that the content team should release Dern because there's not a lot of quests and there would be more quests and cool content - also what is cool that I think is that there could be a final boss sort of thing in Dern. I think it would improve the game a lot."

    I'll get responses like:

"lol the CT hasn't even released Corkus yet and you're thinking of dern..."
Well, I know that physically, Corkus is here, but the content - quests and things - aren't here yet.

Now I wouldn't consider that comment so bad - I expect every player who joins the forums to be 1) completely ignorant but sensible enough to ask in the questions section or 2) knowledgeable in the lore and updates and things like that. Now I know that I have high expectations, but everyone who has been active on the forums knows this kind of stuff.

But what I don't like are comments that I see occasionally.
"lol u dont even know anything... go kys"
I really haven't seen things that harsh lately, but it's definitely happened - a lot of times.

Another thing that is annoying is the all-pervasive "add detail" comment. But what kind of detail should be added? This is not constructive criticism - it's just basically saying "wow this sucks kinda" but sugarcoated.

    Fuck you.

THIS IS A JOKE THIS IS A JOKE I'M SORRY I'M A TERRIBLE PERSON

Now my legit response: I agree, some people need to think about what they type before they post it. Criticism can naturally come off as aggresive, and there are some pretty harsh critics here, but some people do need to tone down their responses a bit and focus more on the content rather than trying to prove themselves right above all else.

People will be people and I think we all know a lot of people need some guidance on how to criticize effectively with actual advice without overly insulting.

No matter how hard you try, there won't be an end to harsh, bully-like criticism. There will always be at least one person who will send harsh criticism to suggestions.

On the other hand, there are people who cannot tell criticism from hate. They are probably people who aren't used to being criticised. I admit I am one of them.

About the detail, there are suggestions just so small that it is impossible to make it out in complete detail. Something like "Make a Potion Shop in the Hive" wouldn't be big enough to look like the great suggestions like @Lotem's Better Quest Book suggestion.
